STK – NYC – Rooftop Ratings and Reviews
I was a little upset it was my boyfriend birthday i made reservations for 9:30 i received a call at 9:20 telling me we can’t use the rooftop bc the heating system wasn’t working. Cool but then i ended up waiting an hour and a half to be seating. I️ was very annoyed bc again i had reservations. I was never accommodated no drinks no discount no nothing. So i probably won’t dine there again.
The restaurant was busy and we had reserved a table through opentable that wasn’t registered with the restaurant when we arrived. The greeter managed to resolve this but there was a lot of waiting whilst this happened with little explanation as to what was going on which was confusing and and impacted our experience initially a great deal. The table waiting staff were excellent, very helpful and friendly. The food was lovely, perfectly cooked and great portions.
We loved the ambiance, music and general lively nature of the place. Had our initial greeting experience been better we would have rated higher as it was quite frosty.
I had a horrible experience here! The service was sub par...we waited about 20 minutes for someone to come take our order. Not to mention our bottle of wine was placed on ice about 10 feet away from us!
For the amount of money that we paid for our meal, we expected much better quality food. The steak was AVERAGE! and tasted rather cheap. The mac and cheese was okay but the spinach was cold. The only thing that i enjoyed was the wine and the ravioli appetizer.
This is what i call "fake nice". Nice decoration, in a posh location, and jacked up prices to make you feel as if your dinning somewhere special. Leave this place for the tourists....
We went here for dinner. We were just married I made a note in the reservation. With the weather wanted something outdoors, and fun. I know STK is more about the scene than the food, but this was very disappointing. Her food was very good, but mine was extremely undercooked. When you are paying $50 for a steak you expect it to be cooked properly. They took my plate, and basically just recooked the same steak. The outside was so charred I had to cut around it. I thought maybe a free dessert or at least take a couple of bucks off of the bill for serving me a raw steak, but no nothing. There was no free glass of champagne or wine or ANY mention of just being married. Needless to say I will not be going to any STKs in the city again.
Started off with the bacon app and it was delicious. The steaks were awesome perfectly made. House Zip sauce off the chart in my opinion and I don't usually like a zip sauce. The only issue I had was maybe out table because it was close to a waiter station and I had to listen to a waiter describe his events of the last few days and parties and other people and he used colorful language. Not that I wanted to listen but he takes so loud I couldn't help but hear him and he wouldn't stop talking. Thought the water glasses could have been filled more often. Great place to sit on the roof and see the high line and river and other buildings. Host staff very friendly and helpful. I would recommmend just maybe don't get a table by the wait station.
STk was recommended to me because we traveled from Ireland,I had book the roof top for my boyfriend birthday we were created very well and made feel very welcome we were early and had to wait to be seat we are offered to stay at the bar til our table became free we also asked to be seated outside we only had to wait a few moments and we were seat at the table we ask for , the waiter was very friendly and helpful ,the food was absolutely amazing , we also heard our waiter recommended some dishes to the other couple next to us I taught it was great he knew the menu so well ,I have a lot of friends going to New York over the next few weeks this is the first place I am recommending to everyone ..thank you guys for a great experience and food
I made a reservation which really didn’t matter because they had us waiting for ever!!! The price of the food was not worth it I had a steak & it was so chewy, with 1 shrimp ($6 each) come on. Also had the truffle fries (gross). The only thing that tasted ok was the little sliders.
Where do I start.... first off I had reservation for 530 came in around 520 no one was there to greet me at the door and when someone did come you would of thought I wasn't suppose to be there.... I've been to STK many times but never to the rooftop version of it let's jus say I wasn't impressed.... The views where beautiful drinks and food was just ok.... I've had lobster Mac at many different steak houses and for the 36.00 dollars stk charged for theres I was expecting something fantastic not jus ok.... the drinks again where just ok.... my waiter was pretty cool but the young man name Emilio (I believe that was his name) service and attitude was disgusting.. As me and my date were heading up to the rooftop he stops us looks as his watch and says did somebody send you guys up there :/ as if where going to head upstairs w/o someone telling us to.... that rubbed me the wrong way... again it's jus an ok stk I've have better service at other stk's...
My Friends and I had a great time the other night. The food was good but service was not the best. We waited several times for someone to check in to see if we wanted anything. I would of had another 2 cocktails if someone check in with us.
We asked how big the sides were. The Waiter said the sides are a good size for 4 people. When the sides came they were small. I would say enough for 2 people. We would of ordered more if we know that they were small sides.
The View was Great. The Strawberry Gobblers was perfect, its my new favorite cocktail.
Even though the service was not the best, everyone was very friendly.
Give me another Strawberry Gobbler Please.
Under the circumstances I was highly irritated and a bit embarrassed STK was my choice for dinner for the guest I invited on my girls trip since I've never been there. We were visiting from Chicago so my main reason for this location was to enjoy dinner, music, as well as the rooftop. The wait and communication was absolutely ridiculous for someone that had a reservation. Although late I communicated with Emelio? We waited a little over an hour but the wait time wasn't just the issue it was the attitude we received and the miscommunication. To say all of that I would like to Thank Travis and the staff at Midtown for doing there best to ensure we enjoyed dinner after relocating to a different STK restaurant . The food was amazing.
My experience at the rooftop location was terrible. Our water cups had dried up food and we didn't even get a chance to swap them out for clean ones because after putting our orders in the waiter never checked back in until he brought the dessert menu after we asked someone else to pack our food so we can leave. Worst STK experience. I've washed my hands of STK!
Everything was great besides the hostess who sat my friend and I. She could’ve been a-little more nicer when I asked for a drink menu, “she goes you must show your ID to your server in order to get a menu” no matter where I dine, I always received a drink menu. But everything was great here.
This place is a disaster. The redesign of the roof is awful. It is mostly covered by a tacky looking sliding roof and uncomfortable cafeteria like furniture. They should have left the couches and layout that they had previously. It is now loud and not a place I would want to eat in. We had to get up and get a table downstairs despite the host pretending to check downstairs to accommodate us and told us they could not. We spoke to them downstairs on our own and luckily were taken care of and the food and service was fine. I strongly would not recommend the roof top for anything more than a loud and obnoxious happy hour. Not my scene and not a comfortable environment like it was in the past.
Went there Friday night for a biz dinner for five. Tables and chairs were miniature and one of guests was ex football player-- I felt bad that he was so cramped. Had great wine and food; our waiter was quirky and awesome. Got loud on the other side where the music originated but we could hear ourselves pretty well. Nice weather put the cherry on top.
So it was my 1 year wedding anniversary n I decided to go to one of my favorite places STK rooftop because of the food and atmosphere. I always order the same appetizer and dish. Tonight the Alaskan crab app was sooo fishy I couldn't eat it. I didn't bother to say anything to the waiter and just looked forward to my steak. My steak came n it was overcooked but again I didn't bother saying anything because at this point, I'm hungry n just want to eat.2 min after taking my last bite I see my husbands eyes move quickly. At first I just thought he was trying to scare me like he saw something so I ignored him. Within 10 seconds the mouse ran by my feet!!! 1 inch from running over my feet!!! I jumped up and ran. The waiter and 2 female managers on duty thought it was more important just to give me the check and get me the hell out of there with absolutely no regard that there are mice running around people's feet. The waiter didn't even want to actually give us our check, he just asked for a credit card. Yes this is NYC n mice and rats are everywhere but they should never be running around your feet when your eating. Safe to say I will never be going back there.
The food was good but the price was very exaggerated for a regular size steak. And the view (acclaimed as a rooftop) is not that good. Mostly you'll feel like surrounded by buildings but not in a good way. I mean there are lots of taller buildings next to you, and you feel pressured while you are eating your "not that much specific and you can find it any where" kind of steak.
Absolutely the worst dining experience I have ever had. Actually angry about it because STK came highly recommended from a friend. Came for an anniversary to the rooftop. Hostess says she would put us at a very nice table for the occasion. On an empty rooftop, we were placed placed sandwiched between 2 other couples inches from each other. The sun happened to be directly in my face to the point I couldn't even look up. I asked the waitress if we could be moved to one of the 15 or so other empty tables. I was told "NO" because there was a reservation coming in shortly. Not one of those tables were ever used during our time there. Later, another couple was seated right next to us and it was difficult for them to sit next to us since we were on top of each other. The hostess said she would move them to one of the tables that I had asked to be moved to earlier! I was furious at this point. I was lied to and apparently STK picks and chooses who they want to accommodate! Food was terrible. I never complain about prices and I understand that you take a risk when you eat at a restaurant, but got the watermelon salad. Not a salad. It was a sliver of a piece of watermelon with a couple of greens on it and it costs $18. Ridiculous. For dinner, we ordered the porterhouse for 2, which costs $98. Asked for medium. Came out way over done and it had absolutely NO TASTE. I couldnt believe how bad it was. The steak should've. been more like $8. I never write reviews, but I feel I had to let this be known. Just so people know that I am not exaggerating, I worked in the food service industry so I know what it feels like to work for tips. I never take out it on the server, especially when it comes to food because everyone has different tastes and it's not their fault if I didn't like the meal. But having been lied to, poor service, telling a customer NO when it was easy to switch tables and flat out bad food on top of it, I gave 17% (which was generous)when I usually give 22-25%. Crap.
The service was terrible. The restaurant was practically empty and yet we had to wait 15 minutes for a waiter to come get our order and 15 minutes at the end to ask for the check, then another 10 to receive it.
The food was okay, good even, but the whole experience was overshadowed by the fact that we had to wait a long time each and every time we wanted service.
Probably not a place to go on a Friday night. The service was careless. We booked and still waited one hour. I only got my knife steak after I had eaten half of it. I wasn't asked if I wanted some aides nor which sauce I wanted for my steak...noise level was loud and not of great quality. There was a bunch of girls on the dance floor yelling like teenagers who had never gone out before
The recent reviews of this place all said the service was terrible. I figured the reviewers just had a unique bad experience, however, the service was terrible. We waited 45 minutes for our drinks alone. The waitress was swamped- they clearly did not have enough servers.
