Stone Park Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Aside from ABSOLUTELY misrepresentation of a Malbec for a blended wine, and this the inability to comp. such a mistake, it was good. Lack of professionalism by the manager. Wouldn’t recommend based on this fact, I’d hate to send someone there only to have their concern blown off. Still tipped 20% as it wasn’t the waiters fault.
Wonderful in every respect — food, ambiance, service, and comfortable seating. Our eclectic order — selected from daily specials, salad nicoise, and a fantastic fresh pasta — worked extremely well together. We lingered a bit longer after a fantastic lunch — service staff more than understanding and accommodative. Would go back in a heartbeat.
This is a consistently delicious restaurant. The shaved brussel sprout salad used to be on the menu and was brought back as a special. As good as I remember--love the tang, the shaved nature of the brussels makes it a great salad, with a beautiful presentation. Scallop special also excellent--the sauce that accompanied the dish was perfect. Great date spot.
My first time at this restaurant. The server was sweet. I ordered a main course which came with 1 side. I opted for the grilled salmon special with truffle mashed potatoes. I ordered an additional side of sauteed snap peas. My dining companion had the exact same thing and felt the same way about the meal. I asked if the salmon was wild or farmed, the server said farmed. I ordered it anyway but I prefer the wild. The salmon was tasty enough but the portion was minuscule. The potatoes were fine but also, a tiny portion. The snap peas were over cooked and stringy. Basically inedible. The server asked how meal was and we told her how tiny the fish serving was. She acknowledged it and said something about the price and quality. Farmed salmon is crazy inexpensive so, yeah... OK. She was sweet but lacked knowledge. PS... We did not get any bread at our table so I basically went home hungry.
Stone Park is my go to Park Slope Restaurant. It never disappoints. Besides good food, attentive service and a fun space; it has what many other restaurants cannot seem to be able to do much of. Be consistent. I know if that if the cod is still on the menu and I order it, it will taste exactly like it did when I last ate it there. I like that as much as I like experimenting with the new things on their menu. Keep it up guys!
overall experience was excellent, great wait staff and took care of my wife and surprised her for her birthday with a glass of wine and piece of desert
Food does tend to have salt overused and need to drink a lot of water, maybe hold back a bit on the salt next time
We had dinner before attending a concert at Barclays which we mentioned upon arrival. Waitress made sure that appetizers, dinner and dessert were paced to ensure our departure in time to make the show. We had halibut and skirt steak, both of which I believe were specials and both were great. Highly recommend food and service.
Our teenage daughter had tickets to a concert at the Barclay's Center, so my husband and I decided to make a date night out of dropping her off and waiting for the show to end. We decided to try Stone Park Cafe after reading the great reviews and were not at all disappointed. Everything we tried was exceptional, from the cocktails and wine through dessert. Definitely a great option when going to Barclays, or as a destination trip for a nice meal.
One of our favorite places in the neighborhood. They have great cocktails. If I could mainline the Four Roses Manhattan, I would. Food is always excellent. I had a delicious Caesar salad with real anchovies and the duck breast for my entree. Both super tasty! We also split a pistachio frozen nougat desssrt, which was creamy and delicious. Nice, friendly service.
We had a wonderful meal at Stone Park Cafe! The watermelon feta salad, cod & clam special, mushroom raviolini, and sausage & broccoli rabe pasta were so delicious and beautifully presented. Our wait person Cait was lovely - warm, knowledgable, seemed to genuinely care about our happiness with our meal and our experience there. Highly recommended for a regular night out or a special occasion!
I took my brother here for his birthday dinner early on Sunday evening. Staff was attentive and the food was very good. The options for wine by the glass were a bit limited. The Swiss chard raviolini was absolutely delicious and I was happy to have a half-order available. My brother liked his hamburger and accompaniments. The waiters put a candle and "Happy Birthday" plaque on his ice cream, and looked like they were about to sing but didn't, which was fine with us (maybe they correctly read our body language.) I would go back. A few more vegetarian options would be nice.
The food was very tasty and the staff very pleasant. They accommodated my last-minute delay of 30 minutes due to a work conflict. However, I had made a note in the reservation that it was for my boyfriend's birthday and it was not acknowledged by the staff. I even mentioned it was his birthday to a staff member and they just said "happy birthday" to him. I thought that perhaps the restaurant did not celebrate birthdays; however, a table next to ours got cake with a candle and a birthday song, so that was not the case. I felt bad that his birthday was not similarly celebrated but at least the food was good! A bit pricey, though.
Stone park has been a favorite of mine for sometime. I first went to Saturday brunch which was awesome. I have been back several time and this visit was a birthday gift.
The overall experience this time seem less attentive and a little tired.
We had an early reservation but even so the service was spotty. Friendly but with gaps in attention such as a 10 min wait for the wine I ordered when we sat.
The scallops and bone marrow tacos were truly awesome but my such while well cooked (MR) was uninspired and I had to ask for sufficient sauce which was the best part. My other guests ordered the miso salmon which was excessively salty and drowned in dashi although that soaked up the quinoa.
2 appetizer and 3 entree plus a medium price ( a excellent Pinot noir) for $251 plus tip did not add up to great value or an memorable birthday although the evening was saved by incrediable gelato just across the street. Definitely a place to go when your in the area (or worth driving too just for the ice cream)
With so many excellent restaurant on 5th Ave Aline I doubt I will be back unless the creativity kicks up and the service becomes more focused
Great restaurant but either it was a bad night or the place is getting a little tired
Hands-down, one of our all-time favorite restaurants. We have never I mean NEVER been disappointed with the menu, cocktails, service, wine list, or ambiance. The entire staff is knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, and professional. We've celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine's day, and just any day ending in d-a-y at Stone Park and each time they make it a special experience. Really can't
Heap enough praise. Except to say that we imagine this is what fine dining will be like in heaven...
I've been to Stone Park Cafe in the evening and sometimes felt that it was too warm and too loud (I always try to eat outside to escape both). This was my first time there at a weekday lunch--it was a business meeting--and I loved it. It was not busy at all, the noise level was great for conversation, and it felt cool and luxurious. I had the Cobb salad and a coconut sorbet--I wish I could eat there every day.
I come here fairly regularly, not that the staff bothers to notice. This time, after we were seated there was a 20 minute wait while no one asked if we'd even like a drink. Finally I flagged down a passing staff member and ordered drinks. He made no apology for our waiter. Our meal was eventually overseen by two different women, getting divided attention. Food was great, but service? Come on, Stone Park! For my $200 and 25% tip, I'd like to be treated better!
