smoked eggplant pasta dish was good
wines by the glass during happy hour ate a great deal
Storico has really superb Italian food in a lovely setting with enthusiastic service. The pasta is amazing.
Storico has become my go-to for meeting friends for lunch, especially if they're from out of town.
Waited almost 15 minutes to be seated. Waited another 10 minutes for water. No waiter. We left after a half hour.
Wonderful UWS spot. I especially loved the arugula salad!
I hosted a Baby Sprinkle for a friend and group of 11. We had a prix fixe lunch that was served family style. Our server, Lucky, was so accomodating, attentive, friendly and professional- she had champagne waiting for us the moment we arrived. We had a wonderful time, the food was delicious and the ambiance is always beautiful.
Good food - attractive room - friendly helpful servers. Just wish the noise level was less - even when restsurent isn't full it's still loud
I have loved this restaurant in the past. The ambiance is lovely and the service is excellent. This time I might have ordered the wrong thing. The spaghetti with walnut, almond, and pinenut pesto was swimming in so much sauce that it almost seemed like a soup. It also was underseasoned. I tasted my friend's butternut squash risotto and it was delicious. The fried zucchini was the best - cracklingly crisp outside and creamy inside. We had to send back our cannoli because the ricotta filling was off. They substituted tiramisu which was very good. I recommend this restaurant to people all the time both to support the New-York Historical Society and because I've always had wonderful meals here. I hope this Saturday's experience was an aberration.
Love the food, the service is excellent, never rushed and very comfortable atmosphere.
Very good food. The ambiance is crowded and noisey. Service is slow. Had to ask where was my food?
My friends and I enjoyed the food, and the ambiance as well. Definitely will be returning to eat there again.
The food was absolutely fantastic. I tried their arancini, had the lamb ragu for my main course and topped it off with a canoli. Our waiter was very attentive, and super apologetic and cognizant of the fact that our dessert took a little bit longer to come out. The flavours were so inviting, and for someone who isn't an Italian food lover - I could not help but fall in love with the spicy, deep notes from the 'nduja. The cocktails were well done, although I think there may have been a little too much ice in mine. I loved the ambiance and the place filled up quite quickly with the dinner crowd. I had a really, really wonderful time at this restaurant and would high recommend it my family, friends and even complete strangers on the internet!
Other than having a pork dish that was way under cooked (raw - the waiter immediately took it back and replaced it with an appropriately cooked dish), overall very satisfying.
Service was slightly better than the food. Food was mediocre at best. Definitely more expensive for the what the food and service was worth. Great location and beautiful restaurant interiors.
We loved this wonderful restaurant inside the New York Historical Society. The food was fresh and delicious. The drinks were fabulous and they were very attentive to our table and even celebrated my daughter’s birthday beautifully.
Very good service and food.
Came for brunch Saturday at 11 and was not disappointed! Service and food were both excellent and the space is just so darling. Highly recommend.
A surprisingly good museum restaurant. Good food, friendly and helpful wait staff.
Menu is not huge but has enough variety to please most. Good was delicious - altho pasta could have been served a bit hotter. Cappucino (requested to be served hot) was piping, a lovely after-dinner treat.
I really like Storico, and the food was very good, but the service wasn't the greatest. We had a reservation, but one person in our party canceled at the last minute, so we went from 6 to 5 people. The hostess just was not okay with that. She couldn't understand how we hadn't changed the reservation, and it took about 20 minutes to get seated. She was also not nice at all about it. The rest of the service was okay, but a bit slow at first.
Besides that, a very good experience. Maybe she was new? Or just not having a good day. Still, I recommend!
Very good experience! Good food, good atmosphere and friendly servers!
Very convenient and healthy choices after our short visit to see the HP exhibit
Always a perfect choice when visiting either the NY Historical Society or the Natual History Museum across the street. Very nice menu selections and never rushed.
This was my first visit. Didn't even know this restaurant existed before. I'm glad I do now. Lovely room, great location, good service, really good food. I'll definitely be back.
Exciting cocktails. Adventurous menu items. Great service from Kevin. Wonderful.
Very pleasant and convenient to the N-Y Historical Museum.
Great venue, bright space for casual dining. We had brunch. Baked eggs and Bircher muesli are excellent. Good kids menu.
I was particularly impressed by the staff's care for a nearby disabled patron, dining with his family. When water was spilled, copious napkins appeared almost instantly, and the mop-up was accomplished with no fuss. A later choking episode was similarly handled smoothly. When we left the restaurant, the patron and his family were still there, apparently enjoying fully the opportunity to eat out. It was just as it should have been.
I've enjoyed Storico in the past and live around the corner and will continue to go there every once in a while. But only during non-peak moments. When they are crowded they are overwhelmed and the beautiful plates that decorate the room bounce the sound around so it is noisy. The experience is very different on a sleepy afternoon or early dinner during a weekday. The food is always delicious. Also, I sat next to the door and in spite of asking someone to manage the cold gusts, the wind went through me every moment or so and as my mother predicted, I woke up with a sore throat and a chill the next day. Sit further inside next time on a quiet day and you'll see me.
menu should be expanded
too much comfortand fried food
The good is dependably good. The service is often slow when they are crowded and it can get noisy
The best thing about Storico was our waiter Sam who oversaw our meal, gave us recommendations on cook times, and safe alternatives based on my daughters food allergies. Least appealing is the dinner value. Yes the presentation is artful, but the prices are too high for a suburbanite who might expect the whole bronzino, not the half filet for dinner price. So I recommend this for lunch not dinner.
It’s a pretty restaurant and conveniently located near Central Park and other attractions, but the food was mediocre and the wait for the food was exceedingly long. For the price, I would not recommend it.
wonderful restaurant in the New York Historical Society with an outside entrance to accommodate dining when the NYHS is closed. the food is excellent - the service attentive and warm - fresh local ingredients and freshly prepared lemonade, drinks, and a lovely setting make this a very good place to come.
The services we the best I've experienced in a comparably priced restaurant. Great coffee. Difficult to find but worth it.
Two appetizers - the Jerusalem artichokes and the fried zucchini strips - were great. Melting texture on the sunchokes, though not everyone was thrilled by the bagna cauda. Very good batter on the zucchini, very well fried. Main courses didn't fare so well - poor pasta, salty fish, food not cooked to order. The managment was very responsive. Bottom line: you go here for one reason only - you are going to an exhibit in the historical society. There, I strongly recommend the Tiffany lamps. The exhibit is permanent, beautifully displayed, interactive (you can design the colors in a lamp), and very instructive. Who knew that Clara Driscoll was the main designer of so many Tiffany lamps? Well, the people at the historical society know and inform the rest of us. They should be called Driscoll lamps. There's a fascinating gender aspect as well as an artistic aspect.
Lunch with family. Efficient service and tasty food.
Outstanding service by ‘Lucky.’ Our Server, courteous, informative, engaging and smart.
Dining superb, raddixchio salad., branzino, imaginatively and carefully prepared. Felt fresh and intriguing.
All enjoyed their meals from Salads to pasta to scallops and the Osobuco. Very pleasant bright surroundings and friendly and efficient service from all members of the team.
Food always very good. Such juicy chicken! Service fantastic and warm. Music choice not quite matching the style of the place we thought. Maybe less commercial pop, more jazz or something more classic.
Had a reservation. Place was mostly empty. We asked for a specific empty table. Hostess said that it was reserved. But when we departed 90 minutes later it had never been occupied and restaurant was still mostly empty. Mark that up to a poor hostess. Still an excellent meal and evening.
