The whole experience was outstanding. The owner introduced himself and was so nice and entertaining! The food was incredible! Service from the servers was just delightful. I have nothing bad to say about this restaurant at all! Don’t hesitate to visit!
I will definitely be going back. Everyone was so nice and the food was delicious.
The food was absolutely delicious. The service was great and fast. I will definitely go back here!
We had excellent service from the entire staff especially our waitress Annie. Stoke changes the menu seasonally and we love the new items this season. We had the bruschetta appetizer)shareable for 2, really good especially if you like Frisée salad). We had the special flounder with risotto and the grilled shrimp appetizer as our main course, then finished with the butterscotch pot of creme and coffee. All was excellent...love their coffee!
Birthday lunch for coworker
Little pricy for what you get but the food was fabulous!
Wonderful for a drink and great tastes..can order from the restaurant or small plates bar items..Great for brunch or before a show. Make reservations for sure.
Hush puppies were on the border of being burnt.
There was a big event downtown so understandably, the noise from the bar was pretty loud.
The food was amazing. One of our favorite dishes was the spaghetti squash with ricotta side dish.
A little disappointed that the wine list was pretty pricey with most bottles $50and up. Overall I would highly recommend the restaurant and I plan to return.
Stoke is by far one of the most underrated restaurants for brunch in Charlotte. For the most part, everything was great and our waitress was phenomenal.
I would most DEFINITELY recommend the chicken biscuit. Their pimento cheese is beyond scrumptious. The rice krispy french toast is so unique and unlike anything you've had before, and the garbage fries were definitely a favorite for an appetizer.
The only thing I would not recommend is their avocado toast, I've had it twice before and it definitely lacks seasoning and lemons. I hope that they revamp it because I feel like it would be great.
Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this place for brunch. My friends and I truly enjoyed ourselves and the food!
Local food was well prepared, nicely presented and very tasty
Our food was cold, the restaurant was not busy and we were seated very close to the service station. Will not be going back
We live in Plaza Midwood and eat out frequently. We’re a big fan of restaurants in NoDa, Plaza, and South End. We have had Stoke on our list for awhile now, but figured this one was for a special meal when we could get a sitter.
First off, the service was excellent. I loved our server. But the food... lacked. We went for a late brunch. The menu looked amazing. We started with the garbage fries. They were wet and limp under all the pimento cheese. Not fried at all. The flavors were there, just not the execution. Then my husband ordered the lamb tacos and I got the broccoli and kale salad. His tacos were only meat with 2 thin slices of radish. Not balanced at all. The flavor was there, but again, not what you would expect to be served. My salad lacked vinaigrette and had flavors all over the place. I love a good salad with nuts and dried berries, but this is nothing like that flavor profile. The pieces of broccoli were too big as well.
We had 4 cocktails. The cocktails were excellent.
Altogether the bill was about $81, $100 with the tip. Again, the service was excellent. But we will not be returning or recommending.
We visited Stoke on a Friday evening. The service was phenomenal. The wait staff was friendly and answered any questions we had. I had the pork shank, which was amazing. Not everyone in our party found their food amazing but better than good. The atmosphere was upscale but with a relaxed casual feel. I will definitely return.
Such a great place and always reliable. I have had more great meals and experiences here than any other place in Charlotte when there on business. Appetizers were terrific and everyone enjoyed their entrees. And the setting is hard to describe but feels intimate yet communal with almost different atmospheres on each level or area but all have the same welcoming feel. It is on my list for the next visit!
Food was not worth the value, over cooked rice on my seafood dish and my chicken dish had to much fat in it.. the season and flavor was all in the fat and not on the meat .. the server was amazing and very knowledgeable so it made me over look the taste of the food .
Their appetizers are far better than limited their limited entre items.
We were extremely pleased with our dinner. The donut holes were incredible. We will be singing your praises to all of our friends and family and we certainly will be back.
We had high expectations for Stoke after finding it featured online, so we made plans to go for our third anniversary. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. Our server was nice enough, and the bacon appetizer we ordered was excellent and came out in a reasonable amount of time. From there it went downhill - our entrees took at least 45 minutes to come out after we were finished with the appetizer.
The lamb I ordered was cook well but lacked flavor, and the sauce was far, far too sweet - there was no balance to the plate at all. I NEVER send food back, but I ended up just asking for the Stoke Burger like my wife ordered. She also had to send food back - in this case, the french fries as they were extremely salty (and we both like salt). The burgers were good - not great, but good.
I was curious to try the dessert, which was a mistake. After waiting for another 30+ minutes, we finally got our beignets - they were good, but certainly not worth waiting so long for after already waiting forever for entrees.
To her credit, our server did try to help - she comped the dessert and brought us two glasses of champagne, which we appreciated. After asking, she did also confide that they had several new people in the kitchen and thought Monday would be a good day to train them since it was slow. I certainly can understand that new people can sometimes be slow, but Stoke has an open kitchen and I saw no more than four different people working in it, all of them moved extremely slow with no sense of urgency whatsoever.
Overall we were just not impressed and will not be coming back.
Farewell dinner. Food was excellent! The only reason it did not get five stars across-the-board, was that when we sat down we were told that they would write good luck and farewell on a desert and when it arrived it was not written.
If you don't mind some noise Stoke might please you. Their Queen's Feast menu offered a very good sampling of the kind of food they create. The seafood tasted fresh and other components were well prepared and well seasoned. The only disappoint for our table of 4 were some undercooked donut holes. We were brought a second batch that were better. Our server, Kayla, was friendly and went out of her way to make sure we were happy. It was a fun night out.
During Queens Feast. Portions were smaller on the special menu ( we were told this before hand). Felt a little rushed by the waitress, but the food was very good and a good value during the Feast. Good signature drinks, but was “out of rosemary” so this made some drinks unavailable. Nice decor and open kitchen. Booth seating is a little worn, so you sink down too far. Restaurant called the day of to advise of road closures in the area ( very nice touch). I would definitely return for the regular menu.
Tried Stoke for restaurant week. The food was okay, probably wouldn’t go back.
The Pretzel Brioche and Deviled Eggs were outstanding! Highly recommend the Beef Short Rib. Complimentary Valet Parking. Relaxed environment.
Service was nonexistent and appears unorganized and uninterested...
This was our first dinner at Stoke. We were seated immediately, reception was very nice, Restaurant Week menu items delicious and we loved the overall ambiance, especially kitchen centered in the dining area. Unfortunately our table was next to a service hallway with a draft and everyone at our table was freezing. We asked for another table unfortunately there were none available. Still one of the best meals we've enjoyed in a long time and they have an excellent wine list as well.
Our appetizer and dessert were delicious. However, the main entree we ordered trout and it was horrible. They serve it with the skin, barely looks cooked and tasted horrible.
Queens Feast, first time here but won’t be the last. Great food and service. Portions seemed a little small
Hats off to Chef Tim, the menu is filled with locally sourced produce and meats prepared with care. Our entire party of 12 was satisfied beyond expectations by quality of great food, good service and general ambience. Get Stoked !!!
Service was awesome. Food was incredible. I love it and will definitely be back
Went during restaurant week. The deviled eggs were good, the charcuterie board was nothing special. The short rib was perfectly cooked but not very flavorful and the trout had too much lemon on it. The donut holes were average, but the chocolate bread pudding was great. The restaurant is loud as it's open to the hotel's lobby which also made it quite cold on this winter evening. Good service and friendly staff.
Wonderful food... very expensive cocktails!
Food was great, only issue was that it was cold outside and every time the door open, the entire restaurant got a blast of cold air through it. Would definitely go again, despite this, though.
Wait time was ridiculous. The kitchen space and staff is too small to handle an influx of customers and should not participate in events such as restaurant week where an influx of diners tends to happen.
The food was truly excellent and so was our server. It was our first time dining there and she helped us with some recommendations that were all spot on - both for cocktails and food. We did the 3 course option which was a good value and gave us the chance to try small versions of an appetizer, entree and dessert. The pretzel brioche appetizer and donut hole dessert are musts. The atmosphere was great and it was just a really enjoyable experience overall.
Because this restaurant is attached to a hotel, we experienced some smoke from others who were in and out of the hotel. I am super sensitive to cigarette smoke so this was bothersome to me. The noise level was a bit high for this same reason. The food was good, but not excellent in my opinion. Not sure we would chose this restaurant over another the next time.
Everything was great! Service was good, food was good, the place was clean and inviting! Definitely will be going again!
The food and atmosphere was incredible! Prompt service and excellent menu. The doughnut holes were amazing
Nest value and taste in Charlotte and as far as hotel resto is concerned, the best ever. There are many good resto in downtown Charlotte but Stoke with a simple menu offers incredible flavor and tremendous value. And service is always Sunnyside up.
Awesome! Food and service were great. Chef Groody’s food was excellent.
