Storico Ratings and Reviews
I loved Storico when it first opened. Then I thought it lost of bit of its quality and was also disappointed that they took the hamburger off the menu. So I hadn't been back in a while.
I'm so glad I gave it another shot. We had an excellent experience there last Saturday night: Superlative service from the manager and waiter and unusually delicious fresh food. Everything top-notch. Excellent value for money. I am so thrilled to have Storico in the neighborhood! Highly recommend.
The two of us had completely different dining experiences. My companion enjoyed his food very much. I did not. Specifically, I don't recommend ordering the foie gras torchon as it wasn't very good. Also, the order for one of my dishes wasn't processed (a "computer problem") until I asked where the food was. I think the problems are in the kitchen. Management was quite nice, however, about making up for this.
I really enjoyed this restaurant. The atmosphere was very nice, relaxing and not noisy at all. The service was wonderful, they facilitated a special request with no problem and the food was very good. Amazing Brussel Spouts. I would look forward to going back.
This was our first disappointing meal at Storico. The pasta with olive oil had a veritable pool of oil at the bottom of the dish. The second pasta dish had so much salt it was inedible. And, one of the pancakes was slightly burned on the bottom. Careless mistakes in a restaurant that was almost empty when we began our brunch on Sunday.
This is the second time i lunched at Storico in the last few months. Both times the food was wonderful. Fresh, healthy and different. Be ready to try something new when you ear here and you won't be disappointed. It bright and inviting and busy. Don't expect a private quiet lunch!
We brought friends here because the restaurant is so pretty and near the museum we visited. Sadly, we were disappointed. There was a hair in my salad and my guest found a hair in his French fries. We brought this to the attention of the staff. Overall the food quality and kitchen standards need improvement.
Fabulous dinner Tuesday evening after the lecture. The chicken, beef, cod all outstanding.
Service was friendly and considerate- always keeping us informed of the progress of our dinner.
Lucky was our server - simply spectacular, such a pleasure!
We, of course , will return.
The lobster tagliatelle and the sea bass were both delicious. Very friendly service. The room is very pretty. Convenient for this museum or for American Museum of Natural history. Nice for latte and dessert as well. I wish they had more vegetarian options and pastas
Perhaps some Open Table reviewers or New Yorkers have a different expectation of what a good cafe should be as some reviews left an impression of general decline in food quality, menu offerings and service. However, there was nothing of the sort. On the contrary, we were rather pleased with what we encountered at Caffe Storico. The interesting menu had sufficient variety and the food was simply very good in tasting and presentation. Main dish pastas are perfect sizes and not obscenely large as at so many other American places and done to near perfection. Sensible portions, excellent food preparation, a nice variety to choose from, priced at reasonable (for Manhattan) prices plus good service. What more is there to ask for in a non pretentious lunch or dinner.
We used to love this restaurant -- food was amazing, incredible service and beautiful space and location--we have taken many friends and family. The last 3 times (2 dinner and one brunch) it was horrible for the food and service. The menus were limited, but if limited should be delicious and special-- just was lackluster and couldn't decide if it was heavy or light. Service was atrocious on all fronts.
Great expectations were left unmet in all areas except our table server who was the only redeeming quality. The hostess was not respectful nor knowledgeable. Cuisine was lackluster. Perhaps we chose the wrong items. Our server Chantel is a rock star who has a future in management. Her demeanor in an untenable situation was exceptional. It was a shame. Even an exceptional server could not save the experience. Other than a server who tried very diligently this venue needs to screen its staff and quality of the cuisine.
