Stoney's Stone Crab
Food and service were great!
Excellent food and service. But it was New Year's Eve and most of the tables were empty. Had the same experience at lunch. Love their inside out grilled cheese sandwich at lunch.
server Joyce = excellent service. however more than an hour passed from placing order to delivery of entrees with no explanation or apology. Food arrived at room temperature at best. premium prices for poor kitchen. perhaps they were understaffed. nice people but they let us down and did not even acknowledge the situation. on the other hand, the appetizers were tasty and promptly served.
the service was not great and it wasn't because the restaurant was busy- because it was not-- they served 3 of us before they brought the 4th (after i asked a hostess about it) . food was fair--nothing great-- i would not go back
Service was exceedingly poor. Server had no knowledge of the menu or drink selection. Order was taken after sitting in restaurant for 45 minutes and well after appetizers were finished. Appetizers were very good but entrees were ok. Very disappointing experience.
We went for stone crabs Christmas Eve, guess what? No stone crabs at all. We should of left, but I’m glad we stayed to tell you that it is really not a good place to dine.
We usually go to Trulucks for stone crabs or pick them up at Wynn’s. Change of plans brought us to Stoney’s.
Poor service, there was a private party in half of the Restsurant and it was really loud, kids screaming, no control.
Mediocre food and service. Won’t be rushing back.
7 of us ladies lunch. There was only one other table occupied but the music was so loud that it was hard to carry on conversation or hear server. The 2 for 20 lunch specials were very generous. I had the beef tataki which was under flatbread section but just was sliced beef with a side of Cole slaw so was disappointed. The beef was cooked and seasoned perfectly though.
Dinner was ok. We went with friends and were treated well. However, three of the four meals gad some problems. One order was for shrimp scampi. The pasta was not just aldente but was half cooked. Our friend just ate the shrimp and bread. My husband and I ordered the seafood cioppino. It was very tasty, bot the king crab legs were Not cracked. Had to ask for “crackers” and a mallet. We also had to ask for tablespoons for the sauce. In addition, we had to ask for hand wipes!
We all did enjoy the appetizers and the bread.
I know this restaurant is newly opened, but they need to step up to be popular.
Best part of dinner was the shrimp cocktail - huge, delicious shrimp. The Grouper was bland and not very tasty and the service was so-so. Didn't stay for dessert. The women's room was a mess. Three of four stalls were out of commission.
If I could have given (0) stars I would have. What a disappointment. The place was almost empty at 6:30 -7 on a Sunday night and now I know why. First it took over 30 minutes for someone to take our drink order. Then another 30 for our food order which ended up being the hostess who knew virtually nothing about anything on the menu. As for the food...The 1/2 off appetizers calamari and oysters were very very good but they charged us full price. One of the dinners arrived cold and it was one of the specials and there is nothing good about cold fish. Unfortunately no one ever came back to ask how everything was. By the time they came over everyone else had finished their meal. They did take this entrée off the bill. Also very shocked by the price of the stone crab. $18 PER CLAW? I thought with a name like Stoneys Stone Crab they would have decent price on their signature item. Don't think we will be returning.
Stone crabs ordered were not fresh, small (overprized) and upon my request for warm drawn butter for the stone crabs, I received hot oil that tasted disgusting and ruined whatever stone crab tast there was and my wife's backed oysters tasted funny and were full of shells or sand - the meal was comped since they admitted kitchen had made a mistake with the hot oil, but still, it was disappointing.
No atmosphere whatsoever, at 7:30 pm just a few tables were occupied.
Unless this restaurant makes some dramatic changes I don't see it thrive ...
We really just expected a 'crab place', nothing spectacular. We live nearby, and wanted a quick dinner. We were amazingly surprised! From the waitstaff, (formerly trained) to the extensive menu, nothing was less than 5 star. The menu is so big, and the restaurant was so quiet that we dialed down our expectations. After all, how could they manage to serve a great meal with so many selections and very little business? We couldn't have been more pleased. It was like having a private chef in the kitchen and nothing was overlooked. I can't wait to go back. I highly recommend. The food was just delicious, perfectly prepared, accompanied with creative sides that were also delicious. I would have skipped this request for a review, except this place deserves customers. Their hard work and dedication shows in everything they do.! Go!
It was ok. New. Have to get some kinks out. Stone crabs were not served with sauce. Waitress ask if we wanted bread half way thru our meal. Food took awhile.
We had a very enjoyable dinner at Stoney’s. It was a beautiful evening, so we sat outside. The interior of Stoney’s is lovely. Service was impeccable, our hostess and server were very friendly and helpful.
My son and I had the Branzini, which was just delishious and my daughter-in-law had the King crab legs, which she loved. My husbands steak was a little overdone, so he was not as thrilled as the rest of us, but other than that, a perfectly yummy experience!
Well worth trying. Creative! Try the “ bamboo rice”.
Great meal great service !
The restaurant is new and a work in progress. We came for stone crab, but were shocked by the prices, posted on a black board. One claw for $30+? We were told that claws were brought in from "up north" and not locally available, due to red tide, hence the price. We opted for other dishes. We liked the Pompano - but it came without any side dishes, which are quite pricey. I ordered 12 clams, 6 each from the two clam varieties available. The larger ones were meaty and delicious, the littleneck clams, on the other hand, were so tiny that there was literally no meat to be extracted. After a failed replacement, I received six more of the larger clams, which I was happy to accept. Both the manager and her superior came to the table and apologized and we were pleased to see that they were genuinely concerned. Since the restaurant had only been open for about one week, it is understandable for some glitches to occur.
We will definitely go back - the restaurant space is very pleasant and quiet and I am sure they will work out the kinks.
Save for the $$ for rare stone crabs, our experience would have been exceptional. Wait staff outstanding.
Rae was fantastic server
Chef was awesome; couldn’t believe he came out to see us
Happy hours a great one
The food and service were great. The ambiance was average.
going for happy hour might be a better choice. Dinner was anything special.
Celebrated the end of stone crab season at Stoney's, a relatively new restaurant in Naples Bayfront area. I ordered a jumbo and large claw a la carte with Brussels sprouts and french fries as sides. Companions ordered the medium crab claw dinner and a steak. All were absolutely delicious. We had wine by the glass and a champagne cocktail; both very good. The brussels sprouts are a reason to frequent this place; they were so divine that I placed a to go order (not for calorie counters!). Wonderful experience. Our waiter, Brian, was visible and attentive throughout.
Our dining experience was amazing partially due to the excellent service. We will definitely return. Great food, great service and the music choice was so much fun!
Outstanding fresh seafood and great service and beautiful interior. I highly recommend Stoney's Stone Crab.
Mussels. Awesome. I ate the two person seafood platter. Perfect. Great spot in town and the restaurant was beautiful!!
Dined on a Saturday night with our son and daughter in law from Maine. Would have given all 5 stars but my husband’s fish and chips were over-fried and dry. He should have sent his meal back but chose not to.
We ordered a seafood tower for 4, one person had stone crab dinner, one had surf and turf and one had the small filet mignon with a side of asparagus. 3 of the 4 loved their dinners.
We chose to sit outside even though it was a bit breezy. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. He did not rush us as we enjoyed a couple of rounds of drinks.
The free valet parking was a plus.
We are full time Naples residents and will definitely return.
My wife's friends sent her a gift card to Stoney's for her birthday and we ask 2 other couples to join us. The restaurant is very nice, except for a screaming child and we were promptly seated at a nice table for 6. The white haired waiter had everyone confused explaining the Stone Crab options 10 Med $65, ? Large 75 ? Huge $105, no mention of sides and was noticeably irritated when we ask questions, no one ordered the Stone Crab. I ordered a Chalk Hill Chard for my wife, over priced at $15 a glass and when I ask if they offered the 6 and 9 oz pour he snapped "we are not a country club". I also ask if it was better to order my Ketel One as a Martini up or on the rocks, this nearly put him over the edge. When he returned with the drinks, I mentioned at dinner last night at the Bay House on the rocks was 2oz and up was 3oz for $2 more and they offered 6 and 9oz pours, after that I could never get his attention and he was extremely arrogant. I decided on mussels and lobster bisque and my wife had a salad and crab cakes. The mussels we fantastic, but the bisque was uneatable, brown, with a single lobster claw that was like rubber. I complained to the waiter about the lobster claw and he said it s just garnish. I took a spoonful of the bisque and said I can't eat this, he then got the manager who said I agree it looks terrible I wouldn't eat it, can I get you something else and I declined. My wife salad was awful, tomatoes were mushy, crab cake just OK. Other diners some good some OK. Then they brought what was supposed to be the complementary Key Lime Pie, which was awesome and we all enjoyed it, but they charge $8 on my bill. I ask what other Chardonnay they had and was told Coppola $9 so I ordered a glass, when I got the bill it was Mondavi Woodbrige. We wanted to take pictures but the waiter was so arrogant I didn't ask. We will not be back!
Just ok. We felt it was overpriced. I ordered the conch chowder followed by grilled salmon and a side of garlic butter spinach. All sides were ala-cart. My chowder, with a tomato base, although missing conch was good. My salmon was 1/2 of a normal serving at most other places and overcooked to the point of being crispy in the outside. Once I broke through the "crunch", it was moist but not the way it should be. It was also sitting in a pool of flavorless oil or I don't know what. Needless to say, been there done that.
First time there and we won’t go back. The blackened grouper was under cooked and the manager tried to say it just looked undercooked because of the lighting. Finally they decided to bring us another one which also didn’t taste right. When we got the bill they charged us for both. The waiter argued with us that we ordered a second one and we had to speak with the manager again. Not worth it to many nice restaurants with great food to go to
Waiter was confused the whole night. Forgot part of order, brought out wrong meal and at dessert when he got it right thought he had it wrong. Meals were just so so
My husband had Salmon. It was OK and very small but we think it was due to the special that included soup or salad and dessert. My shrimp was OK also. The best was the dessert which we pick the Key Lime pie. The service was fine. We sat outside and that was fine, did people watching. Would we return I guess. Did not wowl us over I guess down the road we would try it again. I really cannot say anything bad about the restaurant.
So try it.
Great (new) server Peter will be great addtion to stoneys
I'm sorry I cannot give you a 5 star rating as I had expected my experience would be. I had to ask for someone to take cocktail order. Manager finally took order since our waiter left. Salad was not fresh and it had to be replaced with a soup. Table could have been cleaned of crumbs while we waited for dessert.
Steak was fatty. Friends Grouper seemed tough. Bread was good. Bernaise was spicy ( a surprise)
Arrived at 6:30 was immediately taken to our table, then noticed the Manager semi-yelling at the receptionist. No more tables for him. Ordered appetizers and drinks. The whole time while eating our waiter never came back to get our dinner order. After apps were cleared away our waiter finally returned. Ordered waited another 20 for our meal. One meal was wrong, mine was inedible. At this time the manager is in yelling mode at his staff at the corner of the restaurant. If I wanted to here people yelling I’d of stayed home. It was a mess. The manger took mine off the bill but after asking about the wrong order. He stated that he could only give 10%. I told him nobody ever came to check on our meal. So why am I paying for a wrong order. My opinion is no manager should ever yell at their staff in front of customers EVER. I will not be going back
Food, Service, Ambience phenomenal! Started with drinks and “ the Best” Oysters Rockefeller at the bar with Mike at happy hour pricing worth checking out. Ordered their specialty Lobster dinner, they ran out of the small size so Freddy the mgr upgraded to the larger size at no additional price. This restaurant is a great addition to Naples and... Free Valet for your convenience. Also a great location at Bayfront steps from Tin City and close the the vibrant 5th Ave
Staff was slow and inexperienced stone crab was great.
The food is as alright. The service was very slow - it took a very long time for a server to greet us/ take our drink order and a long time to get drinks. The food was good, but probably not worth the price. The server forgot to bring our drinks, but did remember to put them on the bill!
Enjoyed Stoney’s w/my adult son on a Saturday evening in season. Got reservations & liked our table.
Seafood was excellent & very fresh !!
Hostess not really attentive to door. No welcome or smiles.
Would return but very $$
