Stock & Ledger Kitchen & Spirits
We believe in the long-term benefits of good food. We invest a little more time sourcing quality ingredients that are sustainable, locally farmed and hormone and antibiotic free.
We also value the short-term result of a fabulous meal. Our chefs spent a lot of time creating a menu stacked with options so fresh and delicious, our customers have to invest a few minutes of their own to make some difficult decisions!
We know that time is money, our team is excellent at discerning when our customers want to linger with their clients until the contract is signed, or when they need efficient service so they make it to the theater on time.

Good food and service in a Loop location convenient to theaters, financial district, shopping. Off-lobby location is noisy when full of people, which it often is.
Thank you so much for your review. I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience. That is our goal for all of our guests, and I pleased to know we hit the mark! Please ask for Elisa the next time you are here and I will make sure you get a quieter table.
Everything was decent. Both chicken dishes were very dry. Buratta was good. Old fashion wasn’t made properly but wasn’t awful. Restaurant was only 40% full but somehow still very loud.
I am sorry this was your experience with us. This is not the type of service we want to provide for our guests. I will make sure that your concerns are addressed. Please ask for Elisa on your next visit, and we will make sure you are taken care of properly.
We were various family members in town for a wedding, so different ages, relations and viewpoints. (I hope we didn’t get too loud!).
But the seating was optimal for us and the food was spectacular (the burrata of the day, and the various entrees of which the scallops and risotto were standouts).
Our waiter was INFINITELY patient and kindly...I didn’t get his name, but perhaps you can trace this back. He was very pleasant even when we had to get the bill refigured for a discount from a nearby theatre.
Also, I got there first and was graciously seated at the bar by the hostess, to wait for the others.
She was sweet and accommodating.
Thanks for all your hospitality there, kids. I will definitely return in the future!

The perfect place for a quick lunch in the financial district. Obviously at this time of day it’s very busy, but the service was attentive and friendly, and food came out
The menu is varied with something for all persuasions, including some good vegetarian and vegan offerings. My friend had a daily special vegetable bowl with farro and vegetables that she said was fabulous.
The only drawback to the restaurant was the noise level. At the height of the lunch hour it was very difficult to converse. However, once the lunch crowd cleared out it was pleasant to sit and converse. Overall, a positive experience. Recommended.

Great food, great waitstaff, but kitchen was way too slow.
Great staff, food was decent. Would return to try something new.
Stopped in after the theater for dinner during the week. Nice space; not too noisy as the after work cocktail crowd was at the outside bar. Server stopped by promply and took our drink order. Had the octopus appetizer and then the pork chop and walleye for entre's. All of the food was exceptional. Would definetely go back.
Nice restaurant and good food. Ordered a salad with salmon, but the salmon was the smallest piece I have ever seen when ordering from a restaurant...and I enjoy salmon often. Would have spoken up, but I did not want to cause a distraction from the table conversation. The food tasted good, salmon was cooked perfectly, but the salad I had was not filling enough for me. Service was slower than I expected, but the service people were nice. If they were not so slow, I would have had time for dessert and coffee/drinks. Convenient location and easy to locate. I enjoyed the decor.
Prior to seeing Hamilton, this was a good drinks/dinner spot!
This was my second visit to Stock and Ledger. I enjoyed it much more the first time. The menu is unremarkable. Baked Brie appetizer was overly salty. My scallop entree served over spaghetti squash was excellent. Caesar salad and Brussels sprout side were OK, nothing special. Mac and cheese was smoky flavorful. So, overall, good, not great.
The food was not very good at all. The meat in the dish that I ordered was under seasoned and overcooked. Other than the food itself, the rest of the experience was good, but the quality of food should be the focal point of a restaurant.
If you have no other options then come here. The service is quite nice but the food is lacking anything special for the prices paid. I will be shocked if this place is still open a year from now.
A nice and predictable experience, yet nothing remarkable that justifies a higher rating.
Nice place for a pre-show quick dinner. The service was great and the food was good too. It was a little noisy in the restaurant.
Food was delicious, service was excellent. Would recommend for a business lunch or just getting together with friends.
Great place for lunch or drinks after work with colleagues.
Good solid restaurant. Great service. Good food. The menu options are somewhat limited for lunch, but the options available are good.
The chicken Kiev was a very large portion, yet could have been more flavorful. It was perfectly breaded and cooked, just bland. Walleye was very good. Burrata app was yummy. It was very quiet after the theatre crown departed. Our server was attentive and excellent
Stock & Ledger Kitchen was a great place to stop quick before a show. Our server was great and made sure we made it out in time out to catch the musical we were about to see. The food was very good - my two favorites were the burrata and the brussel sprouts. We also had the strawberry rhubarb crisp which was amazing. Would definitely recommend for a quick bite!
We were headed to a show downtown and this was a great restaurant to dine in. The server was great and they had a kid’s menu. Everyone in the group found something they enjoyed and it was great food.
Went first time for lunch with a group of 4. Delicious food, very friendly and accommodating waitress,
great atmosphere. Even got a free Birthday dessert. Will recommend to friends and family. Will definitely return!
Met out of town friends for lunch. It is a nice space but a little on the noisy side. All of the food was excellent. The chicken club was nicely balanced. Often those sandwiches are overstuffed. But this version was fresh and the bread was perfectly (not overly) toasted. I tried my friend's bacon risotto--wow. And the chopped salad was lovely. None of the dishes were huge--thank goodness. Good portions for lunch, well-made. I'll be back.
I don't usually give an "Outstanding" to any place because there is usually room for improvement. Not the case here. This is the 5th or 6th time I have come here for lunch (I lost count!) Every time it has been great. The service is outstanding. Even when there was a problem (once) it was resolved quickly and with a smile. That is exceedingly rare these days. I love the fresh taste of the food, and the staff seems genuinely happy to be there. Whatever you are paying them, it's not enough! The "library" is a wonderful place - a great idea to include books in your decor - even if some of them are for Accounting! I will continue to tell people about your food and people and continue to come back. The only complaint I have is with the noise level. It is a weird acoustic issue that I don't know can be solved, but just a side note.
I treated myself to a good lunch away from the office where I could read and enjoy a quiet meal. Stock & Ledger was the perfect choice. The service was great, and my baby kale and salmon salad was amazing.
The menu choices are all brilliant and well made. Each dish and drink my guest and I shared were surprising and delicious. The experience was quite enjoyable.
Staff was amazing! Food was great, the gouda appetizer was phenomenal. Definitely returning.
Went for lunch, food was okay. Ordered a salad, the potatoes tasted like they ere old and refrigerated and nothing was seasoned.
I went to Stock and Ledger on a recommendation from a colleague for a client lunch. I noted in the reservation that we were celebrating a special occasion. We arrived for lunch at 2 p.m., so it was a quiet time for the restaurant. They provided us with delicious food, superb service, friendly and engaging staff (including the manager), and they brought us two desserts on the house to celebrate our occasion. Such an incredibly thoughtful touch! I highly recommend this place and manager, Beth Herris.
Again the food and service was very good. And good location to go to the Goodman Theatre or other downtown event.
Our waiter Juan was attentive & charming. The food & the Italian Rose’ was delicious.
Fun, lievely and the service and food were both outstanding.
We went pre-performance and the place was hosting an ABA happy hour, so it was loud... But the wait staff could not have been more excellent, the food was good, and the interior beautiful. Will come again. The goat cheese starter alone makes me want to come back.
Good place to grab lunch quickly and a beer or two
A great place for a casual dinner or lunch in the “loop”, especially if you need to be gluten-free as we are. Not only were menu items identified as GF the wait staff knew other changes the kitchen could make. The bar was first rate as well.
Service was efficient and our food came quickly. It was lunch time.
A great place downtown with good seafood choices if you're heading to the theatre. We stuck to starters and drinks, but everything smelled really good!
Fabulous food - many gluten free options! Exceptional service! Highly recommended!
I really can’t understand why other people gave it so many stars. With all of the options in Chicago, this is really very mediocre. The waitress didn’t know the menu. We ordered the chopped salad, chicken Kiev, cheeseburger, and the bacon risotto. The salad was good, but is small for the price. The bacon risotto was ridiculously salty. If it were my dish I would’ve sent it back as inedible. But my daughter ordered it and 12 year olds have a little higher tolerance for salt so she ate maybe a third of it. The chicken Kiev did stand out and was delicious.
The good was tasty and enjoyed by all. But increasingly noise is becoming a big issue. Even though we were in a smaller dining room, it was difficult to hear people across the table. There was a door that could be closed, although it needed to be left open for the servers. Overall, the service and food were top rate, though, and we would go there again.
