Spectacular Waterfront Dining on Lake Hopatcong in NJ serving the finest new-age American cuisine & seasonal cocktails with a substantial list of draft & bottled beer and fine wines.
Food was great. Outside seating a plus. Definitely make reservations , you wait even if you have them on weekends
Very crowded, but it was a Saturday night so that was to be expected. Overall, food and service was very good. A little loud at times.
Brought hubby for first time this past Saturday. Had a 7:30 reservation. Arrived at 7:30. Was told by the hostess it would be a 30 minute wait. Because they didn’t have enough menus. Both young women at the front were clearly stressed. But, their attitudes towards the customers was a bit rude. Don’t take it out on the customers. Ever. Older woman at front was pleasant and understood my disappointment in the attitude of the younger women. I asked to be seated so we could at least order a drink. We were seated about 10 minutes later. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. We ordered drinks and soon after our server brought menus. Small menu. I ordered the special summer salad, hubby had the winter salad. I had the stone water burger, medium rare. Fries well done. Hubby had the bolognaise. My burger was tiny compared to the bun. Resembled a hockey puck. Well done outside, raw inside. Fries were dark, but limp and soggy. Hubby liked his meal, except it was too salty. We brought both home, reheated and recooked was much better. I realize it was one of the first nice Saturday’s and Stonewater Tavern is lakeside. But they seemed to be struggling to handle a busy night. We know not to even try to go during the summer. Was told even with reservations weekends get to a 3 hour wait. I’ll stick to off season. Wanted hubby to try it. Now he did. Weekday lunch off season is the best chance for a good meal.
Stone Water provided an excellent experience. We arrived a little before our reservation and we were seated almost immediately. The valet system is well thought out, the food is amazing, the service is top notch (Thank you Angelo! You were wonderful!) and the experience is bar none.
Definitely recommend the Stone Water. The food is refreshingly inventive and perfectly cooked. Love the option of the chef's choice menu. The food came to us hot and it was obvious it was not sitting around waiting to be served. The staff was terrific, very attentive. If I could make one suggestion it would be to have a few less visits to our table asking how everything was - I am appreciative but I think someone came by every 10-15 minutes to check on us. I think our waitress should have explained the specials to us without my asking. It was a bit noisy inside with the bar, but that is to be expected; we went on a beautiful evening and sat outside, which would always be my choice.
Beautiful setting right on the lake. Service was a bit slow and lackluster. Waiter seemed a bit out of it. Food was particularly underwhelming especially given the high prices. Lobster roll was very very disappointing.
Beautiful setting, food was good, service was slow. Waited over an hour for our food after lunch rush. (2 salads, 2 sandwiches). Asked twice for a Manager, came after our food was served late to refill 1 coffee.
We had made the reservation for 7 pm for 4 people. We arrived at 7.... hostesses kept telling us that our table was not ready yet.
A party of 4 that arrived after us sat before us...
We finally were sat at our table after 8 pm.... needless to say we were starving, Kitchen was also backed up.
Waiting service was very good and food was also good.
Gorgeous view...food was enjoyable and nice presentation...service was pleasant but SLOW...when they are crowded the noise level is terrible...
wonderful anniversary dinner. Charcuterie plate was excellent.
I go quite often with my boyfriend. we have a reservation for 730 pm and didn't get seated until 8:15 pm.
Also, there was one server and it took a long time to get a drink and a very long time to get our food. I asked for another glass of wine and our server forgot....
so i have to say i was a little disappointed this time
Very good. Excellent service. Will be back!
We were pleasantly surprised with the ceativity and high quality of the dishes we ordered. Don't be fooled thinking that this is just another summer hangout on NJs Lake Hopatcong. This is an accessible, gourmet restaurant. Worth a visit all year round.
Great atmoshpere, Great Service, Great Food. We love this place!
The Sea Bass special was tough and overcooked. Overall the entire dish was bland.
We were very pleased. Food and service was great. Nice views of the water. We were in a side room and the tables were not that close together so noise level was low. Also had a great Bloody Mary.
Once we stepped into the main dining room, just past the impressive bar, we knew we were in for something special. From the great wait staff to a pitcher of sangria, past the delicious salad into our main course, (coffee rubbed ribs and rigatoni Bolognese) we were hooked. The best ribs my wife has ever eaten and the rigatoni with its super rich sauce (gravy) for me was something my grandmother would approved of. Great job guys...we will be back! Can't wait for the warmer weather to come to dine out on the deck.
Went for a quick celebratory dinner after our son got placed into his medical residency. The service was very good and the food excellent. They had entertainment and we had a great time after a couple of stressful days. We'll be back when the weather changes when the patio opens.
Our food was delicious and our service was exceptional!
Great experience. Service was awesome and food was excellent.
My only complaint is that the manager could not figure out how to apply the Open Table dining card to my check.
Your new process of awarding dining points via email and then requiring that a reservation be tied to those points appears problematic, as the card kept coming up blank without a dollar amount on it. So, I essentially lost my reward.
It was my mom’s 88th birthday and the waiter, Anthony took great. 3 people had the snapper special, and 1 had scallops. All were very happy with the simplicity of their dishes(but great taste with careful seasoning). I had the crab cake off the appy menus with a wedge salad. My only complaint was that the wedge was chopped up and the ratio of blue cheese was off.
Went to an early dinner with friends on a Sunday afternoon. There is usually a weekly brunch buffet, but also a limited alternate menu. The steak sandwich was overcooked and dry, definitely not worth the cost. The piano bar also made it very difficult to carry on a conversation.
Great dinner to celebrate Valentine's Day. Although my girlfriend and I didn't actually go on Valentine's Day, we went on the weekend a few days later. Reservations were for Saturday night at 7:30pm. We arrived a few minutes early and we were seated right away.
The dinner itself was great. We ordered the lobster rolls as an appetizer. They were eaten so fast that I didn't even get a chance to take a picture of them; we even ordered a second round, that's how good they were! As for the entrees, I ordered the hanger steak, while she had the scallops. Both dishes were extrmely tasty and cooked perfectly.
The only negative I can say, and it wasn't even a big deal, was that we wanted the surf and turf special but they were all out. Hopefully when we visit next time, they will still have it. Overall, it was a great experience and we fully intend to come back.
We go here all the time but . I was very disappointed in our portion size last week and they gave us the wrong wine but did not apologize just blamed the bar and never brought my husband a new glass
Food was delicious. Not the place to go if you're in a rush.
Very disappointing we got there 5:30 and nobody approached our table until 5:45 Ordered maple glazed bacon for an appetizer came out fatty and Soggy (I could have done better with Oscar Mayer bacon and Log Cabin syrup) the coffee rubbed pork ribs had the membrane still underneath the ribs it was disgusting. My wife ordered the lobster salad it was tough. A year ago this place had great food and a view now all it has is a view.
My wife and I went there for dinner. Wonderful time, amazing food and service. The only downside to it, was these 2 idiots at the bar who made it a point to be screaming at each other instead of talking to each other like normal human beings. I’m sorry I’m sure anyone who’s on a date or a get together with someone else or a group of people would rather listen to each other than listen to a bunch of drunk idiots who make it a point for everyone to listen to their conversation. Anyway, aside from that everything was amazing. Def recommend it
Great atmosphere & food. Staff was pleasant & each dish had a good presentation
Most everything about this restaurant was great. My salad was perfect, just the right dressing and very fresh lettuces. Was a little disappointed in my burger, there were parts of it that were burned. Not a fan of burnt. Bun was great, as was all the condiments on the burger. My husbands burger was not burned and he loved his burger and salad. Dessert was delicious and just the right amount of sweet.
Since this is one of the few nice restaurants in Lake Hopatcong, I decided to make a reservation & I'm glad I did. There must have been a mix-up, because I overheard the greeters mentioning giving away our table, even though we were on-time for our 7pm dinner reservation. We were asked if we wanted a hi-top table & I'd rather sit at a normal table, rather than brave the bar area.
The aesthetics are incredible...especially if you ever visited Smitty's when it was in that same location. I'm sure this place is slammed in the summer, when dinner comes with a view.
The service was fantastic...but the noise was unreal. My wife was sitting next to me, rather than across from me & I still couldn't hear her. It wasn't just the bar area, but just sitting in the dining area, all conversations resonate throughout the room & add to that the music that they're piping in.
Overall, I thought the food left something to be desired. I ordered a Filet Mignon, cooked Medium & it was a little bit under-cooked. They slice the meat in half prior to delivery & one look could tell you that it wasn't cooked properly. My wife likes the steaks still moo-ing, so I gave that part to her. No seasoning on the meat & the onion strings that accompany that offering were taking over the plate. Garlic mashed potatoes came with the meal...yet I tasted no garlic in those potatoes. My wife had a roasted chicken plate with mushroom risotto & she said it was decent (I tried a bit of the chicken & it was a bit dry).
The dessert is what made this meal. The Creme Brulee was outstanding. It's very easy to mess this up, but they hit it out of the park. My wife had a hazelnut cheesecake served in a Mason jar & it too was outstanding.
Overall, it was good...too bad I was expecting more.
Was seated in side room next to a large party. Our waitress was taking care of the large party. She was not able to be as attentive to us as we would have expected. Needed help or another server.
The atmosphere is great, beautiful location, nice bar and wonderful service. I would rave about this place but the food is always SO SALTY!! I’ve been three times, ordered different items each visit and still feel the need to drink a gallon of water when I get home.
Very good food in good portions. Beautiful lodge-like building and dining room. A little loud. We'd go back again!
Once a month date night with my husband.
Excellent food and service for my son's 40th birthday celebration. Will be back for brunch!!!!
We are a group of foodies..who know what they love and are willing to venture to new places to find new loves in our foodie outings. This place was such a jem and sweet find ..we will definitely be back to try other options or even the same for we were pleased with every bite/morsel of our food.
Stick to the meat. Fish is not their specialty. Also grossly overpriced for the quality of food.
