About Stockyard Classic American Tavern
The Stockyard is a classic American Tavern that has served delicious steaks, seafood, and drinks to the Greater Boston Area for over 40 years. We take great pride in the quality of our food with beef that is aged four to six weeks to develop exquisite flavor and tenderness. We are a scratch kitchen - all food being prepared with the freshest and best locally-sourced ingredients.
Stockyard Classic American Tavern features the infamous Al Capone bar, and the largest U-shaped bar in the city.
Open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, we provide both public and private dining along with a 150-car parking lot.

Large spacious environment, set up to handle many people. Prime Rib was perfect! Wait staff very attentive. Easy to substitute from the menu. Our reservation was for Saturday night - we came from out of town to visit, weather wasn't the best ( snowing), but we arrived a little early and were seated and served immediately. Location was close to where we were staying and we just wanted good beef. Will most likely go again!
Great food, good value, and fun atmosphere. Convenient to WGBH events! Service was just so-so, however - a tad grumpy with gluten-free roll request and had to find my own ketchup at the waitstaff station. Website claims GF menu and options but that wasn't the reality. Overall, nice neighborhood place - especially convenient for events.
Thank you to everyone at the Stockyard Restaurant for making Thanksgiving Day very special for my 88 year old aunt and myself. The traditional turkey dinner was fabulous. It was just as good as if we were having this meal at home. The portions were extremely generous. My special thank you for our waiter/server. He was extremely polite, resourceful and accommodating.
Again, my thank you to everyone associated with our dinner plans. And I almost forgot. A special and endearing thank you to the gentleman employee that found my aunt and I in the parking lot ready to leave. He passed me an ATM envelope that belonged to my aunt. She must have let it slip on the floor instead of in her pocketbook. I can't thank you enough for your thoughtfulness and for your honesty.

We have been dining at this restaurant for over 15 years.. lately we thought the quality had improved but soon realized that quality is inconsistent.. meat quality and cut are inconsistent as well as cooking which can seem haphazard is whether they.. wine list is limited in choice and quality as well..
Ok to try .. but at your own risk
Disappointing in both quality of the meats and the friendliness of the hosts. What was planned as a special dinner with our college student was soon a desire to finish up and hope for better results the following evening. Dry steaks, over cooked ribs and underdone baked potato were just one disappointment after another.
Overall, we had a very nice experience at the Stockyard and would recommend it. The atmosphere was very nice. My two companions enjoyed their steaks, and the creamed spinach with bacon was delicious. My baby back ribs were very tender, but the barbecue sauce was just sweet and could have used a little tang. Our waiter was generally excellent, but the appetizers (oysters) were served immediately after ordering, and the main courses were served immediately after the appetizers were removed. This timing issue made for a more rushed dining experience than I would have liked for a better steakhouse. As a result, I deducted stars for service and the overall rating. It was our first time visiting the restaurant, so I don't know if this is a typical experience. I would give them another try when I am in the Brighton area.
My girlfriend and I split chicken tenders and calamari. They’d both come out cold and really dry. The waiter took the calamari off the bill which is a nice gesture. That night we both did not feel well. Calamari as most know is very tough to cook they were over cooked and rubbery..oh well we still had a decent time but would not order either again.
Everything seems overpriced by at least $5 - drinks and food. I could have easily made my dish of salmon - there was nothing special about it or the risotto and the asparagus was the best tasting thing on the plate; I have also had better sangria. Disappointment for me.
The service was good- I made many requests about the table to accommodate my group, but ended up in a drafty area which made the evening cold.
Have been here 2 times in last 3 months. This meal was MOST disappointing. Three in party thought Steaks were not good. Never thought you could ruin strip steaks. ☹️Restaurant was so busy the servers had trouble finding clean steak knives for the entire group. Side vegetables were over cooked. May never return.
Food was poorly presented, cold, damp, and inedible. I ordered a drink that I actually sent back. Have never in my life sent away an order of anything - a sangria served in a bizarre brandy snifter and tasted like grape kool-ade. Servers were friendly but could not make up for what was coming out of the kitchen. Ladies' room was messy and needed attention. Stay away.
Good friendly service. Prices are on the high side with your side dishes al a carte. Seating is situated around a large circular bar area with noise level moderate, which presents an upbeat atmosphere. Interior was dimly lit giving a cozy feel. I had the 20 oz. bone-in ribeye. I would rate it good, but not the most flavorful I've eaten. I ordered my steak with carmelized onions, which was more like a covering of salty French onion soup vs. the typical sauteed onion I was expecting. I would have most likely skipped this topping if I knew what I was going to get.
I have been several times because the food is excellent. Whether you go on a Monday or Friday, it's always busy. The staff work at their best at all times to provide an excellent genuine and care of service. They will accommodate you even into the late hours up to 10.30pm. They make an effort to accommodate the customer with fabulous food and great service.
