Had a great first time at STK celebrating my husbands birthday!
Birthday celebration for my USD college son and Jordyn helped make the celebration fabulous! MockTails, cocktails, wine, wagyu and sea bass we’re on our table menu and everything just perfection! Jordyn’s service was off the chart: Attentive but not hovering and offered delicious dining options without overselling. She and Matthew the Dining Room Manager made this an absolutely wonderful evening out! Thank you and Bon Appetite, Salute and Cheers. 🤩🎉
We had an amazing time celebrating my son's birthday. Jordyn was a great server. She was attentive and had provided such awesome service. The food was also amazing, the Japanese Wagyu beef and Spindalis melted in your mouth. Great atmosphere. Thank you!
Super fun environment and great themed decor. Service was excellent, as was the food.
Great service & delicious food!
We have a reservation and still had to wait 30 mins. Then when I arrived to check in, I heard the hostess with short brown curly hair above her shoulders. rudely say “is _____ here yet” as I was standing right in front of her. Maybe if she looked up and paid attention she would have seen me and allowed me to check in before acting like she was waiting forever. Very rude and even when I said “I’m right here” and she didn’t apologize or greet us happily. My bf ordered steak and they forget his steak knife. I wanted to take my boyfriend to a fancy restaurant for his birthday, but it was a poor experience on all points. Will not be recommending this place.
Seated 45 minutes late even with reservations. People were rude and pushy. Staff did little to accommodate anyone. Overall vibe was annoying - meal was overpriced - we split an entree and bill was still over $200. Not impressed.
We joined STK for a birthday celebration and it was great! The food was delicious and the desert with the candle was amazing. Great place to celebrate any occasion!
Terrible seating with my back right by the door just outside. People waiting for their reservations and bumping into my chair over and over. I don't blame them at all...they were packed in like sardines in the area. 45 minutes after ordering still no food. Staff never asked if we wanted another cocktail...hell, just keep the drinks coming at least! Tasty Olde Fashioned but...basic ice cubes???? A proper restaurant ought to have proper ice for an Olde Fashioned. Overall terrible experience. Went to Barley Mash instead...phenomenal staff!
Matthew S. gave excellent 5 star service. Food was delicious. Great lively Gaslamp ambience. It's expensive, the value is good not great I think it's very difficult for an expensive restaurant to somehow be a great value at the same time. They had people lined up onto the sidewalk though so maybe the market is a little different in San Diego!
The food was good but overpriced. Appetizer had inedible croutons. Found hair in my Blue butter but didn’t bring it up to staff because by the time they came back I had already taken some of my husbands butter and they guy barely stayed long enough to hear our response. Overall it was a fine experience but don’t see myself going back since there are plenty of other steakhouses with a better value and experience.
Excellent customer service along with delicious food. Definitely worth every penny! First time here and will definitely be returning.
Great experience! I didn’t expect it to be so loud and energetic but it was fun. If you’re wanting a quiet dinner I wouldn’t suggest this but if you’re okay with energy and music then this is the spot
This place is always fun, the food is fantastic.
We arrived at happy hour.
Food was great service was great. Cocktails hit the spot.
Was a particularly remarkable value during happy hour. We let’s well feed and watered!
I am extremely disappointed in the Service my dinner party and I experienced at the F street location of STK in San Diego. The waiter (Rafael) at table 108 who was appointed to be the Garcon (waiter) was extremely rude and unprofessional. Condescending and acted as though it was a burden to do his Customer Facing JOB.
I will never go back to this location, and will tell my professional colleagues to select another option.
I was horribly disappointed. The experience was far from what I expected, it felt like a drive thru steak house. All of our food came out at once. We were rushed, and no one was at the restaurant. I will never return, I recommend a true steak house this was a disappointment.
Good vibes and great food!!!! Definitely a must try. The music. The food. The vibes!!!
Emmah was a fabulous server and made our evening really enjoyable. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The atmosphere is lively but not so much that you can’t carry on a conversation. We will highly recommend to friends.
First time dining here. Food was great, and our server Jordyn made our dinner experience even better. We will be back again
Great place to go late at night when everything else is closed
Service made the night. Was surprised that the steak was not up to par. One took a couple attempts at right temp and another was just a mediocre cut, especially for the premium price. Again, service was top notch. Desert, was also great.
Loved my experience here! Josh was such a great server!
We are a family of 8 and San Diego Restaurant Week gives us a chance to spend time with each other at a high end restaurant and try something new. Thank goodness for SDRW
San Diego fashion week!
Host staff/restaurant wasn't timely with reservations and seemed overwhelmed. Were sat 30-45 minutes after our reservation.
The food was just not very good
I would expect a restaurant that bills itself as a steak house to at least have good steaks but not so I ordered the coffee rubbed ribeye and did not even bother to finish it.
Also the reservation system is chaotic with hoardes of people waiting on the street until they finally get called in for their table
I waited so long that in the end I just sat at the bar
Server was amazing! Helpful & friendly.
Food was amazing as well.
Manager was horrible & rude.
The service was OUTSTANDING! The food was not as outstanding as the service. It was good, but not a stand out compared to other restaurants that serve steak as their primary menu item. It was our first time to try STK Steakhouse, and we are glad we did so during restaurant week as we did not pay the regular menu price - for that we are thankful. We upgraded to add lobster and a different appetizer. The most memorable items we ate were the bread and the wagyu BRGR sliders. If you don't mind paying a lot of money for the outstanding service and atmosphere in order to eat fair to good food, then this is the restaurant for you.
Not a great experience. I had higher hopes given how many friends had been here before. The ambiance seems cheaply put together and the music was much too loud and club-y for it to be a classy place worthy of the prices they charge. Almost everything was overpriced and underwhelming. Will not be returning.
We had a wonderful dinner at STK for my partner's birthday. The restaurant itself is very modern, clean and has a very hip ambiance. Everyone that we came into contact with was extremely warm and welcoming - the front desk staff, bartender, our waiter and a friendly manager who directed me to the ladies room. The food was delicious - his Ribeye steak was a perfect medium, my tagliatelle with mushrooms and truffle oil was so rich and flavorful with the perfect Al dente bite, and the tator tots were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy and soft on the inside. They surprised my partner with a full on sparkler with his birthday dessert, which made our experience that much more festive and exciting. I would definitely recommend STK for an impressive date night or special occasion, and hope to return the next time we visit San Diego!
My Birthday. Great service at the bar! Tomahawk steak was awesome!
I was excited to try this place because I had seen it in several social media pages and I thought restaurant week was the perfect opportunity. The music inside was very loud and felt like a club when we walked in. The vibe was great for partying but not my preference for eating dinner. Luckily we were seated outside. My friend and I ordered from the restaurant week menu and did pretty much every add on to the prixe fixed $50 menu making each of our meals $100 each. The tuna tartare tacos were tiny and lacked flavor. They did not even try when it came to presentation. The 3 tiny tacos looked like they were sloppily put onto a plain, white plate with no garnishes or sauces which could have made the appetizer more aesthetically pleasing at least. The Lil BRG sliders were delicious! The Caesar salad was an additional $20 and there was nothing special about it. I am so happy that I added a lobster tail because it really made the dish more delicious. I could have done without the $12 wagyu butter and $7 peppercorn crust add ons. The steak knives were not sharp at all and my hand was starting to cramp just from trying to cut my filet. The steak was cooked medium rare, but more in the rare side. The steak was luke warm. Dessert was 3 little scoops of cheesecake with different toppings. The presentation was nice for these. They were spread on a wooden board with sauces and various toppings which made them look much more appetizing. The service was not bad. We had to ask for water refills, but there was enough staff that we didn’t have to wait too long. I am not sure if they make it a point not to try when it comes to the restaurant week menu. Yes it is discounted, but that does not mean it’s an excuse to slack on presentation. I will likely not be returning.
The waitress moved so fast and took care of us with excellent service. Drinks and food came out fast. The man who kept refilling our water never let our glasses get past 1/2 a cup. We were taken care of in that aspect…but… me having the profession that I have I noticed a couple of things. No one at our table liked their steaks. They weren’t seasoned. The cuts were perfect, they were cooked to the perfect temperature but as far as flavor…grill and blood. We had a bloody salmon and also a “different” tasting sea bass. Besides the fact that the music was so loud we could barely hear each other talking and it was colder than anything in there the place was decent. Our waitress deserves a raise!
I joined to STK with a dining companion during restaurant week and got a special which included coffee rubbed 10 oz ribeye with add-on lobster tails, ahi tuna tatar tacos, and a cheesecake cone dessert. We also got a side of macaroni and cheese. The tuna taco appetizer was the best food item. It's the sort of thing that many San Diego restaurants do & was exactly what one would expect. The ribeye, despite allegedly being prime beef, was frankly chewy and unimpressive. The lobster tails were overcooked and dry. The macaroni and cheese side was good, though it was a small serving about half the size one gets at other steak houses like Flemings. As such, I would call that a poor value. The cheesecake cones dessert was not as described. It was just three little teaspoons of cheesecake filling with a topping placed on each. Decent, but nothing impressive. All told, I don't think I'll be back. Oftentimes restaurant week is a great way to find new restaurants to add to one's regular rotation. Based on this meal, STK isn't worthy. A tough steak and visibly dry & overcooked lobster. Additionally, the DJ music is quite loud, rather than vibrant. I don't mind upbeat music, but it was hard to have a conversation.
Our waiter was not very nice. We ordered food to share and he said that’s it that’s all your going to order you must not be too hungry. We ordered a 3 course menu to share but added several upgrades. At the end we were supposed to get a dessert and he just placed the bill on our table. We tried to get his attention several times he kept on ignoring us. Finally my boyfriend stood up in front of him and asked if we could have our dessert to go and he said I thought you were full, we were but we paid for it.
