Stockyard Classic American Tavern
Stockyard Classic American Tavern features the infamous Al Capone bar, and the largest U-shaped bar in the city.
Open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, we provide both public and private dining along with a 150-car parking lot.
Food was excellent. Varied menu. Service was excellent.
Stockyard is THE BEST
Over the years prices and noise have gone up and quality and portions have gotten smaller.
How do I UNSUBSCRIBE from open table???? I'm getting inundated with ads.
Great time after my daughter’s graduation.
2 adults and 1 small child for a special occasion. Food terrific, service not very good. A Friendly and polite reception by staff when checking in, Seated quickly, that's where good service ended. Our waitress was less than attentive to our table, maybe because we had a small child, I have no real idea why. I won't bore you with a detailed list of the poor service, but will touch on a few. 1) We like to start with water and lemons. 4 waters, 1 lemon, please keep in mind there are 3 of us. Had to ask 2 additional times for more lemons. 2)Ordered as a side, lobster mac n cheese. When Food order finally came, the waitress asked how everything was almost seconds after the food arrived, then instead of just apologizing for not putting in our entire order, tried playing it off on us to ask "so where did we leave off with the lobster mac, did you want that".. come on, really! 3)Fast forward to repeatedly having to stop her to ask for drinks or additional water. 4) desert, it wasn't until she came over with the bill to realize that desert had never arrived. We did eventually get it, but over 2 hours at this restaurant seems a bit excessive, particularly when people who sat after you had already gone on with there day.
Now for the food, when it came, was delicious. Appetizers; Shrimp cocktail was very large and fresh tasting. Presentation of sauce and horseradish in individual ice holders was a nice touch. Seared scallops were large and very tasty. Main; kids meal very nice portion of fries and chicken fingers. I'm told salmon was very good, my haddock with crab crust topping was cooked very well, baked potato was enormous. Dessert, when it came, was ice cream all around, a Sunday for myself. Tasted like premium ice cream,a claim of Belgium chocolate sauce was suspect as to its authenticity. Meaning I've never seen a fresh hot sauce crust over the ice cream. It's supposed to stay liquidy.
Food is always excellent, service was terrific. A little loud but fun atmosphere.
We had a fantastic evening at Stockyard and will definitely be back. The food was excellent, especially the steak and the service was exceptional.
This place never disappoints.
The meal was delicious. The service was great. It is always a very pleasant experience to dine at the Stockyard
Food was excellent, Waitress went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful experience
Food is consistently good as is the service. Will always go back. Thank you Stockyard!
We've dined there several times over the past few years and it's been okay. The last several months we've been there have been OUTSTANDING!!
The drinks, food and service have been wonderful.
We traveled from Billerica to have dinner here and the food was amazing. I will definitely be coming back.
The food was excellent. This was our first time there and we chose this restaurant more than two months ago, it was a birthday get away for my wife’s 50th birthday and we had seen an afternoon Red Sox game. The food was excellent, however the service was not. We almost felt as though we were being reprimanded for ordering too much food, and when I wanted to order an extra side dish, specifically cream spinach, our server told us that we probably had ordered enough food already. I had never been, shut off, The food was excellent. This was our first time there and we chose this restaurant more than two months ago, it was a birthday getaway for my wife’s 50th birthday and we had seen an afternoon Red Sox game. The food was excellent, however the service was not. We almost felt as though we were being reprimanded for ordering too much food, we had ordered 2 apps and a cup of chowder and a small salad, and when I wanted to order an extra side dish, specifically creamed spinach, with my entree which is family style, our server told us that we probably had ordered enough food already. I had never been “shut off” from food. I was quite disappointed that my $36 steak came with nothing and I love vegetables. To be told not to order something was very unusual. However she then had no problem letting us order two desserts to go. That was disappointing to say the least because we don’t get out much especially out of town like this as we are from Connecticut and we were looking forward to eating a large healthy meal. We hadn’t eaten much all day. Food excellent, service, not so much !
Great food. The service was great. Had reservations. We got there early and we were seated right away. Would definitely come back.
It serves incredible food
One of the best if not the best steaks in the city let alone in the state
Our reservation was for Easter Sunday, but there was no delay getting seated. We had calamari for an appetizer, and prime rib, filet mignon, ribs and salmon for our entrees. Only flaw was the filet was ordered rare but arrived medium. It was still delicious and since my son was also eating half my prime rib he was still very happy with his meal. Our server was excellent!
it was very good the food was great even the haddock which is rare for a steak house..the owner where very freindly as well as the staff..the space was great and they even have two rooms for private parties
the decore fits
Easter dinner was great
One of our favorite places! Enzo our waiter was excellent, very friendly and very attentive.
The food and service were terrific but it was very noisy.
The Stockyard is consistently good. From the time they great you, to the time you leave always friendly.
Great eats, Great service.
Sunday at 1PM was a bit crowded, but the service was good overall. Still, I had to request a bread basket. And the special "caesar salad with pan seared salmon" was not up to Stockyard standards -- the salmon was bland and may have been frozen, not fresh. Key lime pie was delicious as always, though, as were the warm rolls.
Overall a good restaurant.
Yes, I would go back.
I would also recommend it, but in a normal tone.
We have been going to the Stockyard for many years and have always enjoyed it. The service and food is very good. On this visit we were seated in a different dining room. Maybe the Market Room. It was very noisy. Next time I'll request a table in the Main Dining area.
First I would like to say that the food was outstanding- really good crab cakes and the steaks were delicous. Our waitress was very sweet and took very good care of us for my son's 18th birthday. But yes there is a but....the maitre d was VERY rude and dismissive to my party. We had a reservation for 6 people at 6- he had open tables but made us wait for 30 minutes. He preceded to sit two large parties before us- who were obviously regulars and asked when they came in "do you have anything for us?" He was ready to give away our table again, but the very pleasant hostess stepped in and secured our table. It is ashame to treat people from out of town like that. The pleasantness of the waitress, hostess and the delicous food helped but the maitre d definitley left a poor taste in my mouth.
Very consistent with delivering great food and service
Started off poorly when the restaurant menu didn’t match the menu on Open Table: no Reuben sandwich. OK ... went for the Clam Chowder and a Burger. Chowder was lumpy with scarce clams and little flavor. The burger was the most ordinary I’d ever had. Over cooked and flavorless. Burgers at Five Guys are 10x better. I’ll try the place again for a steak based on their reputation but lunch was a strike out.
There was no wait and we had a good table that was convenient! Service was good and food came out fast
Love this place and has one of the best cuts of Prime Rib in Boston, top notch steak tips, great service, and great drinks. Has an old school vibe but works for any function, date night, dinner with parents etc. Have never had a bad experience. The biggest thing is no matter how busy they are, the servers always take care of you and it's never a long wait to get a table. The place is huge. Will be back soon for that Prime Rib!
We went to Stockyard with our kids and guests. We got 2 appetizers (chicken tenders w/ BBQ sauce and Calamari) and 5 different main dishes including steak, steak tips, salmon, and chicken fettuccine. Food was delicious as always, service was very good as well. I like the ambiance of the restaurant with dimmed lights and energetic crowd. Only complained we had this time was the temperature in the restaurant. First, it was very warm and then they turned on the A/C and this time it became very cold. We left without considering desert as it was very cold at the end. But I visit this restaurant all the time, and this was the first time I noticed this issue. It may be related to the table that we were sitting this time.
Good food and service. Drinks are awesome. 6PM reservation and place was jammed and short staffed but they did ok
The food was good, but we waited a long time at every stage of our dinner. A long wait after we sat, for drinks, for apps, dinner and desert. Overall it took over 2 hours to have a dinner that started at 4:45 PM on a Saturday. I am glad that they are busy, but service needs to be better. I was there for a birthday celebration for my brother with my 3 kids, having to wait that long created discomfort. When I mentioned something to the manager, he said he would try and speed up desert, at that point, sorry but the damage was done.
Always consistent. Service was attentive and accommodating. Food quality is always good and flexible. If you don't see what you want, ask and they will try to get close. Never disappointed.
Too many “booths” as opposed to tables. As older adults, booths are too restrictive. Food was excellent, choices varied sufficiently.
Great food and service.
We hadn't been to the Stockyard in quite awhile. It has an excellent location with ample parking. Parking is a premium anywhere in the city. We had 5 diners and everyone was very happy with their meal. The only draw back was a shrimp cocktail appetizer, we thought the shrimp were a little tougher/chewier than they should have been. Otherwise it was a very nice evening. The waffle desert was awesome.
Never disappoints always delicious
Wonderful afternoon !! Great food and service
The food was very good. Carrots a bit undercooked and under seasoned but my boyfriend and I shared the prime rib and the ribs and they were both delicious. Price was great for the amount of food and the waitress was pleasant. The vibe of the place was relaxed and I would go again.
