Food was good and the service pleasant. Very limited menu. Probably COVID related. Bar area very fun. We had a fun night and were pleasantly surprised. They did run out of Crown which I was drinking. Many places tightening inventory though.

I chose Stone Turtle for their efforts to aid in preventing the spread of Covid -19 in the STL area. I actually live in a rural 2+ hours from the city , where I do not dine in , due to lack of my community in general to adhere to any safety guidelines that could potentially lessen the spread of disease . The other deciding factor was that the menu was simple and appealing. I have to say that my trip to the city that day , including this restaurant chose , was great !
The best surprise was the calamari !! An innovative and delightful take on what can be a fairly predictable appetizer choice . Our waiter suggested the salmon and it was an overall very good meal . I will come back when I get the chance and I WILL be ordering the calamari again 😁😁

First the chicken soup was brought out lukewarm at best, well out of safe temperature range. We waited for the waitress to return to take our orders and tell her about the soup (we were the only dining room customers) for an excessive amount of time. When she didn't return, I searched for her. Still couldn't find her. Should have left at this point, but when she arrived she at least took the danger soup off the bill and offered another cup.
Eventually we both ordered lamb ribs, which were mostly fat (yes, lamb is fattier but there is usually some meat). The glaze was good.
The dish came with a Napa cabbage slaw. I thought there were tomatoes on top or bell peppers covering the top. I forked through 3 of them to get some cole slaw and soon discovered they were hot peppers! There was no mention of this - not on the menu or by the waitress. I had heartburn for days. Otherwise the slaw lacked flavor and imagination.
The good things: the drinks, the fries and the atmosphere.

We decided to try the Stone Turtle last weekend. On our way there we realized that we forgot our masks. So we called the restaurant to let them know that we were running about 7 minutes late for our 12:30 reservation. There was only one table seated when we arrived and they were finishing up. Very clean and opened space. Has charm. Our server was kind and energetic. However, after getting seated it took far too long for anyone to approach the table again. Our food was all brought out at the same time instead of apps first. The table was so overcrowded. The food orders were wrong and it did not seem to bother our server one bit. So, pretty tasty food, the presentation on each plate was lovely, but the service was bad. We will likely not return.

Came here after spending some time at the zoo and it was nearby. The neighborhood isn't anything special and we were initially a bit apprehensive, but we loved our experience and the food. Great cocktails, appetizers, and entrees. The server was lovely, very attentive, and accommodating. Would come back without question.

Service was decent. Now, the food was a different story! First the appetizers took over an hour-90 minutes to come to our table. Second, the entrees didn’t have any flavor OR seasoning added. My friend complained of a upset stomach after eating the mango habanero chicken wings. My steak was too pink in the middle for me to eat when I asked for it to be medium well-well done. The only thing that was decent was the french fries AND Mac n cheese. Even that appetizer required some sort of seasoning and hot sauce. I’m sad because I was looking forward to this place being delicious. However, that was NOT the case. In sum, I don’t think I will EVER come back to this restaurant again because I am so disappointed.

Better places to go for dinner. Food was okay, too much fried food on menu given the limited options. I wish there was more fresh/ grilled options. Cocktails were the highlight, the food was very average.

Friendly, competent staff. Questions were answered in such a way that it was clear the server knew their menu items from heart.

Tables were spaced appropriately for Covid 19 guidelines and all staff members wore a mask.

All food items were prepared as requested and everything was delicious.

A fun twist was the "stone" turtles frozen into the ice cubes of the Smoked Old Fashioned, which we got to keep.

This little gem of a restaurant deserves more recognition.

We spent over $300+ for our table and my Pork Chop was raw inside and I had to send it back, they returned the same pork chop and it was then too tough to cut. I had about 4 bites out of the chop. It was mostly fat or bone. Not worth the money. The Polenta and brussel sprouts were fantastic however. The crab rolls for an app (we ordered two) were so spicy you couldn't really taste them. We LOVE spicy, but these were a bit too much. We all agreed. (there were 4 of us that dine regularly together often). The pork belly was good, but very very small amount for the price. The burger my husband got was almost bloody inside. he ate around the edges. He was pretty grossed out, but after I had to send mine back, he felt bad doing the same. The fries were soggy and cold as well. Another dish came out undercooked and very very fatty as well, which was the brisket sandwich. It was horrible. We all tried a little. It was so chewy he didn't eat much at all. The last order was Mac N Cheese and she said it was delicious. The whisky selection was fantastic, drink prices were average to high. But we don't ever mind paying for good quality whisky. It's not easy to find. The ambiance and atmosphere was great. Our server was good, we all liked her and she checked on us often. The restaurant was also at half capacity due to COVID restrictions. I was shocked the dinners came out uncooked. Especially with the restaurant being not at max capacity. Overall, we really wanted the Stone Turtle to be a repeated visit for us. Everyone asked us how it was and we were honest, but did say it could have just been an off night and we need to try it again. Spending over $300 on 4 of us to have such terrible dinners was not what we were hoping for. but I think we are all on the fence to try it again because of the cost of loss. I hope other's had a better experience. I will read reviews and determine if we should give it another shot! Usually that answer is yes. :)
