Upon arriving they had a good system going on with the line outside prior to entering for your reservation the only thing is it took 40 minutes to be seated upon arriving inside… I understand having busy holidays making things slower but 40 mins is a little bit ridiculous. Also an update throughout the time we were just standing there would’ve been nice- I had to walk up and ask when I’d be seated after being patient for 30 mins.
Now the ambiance was so fun and energetic- it was awesome but the food…. was awful. I paid and didn’t complain because I already knew how busy they were but that was an awful steak. It was cooked pretty much rare. I was really disappointed. I also wrote down we were coming for a birthday dinner and nothing was done for it.. just didn’t seem like they really cared. Our server was super sweet though.
I had dinner with my 13 and 19 year old boys Thanksgiving evening. We were seated outside, which would have been lovely but the music was wildly inappropriate and extremely loud. It could have easily passed for a “Gentleman’s Club” judging by the music. There were younger children at other tables and I’m sure their parents felt the same. Service and food were average at best.
Awful experience from start to finish. Booked inside but seated us outside, cold food, very slow service and our sides never arrived. Avoid.
A very cool atmosphere. Incredibly slow and incredibly overpriced. The steak was good not great. The service was pretty slow but very friendly. Definitely not worth the price.
Waited over an hour and only got water, food was overpriced and mediocre, wait staff kept slamming plates in the bus bin next to the tables. The waiter himself was super sweet and no reflection of him.
The food was average. The DJ played only House music at a loud volume instead of mixing different kinds of music. It was unfortunate.
Great food and ambiounce. High energy music with a live dj was wonderful. The Stawberry Cobbler cocktail was perfect, not too strong or too sweet. Everything was truly delicious from the Tuna Tartar, Ceasar Salad, Salmon dinner, and the Pumpkin pie.
Had a great experience and enjoyable evening with with my four granddaughters. Our waiter, Adam, was attentive, knowledgeable and fun to be with. He made a perfect evening memorable
We were in NYC for the week of Thanksgiving and made reservations at STK for an afternoon Thanksgiving meal. The food was good and we were seated outside. Outside seating was actually nice because of the heaters and the noise level was much more quiet than inside! At 1 pm it sounded like a nightclub inside. The food was good and was decently priced but we had a total of 5 cocktails and spent more money on those than 3 full holiday meals! (Watch for the fine print on the drink prices!)
Best service I have had in years! Thanksgiving meal was a good value. Definitely a great place to go when visiting NYC.
It was nice
Great menu for lunch and particularly happy hour small plates. Service strange maybe due to shift change from lunch? Nice spot to talk and enjoy some great food and cocktails
Great experience. Came here for my birthday! The vibes are as advertised. Music is great. Sergei was a great waiter, was prompt and gave great suggestions. The food was great. The drinks were amazing as well. Definitely will come back!
Daughters first time in NYC and performing in parade
We enjoyed the night!
My server Cameron was so warm and welcoming. She took time to make recommendations and explain dishes to me. She was fantastic. I would however recommend that the support staff and other servers practice a little more teamwork and attentiveness even if it is not your assigned guest.
Our waiter was very considerate and patient, It was our first time and there were lots of questions but he was still very nice and understanding. The food was amazing, worth the price. Very beautiful!
The service was not good , Waitress was not good at all was late with drinks and Bread , Bring them out at the end and was Rude. This is not our first time at STK’s but the first time with this kind of service.
Dinner after the theater but it was also my aunt’s birthday. Everything was fantastic. Please ask for Isaiah to be your server. He was simply AMAZING!!!!! Loved him.
Came to STK to celebrate me and my brothers birthday and it was a wonderful experience. It was a Sunday around 3:30-4pm so there wasnt a wait and it was quiet. I have seen reviews saying it is loud but i really think it just depends on the day and time you go and my experience with the hostess was nice, she wished us a happy birthday when we told her. The food was delectable and well done and I would for sure come back again!!! Our waiter was also well mannered and kind and gave good suggestions!
First, OpenTable listed the wrong street for the restaurant. The entrance is on W 43rd Street and not 42nd Street. The answering service is remote, has no real knowledge of the area and were no help. Lunch service on Sunday was slow, but par for the pandemic. The food was excellent.
Our party had a blast last Sunday. Candice took great care of us. Food and (of course!) music was great. I would highly recommend!!
We went for brunch, the lobster Benedict and the steak and eggs were well done. The potatoes that came with the steak were bland. Service was solid, beautiful building. The entrance is actually not on the block listed in their address, but on the block behind it. Give yourself time to find it with all the construction right now. Enjoy
The Lobster Linguini & the Wagyu steak are so delicious
Sat outside with not enough heat lamps. The food was good but don’t think it was worth freezing for.
Overall great night. Food service and energy was great! Love DJ which made the mood even better. Me and my wife enjoyed our dinner date. Drinks were on point!
Why we won't be coming back: forgot napkins (had to ask twice), cocktail served without proper garnish, steak very undercooked, coffee cold, waiter snarky (rude comments about other patrons). Food decent, nothing special.
It’s a very loud and happening restaurant if you’re looking for every, this is the place! There is a DJ that is playing during dinner.
The food was good, our steaks were a bit over done. It took about 8 min for someone to greet us and take a drink order after being seated. Tables are about 8-12” apart, so if you don’t want to sit near people, probably not your place.
I found this restaurant to be below average for it's price point because of the following:
- Service was very slow.
- The food (steak) was below average, was not prime and tasted like it came from a grocery store. These factors made the meal way overpriced for what we got.
- Very limited liquor selection especially vodka. I would have expected a much wider selection at a restaurant such as this. There was also no liquor list available.
- $2.00 charge for blue cheese stuffed olives in a martini???? Never had that before in a high end steakhouse. Seems like a nickel dime move for a $20 drink.
- I booked my reservation with the note that it was my anniversary. It was acknowledged by the staff when I checked in as well as our server. We ordered one dessert at the end of the meal. I was billed for this. My wife and I have always celebrated our anniversary at high end steak houses all over the country and have always received comp deserts. It's a nice touch that we always appreciate. I am assuming this is not the policy at STK. Dropping almost $400 on dinner for two on a special occasion for us must not warrant this "extra".
This was our first time at STK and I had high expectations that food as well as the service would be excellent. I was sorely disappointed. I will not return to STK and would not recommend it. There is far better food, service and value at other steakhouses in this market segment.
When we get in to the restaurant they asked for vac cards but they did not even check them. The lady who showed us our table was so rude.
Portions were soo small in comparison to the price paid in other fine dining establishments we have been to. Service was pretty good. I ordered fillet medium cooked but it came well done. It was so dry and burned. For 2 kids and 2 adults we paid 450$.
Overall not a good experience, not recommended.
The food was delicious! I enjoyed every, single bite. My son (17 years old) had the NY strip and fell in food love. Adam, our waiter, was amazing!
I came alone on a Friday night at 5:30 before I went to see a show. I was seated outside which was fine since there were heaters. I ordered a glass of wine, tuna tartare, 1/2 dozen oysters,10oz filet, and Parmesan truffle Fries. They gave a great bread and butter but then they accidentally brought the steak and fries before the appetizer, which my server Isaiah looked horrified when he came back. They then proceeded to bring all my food so it was all out at the same time and forgot to bring me a steak knife until I had to ask later on. The steak was cold when I ate it. Then it took so long before they asked for dessert (which I wanted) and I was going to be late for my 8pm show (it was 7:10 at this point). I had just asked for the check but that took forever. I gave my card but needed to go to the bathroom so I went to the bathroom and the card wasn’t even there yet when I came back. They had already turned over my table for another guest. And I had to stand awkwardly for my card. My server comes horrified because he lost my card, and thankfully a customer found it. And then they charge me the whole amount, I feel like I should’ve had my meal paid for with what they put me through.
Hostess was a bit flakey; she performed the vax theater of checking cards if I had to guess, our waiter and many of the employees were new hires. Glasses and dishes accumulated on the table, had to ask a several times to get them out of our way. That being said, I DO know everyone is trying their best given the pandemic, so I don’t want to be overly harsh. I applaud the people who show up to do their job. The food was just meh to…sorta ok, given the prices. Our 6 oz filets were served lukewarm. The asparagus side arrived well after the entrees. Service was slow but it *was* a busy Saturday night, which I am happy to see. I hope this and other establishments in NYC continue to recover from Covid and thrive but STK was DEFINITIVELY a one and done for me.
Great service , great food easy Covid screening
My Husband and I visited NYC for our 5th Wedding Anniversary and decided to have dinner at STK Midtown. We visited STK in Denver most recent which was AMAZING and STK Vegas for out 3rd Wedding Anniversary and both were great experiences, but this experience was a bit different.
It took a while to be greeted at the table by our waiter, but he eventually came around and we immediately felt that he was distracted he didn't even tell us his name or he was moving too fast to hear what he said his name was. The restaurant was busy, and he had tables nearby but he spent more time socializing and taking shots with one party and then with the other party catering to their needs because I guess they were considered "VIP" because they knew the hostess.
The food arrived after a while and it was lukewarm at best and the lobster mac and cheese was ice cold no exaggeration. I am not a complainer, if something is an issue with a meal I just go with it most times and express my frustration in my review. The waiter never came to the table after the food was delivered, so we couldn't even catch him in real time. The Manager visited the table to check in and we shared our frustrations with the service and the food. She immediately took the mac and cheese to the kitchen to have that taken care of, but that didn't fix the rest of the food.
The Manager Shavonna came back to the table to follow-up on our concerns which really made us feel respected and appreciated as customers. She apologized on our waiter Miguel and the Cook's behalf for the service and food we were provided. What I appreciated the most about her is how sincere she was and she did not make any excuses and only tried to find solutions to make our experience better. I had made up in my mind that I would NEVER visit this location again, but because of Shavonna's sincerity, honesty and patience I will definitely give this location another try. She took our concerns to the chef a they sent us a dessert sampler & a drink
This is the first steakhouse, and I have been to many, where the music was so loud it was hard to hear the waiter, which is probably why the porterhouse steak we ordered medium rare came medium. We tried to order 3 reasonably priced wines but they were out of stock, leading us to pick a higher priced wine. The 3 sides (mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, and mashed potatoes) were smallish but delicious. The 10 oz filet was also delicious
2 year anniversary was a great atmosphere better food
