Stone Park Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Haven't been to Stone Park Cafe in a while (since my wife gave up meat and tried to avoid their"to -die for" burgers) but we decided to use our $50 Open Table rewards there on a late Saturday night after a movie. For an appetizer, we shared a small order of the swiss chard ravioli with pine nuts in a brown butter sauce, which was amazing. It was good to know they still have the best burgers in NYC and my wife loved her salmon. At that time tables were starting to empty and the scene was mellow, but the servers were friendly, the food as good as ever, and the 1,000 points from Open Table for a late reservation was just one more bonus.
All the food was terrific. Wine was great. All reasonably priced. My only complaint is that we waited too long before our wine order was taken and then another long wait before our dinner order was taken. Servers were very pleasant and solicitous, though. Delay would not have been a big deal except that we were late to a concert after the dinner. I would definitely return. Next time I would make sure the server knows if we are on a deadline.
I had brunch here with friends and ordered Short Rib Hash with Eggs it was delicious! So was the bloody mary. The restaurant is kid friendly which is very nice for parents of young kids but there was a crying 3 year old next to us for quite a while. The service was spotty with a somewhat surly host and a very nice waitress who never came back again. I think they may share the table service. I don't think they offered my friend a coffee refill. Waited forever for our check. Bottom line is I would go back again for the food but not on a special occasion.
Stone Park has become one of our favorite go-to places when we're entertaining friends or family visiting Park Slope from out of town. There's always a nice range of fresh, creative American options on the menu and a great wine list, too. The wait staff is knowledgeable about both—and often helpful making recommendations that turn out to be just right. Things can get a bit pricey. But I always come away having had a good meal and a pleasant time, that the extra few bucks seem worth it. This place also serves a great burger and a nice brunch—so it doesn't have to be saved for a "special occasion" if you happen to be in the neighborhood.
Great experience! Food was fabulous, and service was also great. (We only had just over an hour for dinner since we had an appointment afterwards. Our waitress accommodated that perfectly and we managed to have a three course meal which somehow did not feel too rushed!) We’re looking forward to being back.
Our table was near the door. I asked if I can changed the table because air from the door was little chilly. They told me I should wait until it get warm because they just turned on the heat. They were' willing to change our table. My 6 years old daughter was wearing coat the wholetime...
Aside from ABSOLUTELY misrepresentation of a Malbec for a blended wine, and this the inability to comp. such a mistake, it was good. Lack of professionalism by the manager. Wouldn’t recommend based on this fact, I’d hate to send someone there only to have their concern blown off. Still tipped 20% as it wasn’t the waiters fault.
Wonderful in every respect — food, ambiance, service, and comfortable seating. Our eclectic order — selected from daily specials, salad nicoise, and a fantastic fresh pasta — worked extremely well together. We lingered a bit longer after a fantastic lunch — service staff more than understanding and accommodative. Would go back in a heartbeat.
This is a consistently delicious restaurant. The shaved brussel sprout salad used to be on the menu and was brought back as a special. As good as I remember--love the tang, the shaved nature of the brussels makes it a great salad, with a beautiful presentation. Scallop special also excellent--the sauce that accompanied the dish was perfect. Great date spot.
My first time at this restaurant. The server was sweet. I ordered a main course which came with 1 side. I opted for the grilled salmon special with truffle mashed potatoes. I ordered an additional side of sauteed snap peas. My dining companion had the exact same thing and felt the same way about the meal. I asked if the salmon was wild or farmed, the server said farmed. I ordered it anyway but I prefer the wild. The salmon was tasty enough but the portion was minuscule. The potatoes were fine but also, a tiny portion. The snap peas were over cooked and stringy. Basically inedible. The server asked how meal was and we told her how tiny the fish serving was. She acknowledged it and said something about the price and quality. Farmed salmon is crazy inexpensive so, yeah... OK. She was sweet but lacked knowledge. PS... We did not get any bread at our table so I basically went home hungry.
Stone Park is my go to Park Slope Restaurant. It never disappoints. Besides good food, attentive service and a fun space; it has what many other restaurants cannot seem to be able to do much of. Be consistent. I know if that if the cod is still on the menu and I order it, it will taste exactly like it did when I last ate it there. I like that as much as I like experimenting with the new things on their menu. Keep it up guys!
overall experience was excellent, great wait staff and took care of my wife and surprised her for her birthday with a glass of wine and piece of desert
Food does tend to have salt overused and need to drink a lot of water, maybe hold back a bit on the salt next time
We had dinner before attending a concert at Barclays which we mentioned upon arrival. Waitress made sure that appetizers, dinner and dessert were paced to ensure our departure in time to make the show. We had halibut and skirt steak, both of which I believe were specials and both were great. Highly recommend food and service.
Our teenage daughter had tickets to a concert at the Barclay's Center, so my husband and I decided to make a date night out of dropping her off and waiting for the show to end. We decided to try Stone Park Cafe after reading the great reviews and were not at all disappointed. Everything we tried was exceptional, from the cocktails and wine through dessert. Definitely a great option when going to Barclays, or as a destination trip for a nice meal.
