Stonewood Grill & Tavern - North Sarasota Ratings and Reviews
Been to this restaurant many times and maybe because it was very crowded due to it being New Years Eve, but this was not up to par. A filet mignon ordered medium rare came well done and was very dry. The manager wanted to replace it because he admitted it "wasn't close" to medium rare. My companion said no but it was taken off our bill which we didn't want either. But not only was it way overcooked it was not a quality cut of steak for which they charge $30.....hopefully, this was a one time situation that won't happen again because there are many restaurants in our area now and a lot of competition....
We went to Stonewood for New Years Eve dinner and we were so impressed how great the service was. We had expected not to sit down at the time of our reservation but we were sat immediately. ( we were seated way in the back by the bathrooms , but when asked to be moved the manager said no problem) the food was also great. The server was very friendly and we never once felt rushed. On a side note if the weather was good they do have an awesome patio. ( it was cold this year so we were inside)
We will definitely go back!!
New Years Eve 2017 was a disaster for six of us! ALL the meals were lukewarm. A $39 Lobster Tail and Prime Rib special had a Prime Rib about 1/4 inch thick and too well done. The broccoli side was undercooked and hard. The lamb chops for the second meal was small, full of gristle and the diner declared it "the worst ever eaten."
The flounder with crab stuffing was cold and swimming in a gelatinous mess of a sauce. The flounder was too well done. The final straw was the 5th meal. The Grouper arrived overcooked - even after the waitress was told to make sure the kitchen did not overcook the fish. When that was taken back, that diner ate bread while we continued to eat. Finally after we were all done eating the manager showed up with the grouper which was still too well done. The meal was left on the plate.
The manager did attempt to remedy the situation by taking $15 off each couple's meal and comping the grouper disaster. Nonetheless, it was a disappointing start to what should have been a lovely evening.
I was disappointed with the Rosemary lamb chops. For about ten years, Stonewood was my standard for lamb chops. No longer, they have changed the presentation and served few chops while raising the price by about 11%. In comparison, our Social Security increase for 2018 was 2%.
Cocktails were very reasonable during happy hour and our server Kristin did a nice job for us.
We celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary just before Christmas. The service was spectacular, attentive and caring. Dave, the manager, was very kind. Everyone made this a special event. We had prime rib and lobster tail, perfectly cooked and a huge portion. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented.
would recommend for a special event or just a great meal anytime!
We had asked for a quiet table when the reservation was made more than a week ago.we were seated where all the waiters and food were coming from the kitchen,Noisy. When our waiter arrived he rattled off all the things no longer on the menu .Not helpful.I was interested in what was on the menu. Our drinks were not good. The manager did comp them.Thank you. My shrimp and scallops were very tasty. My friends prime was not good.the manager brought another dish for her. IStonewood has been a favorite for years.I am sure it will be better next time.
We started going to Stonewood Grill back in Lake Mary where they started. The last four times we've been to the restaurant at this location, mistakes were made with our order three out times. After tonight, I just don't feel like going back. I ordered a fish with one of the accompaniments. Fish came with nothing. I point it out. They leave the fish. At some point later someone brings me a dish with some stuff and a big blob of unmelted cheese. I said that doesn't look right. He says the cheese is supposed to melt when put on a hot dish - I don't have a hot dish. He takes what he brought back. A few minutes later the waitress asks me if they want to microwave the cheese. I've already eaten half the fish. I say forget it. No manager, no apology, no nothing. I had been looking forward to this meal, and I was disappointed. There are plenty of restaurants in Sarasota to eat at. We won't be back.
We had eaten here a few years ago and then wrote it off. We decided to give it another chance, however, there still is nothing special about this place. Their service is always very slow, we had to flag down the wait person as she would just walk by at a quick pace, never looking our way. We all know that is something that happens a lot at a lot of places that serve food. The food was mediocre at best, not much flavor. I had crusted flounder and my husband had some filets of beef with shrimp. He said his was not great. Half way through the meal the wait person brought over some bread. We each had two glasses of wine. At least they could pour 3/4 of a glass of wine into the glass, as a half glass of wine does not look like a glass of wine to us. Nevertheless, the bill was $100 and not worth it. Kona Grill at UTC mall and Brio are much better values for the money. I am not going back.
I, with a varying assortment of family and/or friends, have been coming to Stonewood since it opened. I especially like the idea of the "call ahead" plan and even more now that I can do it online. We were there Saturday night to celebrate my neighbor's ninety-second birthday a day early, and she was just thrilled with everything. Thank you for your consistency over the years.
We went there for Thanksgiving dinner. Our reservation was honored as soon as we arrived. The service was outstanding and the Thanksgiving turkey meal was just like I made it at home. The turkey gravy was especially super. Stonewood Grill really created a wonderful Thanksgiving meal.
