Stonewood Grill & Tavern - North Sarasota Ratings and Reviews
This was my first time coming to this restaurant and I had high expectations. I was not disappointed. Enjoyed a great scallop appetizer, a nice crab crusted flounder and then was blown away by the bread pudding dessert. The dessert alone is worth the trip! Enjoy!!
It took a long time (45 mnutes) to receive our food and when we did, my hamburger was overcooked. I decided that it wasn't worth the wait to send it back and just ate my potato. The waitress was nice and the manager took the charge off the bill, but this is the third time in a row that I have received a medium well instead of a medium rare burger. Wish the kitchen would get its act together. My friends were happy with their salads. I generally like eating at Stonewood. The booths are comfortable and the noise level is not so bad that you can't maintain a conversation..
We chose Stonewood Grill because we have always had a great meal at this restaurant. The menu has a varied selection to suit all tastes. The wait staff is attentive and meals are served in a timely manor. They have a very nice wine list. Unlike many local restaurants , they do take reservations. I have never had to wait beyond my scheduled time.
Not sure if I would recommend it or not. This is the second time we tried dinner. First time in the lounge was by far better but not excellent. Service and food was much better. This weekend with taking friends to dinner, services was very slow, only refilled some drinks, forgot the others until we asked again. Two fish dishes came out totally cold while the steak came out warm. On the crab cake appetizer way too much sauce smothered the crab cakes that we had to scrap it off. Also, while our lady guest was still eating, with fork in her hand, the server reached for her plate to take it away and her husband had to tell him she was still eating, he said that he didn’t notice, sorry, and put the plate back down.
Very embarrassing for us taking friends out to dinner and having service like that plus cold food. If we go back I guess we’ll sit in the lounge, even with guest.
Three friends went to dinner -- we have dined at this same location several times before.
This time, the food quality (specifically the prime rib sandwich and the prime rib large cut) were below the standard received in prior visits (they were cooked perfectly, just not an impressive prime rib). This has never been the case. However, our server was EXCELLENT; appetizer was excellent, salads and soups were excellent (pre-dinner rolls were disappointing). We will dine there again, but will not order beef.
Always a great place. However, wine list has changed and good Pinot’s like Flowers are no longer on the menu and no taste testing for new ones. In addition the Florida Orange is being taken off. So some of those things that bring us are slowly disappearing which means we may also be disappearing for a while...
I’ve been to Stonewood several times in the past and found it very good. The quality of the food was very good this time but for the price the portion was very small which was very disappointing. One of my favorites in the past was the pork chops which my husband ordered. They were very thin and overcooked. They used to be very thick and yummy.
Reservation with special request was very easy to make, host acknowledged request and readily honored it. Woodford Manhattan was perfect. Server was pleasant, knowledgeable, attentive, but did not hover. We were not rushed. Everyone enjoyed their meal. But, like everything else in Sarasota, it's overpriced.
Had pork Marsala (on specials menu). Clever choice. Pork tenderloin grilled (with nice smoky flavor) and marsala sauce with tasty mushrooms w/ pasta. Most marsala dishes sauce the meat but I liked your version. Wedge salad was presented beautifully. Quite a bit of real bleu cheese crumbles.
Our server (forgot her name) was attentive and professional. You trained her well.
Well when we arrived, we waited over 20 minutes before our server arrived to take our drink and appetizer order. After getting our drinks, and our appetizers the waitress took our dinner order. Mind you that we told her we had our full order when she arrived to take our order for our drinks. We had to ask for bread and pretzel bread in order to get it. After receiving our dinner entrees they were cold and room temperature. When eating our dinner a Busser dropped all his dishes, near us and all the other waitress and other people walked around him without helping him. We thought the poor guy arms was gonna fall off waiting to be helped. It seems a lack of teamwork and satisfaction for the customer. The service is not the same as it use to be. Drinks were always empty and had to ask for refills
The menu has a great variety. The service was superb from the moment we entered, until we left. When I asked where the ladies room was, the hostess was so gracious and even walked me to it. The food was tasty. We started with the Stone Bits appetizer. The meat was so tender. My friend had the Tuscan chicken and was moaning. I had Salmon over an Asian slaw. YUM! I mentioned to our waiter that I was treating my friend for her birthday. He offered two choices for a complimentary dessert. Will definitely return. Highly suggest this restaurant.
