Always a pleasant experience, whether lunch or dinner.
Too pricey for what's offered. Just okay- if you're hungry grab something at the coffee bar across the hall.
Great food and very good value for the neighborhood.
Excellent food and friendly service. Great to combine with a visit to the New-York Historical Society.
Lovely lunch in a beautiful New York Landmark! Delicious burger , fries, chicken sandwiches, and French toast. One of the best cappuccinos I have ever had.
It’s a very nice place with a nice decoration inside the museum. The service was very good. They took their time to bring the food though, but it was delicious. Very recommendable
excellent service, very accommodating and knowledgeable bar tender/server. Excellent drink and wine choices.
Superior pasta dishes - in both cases a new take on a
standard dish. We were elated clean plate diners!
Will return to dine again w/friends
We did the Restaurant week menue and prior to us going to Shakespeare in the Park so was perfect and had us in and out in 45 minutes.
absolutely perfect for a quality meal prior to Shakespeare in the Park
We arrived on time for a 12:30 lunch reservation for five people. We received our food order at 1:50 PM. The burrata and eggplant was inedible (slimey cold eggplant).
All this came as a surprise because prior visits for dinner were flawless. We were comped for the burrata and coffees when the entire experience warranted a full comp.
Wait staff is wonderful as is food. My only complaint is noise level makes conversation difficult.
Food and service were excellent. Room was bright and cheery. At the beginning the kitchen was slow, but as time went on adjustments were made and things went more smoothly.
A delightful experience!
We all enjoyed our dinner and our waiter was great. It was a lovely evening.
We had one major issue with the service. We had to wait 40 minutes for our entree. When it finally arrived it was delicious.
Food was delicious, many choices. We had lunch during our museum visit. Dining room is pretty and bright, but tends to be noisy.
Went to Storico with two friends visiting from out-of-town. They were deeply impressed with the food and with the fact that I knew about the place. Ideal!
Food was excellent; drinks were excellent. A good selection to choose from and I don't think you could go wrong with anything you chose. The service was great. Never felt rushed. Really loved this restaurant.
Excellent summer restaurant weeks menu deal
I've been to Storico several times for the aperitif, dinner, or brunch, but never lunch. A friend and I took advantage of their DELICIOUS restaurant summer weeks menu. The stone fruit and arugula salad was different and refreshing; my friend's gazpacho was tasty, too. She had the pasta dish and I the risotto; both were very good, and copious. The portions were regular menu sized, not smaller as you might expect for a special menu at such a good price. The service is always friendly and attentive; the noise level was manageable. As a "mature" woman (read over 65), my friends and I are always looking for good food/good ambiance, and a space where we can hear one another! We'll continue frequenting Storico.
Service was very slow. Complaint was rejected. All hard surfaces, so noise level was not "Energetic," it made conversation extremely difficult. Very limited menu. Why a heavy wooden menu holder?
Bright, well decorated restaurant in the corner of the NY Historical Society building. Great care is put into each dish. Servers polite and professional.
Loved the restaurant. Very cozy. Food was great. Waiter gave us exceptional service. Lovely ambiance. Would definitely recommend.
The cocktails were amazing! The space isn't as large as advertised but we felt comfortable. The food was good but was eclipsed by the cocktails. Don't pass up on the Temperance!
Both food and service were excellent. We informed our waiter about our 8 PM curtain at Shakespeare in the Park and he made sure we'd be on time. A salad we didn't order was delivered to our table inadvertently and not only was the error corrected happily, the wait staff invited us to enjoy that salad "on the house"- a nice, appreciated, impressive touch.
Service wasn't great, they tried to make up for it by giving us a complimentary which was nice. However, it took a long time to get our food. Also brunch runs very late, and they do not offer a lunch menu after 1pm which to me seems appropriate for lunch. Lastly, there were coffee grounds in one of our cups of coffee. Very pretty place, and food was good just not the best service.
Our experience at Storico, inside the New York Historical Society Museum, was very good. We had an early 5:00 reservation, on a Friday night, because we wanted to attend the 6:30 concert in the museum, and did. The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was excellent, and the food was acceptable (albeit overpriced). Except for the bar area (fully-occupied), the restaurant was empty. Still, because there was no absorption material -- none at all except other people -- it was really noisy. We were not seated next to the crowded bar and still it was VERY noisy. So, the best thing I can say about Storico is that the place was convenient. Oh yes (again), the Waiter did do his job very well.
We had a wonderful waiter & the food was tasty, however somewhat expensive. The noise level was high for the amount of people that were there. I would recommend it to friends who are willing to pay a higher price.
Even though the staff knew we had Shakespeare in the Park tickets to pick up before 7:30 PM and we arrived at 6Pm, we did not get our food until 7:15 though order was put in at 6:30!
Had to,eat fast and walk hurriedly to the Delacorte and faced crazy line/check-in chaos as gates were opening for those already with tickets in hand. We could have lost our seats to the stand by lineup no thanks to Storico’s poor service. Very stressful.
Lovely setting, excellent service and food. Gets noisy until about 1:00 or 1:30 and then it's fine.
The food and service were fantastic and the room is beautiful but the noise level was a bit too high.
Very lovely environment for lunch/brunch. The food is good -- reliably so. The menu has excellent options and I appreciate that there are options for vegetarians.
Going to this restaurant on a Saturday night is just great. Because the Museum is closed, people don't realize that the restaurant is open. Not crowded...food is very good and a quiet noise level so you can have good conversations.
Was a great venue for an early brunch (11am) with an out of town friend and her daughter. The setting is wonderful, big, bright and cheery, and has a good brunch menu. As we arrived early, was empty and very quiet and filled up quickly as brunch progressed but remained fairly quiet considering locale.
I would highly recommend it for all ages.
Wine was priced too high as were past main dishes (one was$24).
Our server, who was our barista at Storico last time, is a real gem. So thorough, detail-oriented and amiable.
I dined in Storico after an evening lecture so the crowd was modest. The room is informal and bright with a very high ceiling and a spacious feel. Even so, the noise around the bar was substantial. Service was warm and helpful. The food was creative but the interesting ingredients, while fresh, did not always meld graciously. Portion size was a bit on the small size but not unreasonable. Three of us enjoyed 2 courses (including one beer) for about $45/person.
Too noisy. We liked the food, the service and the location but we had to shout at each other which was no fun.
Always positive experience- very aware noise level awful till 2- so that didn’t change
Good service and good food in a lovely space
The room is gorgeous, and the food quite good. I had been before, but wanted to bring a friend because the two of us are trying to experience museum restaurants and cafes all over the city. We had some dietary questions, and our waiter, Deo, took them all in stride. He went back and forth to the kitchen to ask about ingredients, and was able to give us the information we needed. We would return in a heartbeat. Oh, and do visit the museum as well.
The food here is unusually good. Simple things are done interestingly. We keep coming back and as a neighborhood place it surpasses everything around it.
