Opened in August 2013, Stoneacre Pantry was a neighborhood restaurant focused on sustainability and a positive relationship with our local environment. We brought these same values to our newest restaurant in Washington Square in September 2017. Our menu is small, seasonal, and supports nearby farms and fishermen with fish from nearby waters and meats from local farms that raise their animals humanely. The wine list highlights small producers from France and many of our cocktails have house-made components.

Atmosphere was great, servers were very friendly and attentive. Food tasted good, but small portions and priced higher than we expected for a neighborhood brasserie concept. Every dish we ordered was smaller than we expected it to be when it arrived. Overall experience was fine, but won't rush back.
We had a wonderful meal and the service was terrific. We shared an appetizer, a salad and an entree and we really appreciated that the salad and entree were split for us. Cocktail and wine selection was also very good and we loved the atmosphere.
The place is very cool but way too noisy. At times it’s tough to carry a conversation with someone across the table from you. I wasn’t too impressed with the food either. My wife and I both had the braised beef, which was seasoned and cooked nicely, but the bed of risotto it was served on was room temperature and undercooked, very al dente. The appetizer and desert weren’t particularly special either. I wouldn’t mind giving Stoneacre another chance with the food, however recalling the noise levels will probably prompt me to go elsewhere. I strongly suggest putting up some sound deadening materials to help.
Dining room nicely appointed. Ambiance looks nice from outside, but inside acoustics aren't great -very noisy. I could hear the conversations from the tables on each side of me better than my date across the table.
Beet salad good, french onion soup very good, braised beef perfectly cooked, but some of the braise or a nice reduction over it would have given it more flavor. It was a place piece of meat over the risotto. Risotto was undercooked and lacked flavor. I would have appreciated if one of the waitstaff would have offered fresh ground pepper and/or s & p for the table. We ordered a nice bottle of wine, but no one came to top for us. Not a big deal. We're fine to top ourselves, but for this type of restaurant, I would think it would be part of the service. Chocolate mousse was nice - and light, not too chocolatey.
Excellent service and good food. Great ambience.
Nice busy night, but it was Newport restaurant week so that would be expected. It Was busy and energetic and a bit noisy but great conversation going on everywhere. We opted for the three-course restaurant week special menu and the food was really good some dishes could’ve been a little warmer but the service was great they all worked as a team and everything seemed to flow nicely.
After a couple of recent disappointments, the team at Stoneacre was back in great form. It was crowded, the service was excellent, and the food was excellent. The majority of our party opted for steak frites, but the sweet potato pasta was a hit. Great wine list. Had a very subtle Sancerre rouge. Everyone was happy.
They seem to be handling the move to a much larger space well. The food was great. My grapefruit martini was fairly blah - not at all the magical drink it was the first time I ever had it.
Still, I recommend Stone Acre highly to all !
LOVE this place...the ambiance is fabulous, the service is warm and welcoming and then there's the food...one of our favorite spots in town for these local folk!!!don't miss if you're traveling through and if you're another local, you already understand what a gem this place is in town.
Staff was very attentive. Food was excellent. We were seated very close to another couple. I think more space between seatings would make for a better experience.
Good meal. The only negative is that we like to eat at the bar, but didn't realize until too late that three peop[le had turned the restaurant into their office. They had laptops out and cell phone going ... very rude to the lunch customers. Management should turn off the open wi-fi during dinning hours, 11 to 1 a 6.
In a sailing town I can’t believe you cannot get Mt Gay Rum at Stoneacre Brasserie. Wait staff was capable but lacked any personality. Just an average dining experience.
Really nice restaurant with great food and service. Highly recommended
Loved it from the moment we entered until the moment we left. Tiffany our waitress. Excited to return.
Delicious. Trendy. Great service. Love the ambiance.
I rarely write reviews, but my husband and I have been to Stoneacre many times and the food is always good. The service is hit or miss. Saturday was a HUGE miss. Although the manager apologized and was very nice, our waitperson seemed completely unconcerned and far too busy with her paperwork to notice or investigate why our entrees took nearly one hour to arrive. The wine we ordered could not be found, which would have been fine had they not taken half an hour to tell us. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy. We probably will return sometime in the future but not soon.
We really enjoyed ourselves. Service was great, the food was wonderful. Loved the ambiance. Prefer a little more distance between tables for privacy and intimacy, but we ended up having a great chat with our neighbors. Only complaint was the volume. Just too loud - nothing to absorb the sound.
We had an EXTRA ORDINARY experience at Stoneacre during Newport restaurant week. Not only were we served exemplary delicacies from the menu, the chef sent out an amuse-bouche as a beginning surprise as well as a mini tasty sweet at the end. All for the restaurant week price of $35. per person.
The service was A+ In fact- it was beyond an A+. We were so thoughtfully cared for throughout our meal, I thought I was in a Michelin star restaurant.
As a Newport resident for many years, I am thrilled to recommend Stoneacre to my many summer guests.
Had a nice experience dining again at Stoneacre.
My very first visit there their GF bread was one of the best ever tasted. Now they give you store bought toast. Sorry, that doesn’t work for me. Go back to making your own bread.
The main course was delicious. The dessert was also delicious. I was rather shocked at the size though. About a quarter of a cup worth of panna cotta. 🙃
Overall, satisfied, and would go back.
Fantastic food, staff, and place. A bit pricier than some other places in town but also more upscale. Delicious and a lot of food. The iced tea is one of the best iced teas I’ve ever drank. The wait staff also kept coming by with little complementary and delicious things from the kitchen for us to try between our appetizer and main course. The meatballs appetizer is the closest I’ve tasted to my own 100% Italian grandmother’s in years. Highly recommend.
My favorite place to eat in Newport! The food and service are impeccable!
Excellent drinks, amazing food, great service. Overall an excellent option for any occasion.
We thoroughly enjoyed Stoneacre Brasserie. We made the reservation on Open Table and indicated it was our anniversary. As we walked in they wished us Happy Anniversary. They served one amuse to each table, we got four. After the meal with the check they served a couple of sweets. We got 4. The food was wonderful, the service was great. We want to single out Kate, our server, for going above and beyond. We will definitely be back.
Very good! A little loud. Excellent service. Didn’t care for high top table tho
Great food, generous portions, good location and our server was terrific. I'd definitely go again!
Without a doubt Rebecca our server made our visit unforgettable. We have been to Stoneacre before and it never disappoints us. Great food and service. Look forward to our next time.
We sat at the bar and had great service. Food was delicious, will be eating there again!
We were there for rhe JPT Film event of Big Night..a special menu was advertised- highlighting Timpano- the dish from the Film. We had a 6 pm( early) seating, and they told us they were out of Timpano...so we left...
Reasonably priced brasserie in nice area with well thought out menu and good wine list. Very friendly atmosphere and food was well up to expectation.
We were seated in the back room which had a crappy vibe. Front rig the restaurant was much nicer. Not as charming however as the old location. Waitress didn’t pay much attention to us and argued with us when we said we were missing an item saying “the computer said you received it”. Won’t go back. Too bad , had so looked forward to this dinner.
Not great experience. Food mediocre, service slow
Stoneacre does not disappoint. I brought a NYC business friend who is a virtual "somm" and she thought the wine list was wonderful. We shared a delicious 2015 Domaine Gour de Chaule and split 2 apps and one entree. It was a great dinner and the service matched. Do go soon.
Wonderful restaurant with a great selection of menu items. The share at the table items were great, along with the appetizers. Service was excellent. My only critique is the noise level. High ceilings, open space, will always be a little loud. But there were at least two parties of 6 though that seemed only to be able to communicate through shouting across the table. Perhaps an over jubilent wedding party or group of friends who had a few too many coctails, but if you are planning to go with older people (mid 70s) that have difficulty hearing anyway, think again.
Nice variety, lovely atmosphere, attentive staff - would recommend
We enjoyed a delightful meal, the homemade ricotta cavatelli was deliciously light, my husband's swordfish cooked perfectly. Waitstaff was super, love the ambiance, totally a local place!
We come to Stoneacre every time we are in Newport. The steak tartare is the best I've ever had!
Great cocktails -- interesting but limited wine menu -- food was beautifully presented, inventive, and great quality. Would go again.
Very noisy but otherwise a nice atmosphere.
We always love out meal here! Quite a nice wine menu, good cocktails, and the best French cuisine in town, by far. The chef serves small bites in between courses; they are delightful! Very good service, too. Tables can be a little closer to one another, but the staff handles it well.
Staff is very attentive. My wife ordered the prime rib special and it was served cold. They explained that they do not heat it and just add the warm sauce. It should start at room temperature but must of come directly from the refrigerator. No attempt to rectify, just the explanation.
Lots of hard surfaces so the din is very high.
Bread was also cold and pre drenched in olive oil - strange
