The food was very good, the service very slow, and the prices very high.
This is one of my favorite restaurants! I love the food and the ambiance.
Love this restaurant. Always delicious
V g food and service. But very very loud and clattering, at least at lunch. Hard to have much of a conversation at lunch. Also is a harsh, cold-feeling room.
As always, the ambiance and friendliness of staff, willingness to prepare something not on the menu - scrambled eggs in this case - was excellent. One relatively minor annoyance this time was our drinks and appetizers did not arrive for a long long time! When they did arrive - our main course arrived shortly thereafter. So timing was a bit off on this visit. And - our party of 5 was there for a 1pm brunch and they were out of some items already!
Esperaba más, me parecio cafeteria equis de museo.
Great stop for a unique NYC dinner out. Highly recommend stopping by.
delicious salads, great crispy chicken, tasty branzino,
great happy hour at bar
Our group had an excellent experience. It was quiet, a lovely setting and the food was delicious.
We are dined early so it was quite. I understand it can be noisy. Menu is limited and food is so so but it is a nice spot especially if you are attending NYHS programs.
I was so excited to bring my friend to this restaurant because I came here four years ago and absolutely loved it. We received our orders… Mine was the chicken and his was the sausage and both of us simultaneously exclaimed at the ridiculously high level of salt that tasted as though it had been injected by the truckload. Because we had a schedule to keep we did not complain until at the end we told the waitperson about it. We feel we should’ve gotten some sort of reduction of our bill due to the awful awful food. I will never recommend this place to anyone. Hugely disappointing!
Our food was excellent, except for the cavatelli that were hard and heavy. WE waited longer than usual for mos our meal, but it was worth it.
The waitress was fabulous and the general ambiance is really nice, except for the noise.
Great place! Excellent Pasta! We will return for sure!
Best museum restaurant. Very creative chef. I always try to replicate their recipes when I get back home.
Brunch a Year ago was delicious. Lunch yesterday was terrible. Risotto was terrible and hamburger was tasteless. PLEASE IMPROVE THE FOOD!
A very good restaurant tucked away in the New York Historical Society.
We had a lecture to attend at 7PM ( in the building) and told the waiter that we must be out. He acknowledged that all the diners were in the same boat and there was no problem. We got our main course at 6:35-40 and obviously did not have a relaxing meal. Actually, we barely ate our main course.
When we returned after the lecture to have a drink at the bar, we ordered a desert to share which was a butterscotch something that was described to be a pudding which we selected. When the bartender delivered it, we said it was not at all as described. More like a soup. He turned and said that he, "would let the chef know". Well that is a lame response to a dissatisfied customer. All in all, Storica needs some good restaurant management.
if you are going to the museum, have lunch or dinner there by all means!
Excellant food. Great hamburger.
Always a culinary treat! Our favorite celebration venue.
I love their appetizers and entree, well presented and delicious. They used seasonal vegetables rather than the usual, which was a delight. My fish was just rIghtly grilled, though I had better chocolate cakes before. I went there for lunch, so I really enjoyed the wonderful natural lighting from their big windows, against the white walls and the extraordinary high ceiling. The cabinet decor added a bit history to the modern ambience. Originally I worried that the hard walls would have created a high sound level and bad for conversations, but it was acceptable. Their service is overall attentive. I would definitely go back again and recommend to friends.
Food was great and the atmosphere is amazing! Definitely will be back.
We have been going to Storico from the beginning. Lovely setting. Friendly wait staff. Really liked the original avant-garde Italian menu. Current menu is fine but less adventuresome. Takes longer than we expect for food to arrive. Feels like there is a shortage of kitchen staff. Very good eggs Benedict with salmon and with prosciutto and spinach. Generous portion of butterscotch budino was light, delicious and ample for two. We remain fans.
I was very pleasantly surprised !for a big open space it was cozy and we were not seated next to anyone which made it lovely to talk and not hear the neighbors conversation.Thank You!
Consistently very good food and wait staff. Even though the restaurant is crowded, we have no trouble hearing ourselves talk.
The location was convenient for me at that time. The space is clean and pretty but it is hard to have a conversation because it's loud. Food was so-so, not memorable but not horrible. Service was good.
Great service. Tasty lunch though the sausage sandwich was hard to eat. Sliced the sausage to eat. Bread very chewy.
Our server disappeared between the appetizer and main course. Another server came to the rescue. Salad I ordered was fresh but dressing was tasteless.
Convenient and pleasant dining when visiting NY Historical Society. Limited menu, good service.
One of my favorites but it worries me that on a Friday night the restaurant was less than 50% full. I’m not a restaurant manager but a few things that I believe would want me to come back. First given it was so empty, as opposed to be seated right next to another table, could have given us table well positioned especially since I had made a reservation and a repeat customer at that. Clearly there”s not a lot of consideration given for repeat customers, that should be easy to do in this digital age.
From a food perspective, wine list is very small and not a lot of choices, given that then your choices should be very selective and diverse enough in price points, but not. We settled on a wine that was okay but not at the price point we would have preferred. The brAised octopus was one of the tenderest we”be ever had and great taste. The pasta was excellent. The fried zucchini was well done but an added condiments like a garlic aoli would have really added to the plate. In addition, we had to ask for Parmesan for the pasta bolognese. Service was ok.
I love this place and the ambiance and I think the food can be great here. I want it to be successful but it’s also disappointing to come and know that with a little bit of more effort and care this could be a special place.
Great branzino and eggplant pasta.
the fried zucchini is tasteless .Its all fried.Good wines by the glass.
Appealing for its location inside the NY Historical Society, it's convenient if you're attending an evening event there. Storico occupies a beautiful airy white space. The service is cheerful and friendly, but the food is subpar. Zucchini sticks were mushy and cold. The presentation of the pate was too messy to eat easily; I inadvertently sent gobs of it flying across the table. The pesto spaghetti was tasty, but drenched in too much sauce. I'll return for the ambiance and convenience, not for the food.
Food terrific- lovely presentation
Always noisy because of high ceilings but not too busy to make it annoying
Service friendly and efficient
It’s always a warm place with very attentive service.
Lovely restaurant inside the museum but it 's rather pricey and the food quality is just average. I got sick from the chicken sausage sandwich and perhaps that's why I have such a poor review.
Not threat. Just ok.
If you are looking for a fine meal on the Upper West Side, this handsome, classy Italian restaurant located inside the New-York Historical Society is an excellent place for lunch, drinks, or dinner. Of course, if you are visiting the museum—which consistently features lively, interesting exhibitions—it's incredibly convenient. Our seafood and pasta dishes were fresh and delicious, and the service was attentive and friendly. And there's even a reduced-drinks happy hour from 5 PM to 7 PM. This was our second visit to Storico—and we'll definitely be back.
Loud, not for conversation. Food Fine. Wait service very good, but was understaffed the day I was there. They did the best they could and that was appreciated: a management failure. Will go again.
The Branzino is to die for! I confess I haven't ordered anything else 3 times in a row but it's simply that good.
