Waited over an hour for a table after making a reservation. Staff was not very considerate or friendly. People were allowed to stay at their tables over 3 hours which caused massive delays in getting seated. Food was good.
Be aware this place is very loud and is not recommended for diners wishing to talk with each other. This is sort of like being seated in the bar where there is a DJ playing music. It is quite crowded and, though we had a reservation, we were given a temporary round “outdoor -type” table with a black table cloth thrown over it and placed at the edge of the bar area - so this was not a good first impression. The real tables are wood and look quite nice. Steaks and sides are fine but people go here for the night club vibe.
Waited 15 minutes to have a server check our table for a drink order ;( The food was excellent. Our server comped one drink order 👍DJ music was roaringly loud ; it was too loud to truly enjoy dinner / conversation , etc !!! Bar ( two steps away ...) offered half off drinks . We were NOT allowed to take advantage of this 😡😡😡
Very snazzy atmosphere! Nice food, a bit pricey. A little bit too snobby on the front desk service, but wait staff are great!
Even with reservations we waited over an hour to be set. it was very disappointing as time is so valuable especially around the holidays
When we walked in it was very crowded so I knew there would be a wait. Our reservation was at 7:30 and ended up waiting for over an hour. We were next to the hostesses and the people that were coming in after us were getting seated before us so I became very upset. Finally I checked in and said we waited over an hour and they sat us right away. They were understanding and offered free Champaign. Overall the service was good and the food was great but the wait was just upsetting to me.
Have been to STK several times. The atmosphere at both in NYC is good with high energy and good music. The one in the meatpacking district is a little better.
The service this time was not great. It took a while for the waiter to come at all and did not come as often as they should have. In the meantime, when I was done with my plate but my guest was still eating the bus boys kept coming by to take our plates.
In yelp the price shows $$$ but the actual price mix should be $$$$$. For the two of us it was $340 and we only had one glass of wine each and a single shared appetizer. For that reason, I would recommend another steak place.
The steaks are good but def not as good as what you are paying.
Had to wait an hour for the table. Then table is in the middle of the room; they just pushed two tables together that was not designed to sit 3 people. They screwed up two orders as well. I will for sure not go back.
it was a bit too crowded to sit 7 people at the booth
Food was great, obv super expensive but that's to be expected. My only complaint is that I went for my wifes birthday and stated that as my reason for going when I made my reservations. I then told the hostess when I got there (quietly) that it my wifes birthday and she said "Yes I see that". I asked that when we order dessert, to please include a candle. Unfortunately this was missed. Not a huge deal, but it was not busy at all (Monday night) and considering my bill was $542 for only 2 people, I feel that detail should not have been missed.
Confirmed reservations at 7:45 and was told to close our bar tabs to be seated, only to end up waiting 55 minutes. I understand that some things are out of their control but would have appreciated more communication and transparency.
Great food, Great Service but to load for date night.
Very expensive and in my opinion not worth the price
Not good as i expected.
We had reservations and were seated right on time. It took 25 min for someone to take our order. Our waitress seemed rushed and like we were inconveniencing her. There was food stuck on my supposedly clean fork. My husband and I both ordered filets and they were fatty. The price was way too high for the quality of the food. The best thing we ate was the corn pudding side dish. Definitely won’t be eating here again nor recommending it to anyone. I much preferred our pizza and pasta dinner the night before that cost 1/4th of the price.
This was a night out for my husband and another couple. The food was very good. However, when spending at least $100/person on a meal, one would expect an attentive server and wait staff. There were several times staff didn't know what table to serve, didn't replace silverware that fell to the floor. Also, when requested a second round of rolls during our dinner...it came during our dessert...dessert that took almost 25 minutes to be served. Also, the our server seemed aggravated when we requested to split the bill...probably because the "ipad" that the bill displays on wasn't working properly and it took another 10 minutes to settle the bill. Thank goodness the music was great and our bellies were full! Probably won't come back unless someone else foots the bill.
First visit... out of towners from California. Recommended Wagyu Flat Iron Steak DELICIOUS! Side Dish: Crispy Brussel Sprouts So good!
All of our food was delicious and cooked to our preference. Cocktails were great, beer selection left a little to be desired. Our appetizer was the beef tartar, great flavor but the ranch was maybe a bit overwhelming of the beef itself. For the provided table bread, the blue cheese smothered helping was some of the best bread I have ever had... For the main course, we had a dry-aged Delmonico steak and an herb-roasted lamb rack, both perfect. The side tower of truffle parm fries was fantastic but got a little soggy towards the bottom. Desert was #thecloud, awesome.
Restaraunt itself was warm and cozy, maybe a bit too cozy. The booth was comfortable but the chair I sat in I thought was going to fall apart any second. Quite loud but not overwhelming, conversation was easy, music was a great mix. Our service was prompt and excellent, even with an almost 2 hours meal we were not left hungry, wondering where anything was, nor rushed between courses. The time flew by pleasantly. It was a little pricier than I felt was necessary for the style, portions, and location but still a wonderful experience.
The food was fantastic! Their sweet corn pudding was top notch! The “lil brgs “ are absolutely amazing. My filet with truffle butter and red wine sauce was cooked perfectly! Excellent cocktails!
Had a 4:15 reservation Saturday 12/7 my daughter’s birthday
Spending the day at Bryant Park and looking forward to a special dinner. The wait staff was great and so was the meal,
Then Malinda(assuming she is the hostess?)Came to our table
And asked us if we can finish our drinks and dessert at a back table because another customer was stamping her feet to be seated! we were told we exceeded our 1 hr and 45 minute table time. PROFESSIONAL?!??..... not at all
Spent a lot of money and for a restaurant like this I would never expect to be treated that way.
I will share this with everyone I know, too many great restaurants in NYC......
The wait was long but on their behalf... I wasn’t able to make a reservation until this evening so it was last minute.
Birthday dinner for my husband with friends and family. Horrible service. 3 out of 4 steaks were overcooked. When sent back, the side dishes got cold. Way too expensive to have that scenario!!!
The music was more like a disco night club than a restaurant!!!! People at our table of 6 couldn’t even talk to each other the entire meal. It was beyond loud and inappropriate!!! Just a horrible and disappointing dining experience. And for an $850 bill, it was painful all the way around.
I have been to this STK once a year - it has never been so disappointing. Will not return!!!
Great food as always
Seated on time
Music too loud for dinner time.
My husband and I loved everything about our meal!
Loved the location and scene at the restaurant. Food and Service was better than good but not great but would certainly recommend.
The best meal ever! Was recommended by a friend. Steak, Brussel sprouts, mash potatoes and asparagus were all delicious. Jermaine was an awesome waiter too! Great music playing also.
Went here for a birthday. Made a reservation for 730pm and was not seated until after 8pm. Asked for an update from the hostess staff at 745 and they said “the table is finishing up, we will seat you shortly.” Asked again at 755 why we weren’t seated yet. Said “the table is fighting over the check, we will have you seated in a moment.” We then finally got seated and looked at the menus. Didn’t get served for another 20 minutes. Ordered the cowgirl ribeye. Honestly wasn’t that special for $81 dollars. Ordered the Mac and cheese for a side and it was pretty good.
I am most upset about the customer service and the fact that I had to ask more than once for my table. It’s not like we didn’t have a reservation planned ahead of time. It’s disappointing going to a place knowing you are going to spend a good amount of money, but they won’t even give you the decency to tell you they are backed up.
I will not be attending this restaurant again.
Very nice vibe, great food! Celebrated my Birthday there.
Very very good food! Very expensive very loud! But the food quality was fantastic!
We waited 30 minutes past our reservation time. The only reason we got our table at that point was bexoz I kept going back to the desk.
Our waitress was lovely and the food good. But I don’t know if I’ll go back. Very noisy.
Food was wonderful. The music was so loud in the restaurant that we left immediately after our main course and had dessert elsewhere
Thanks for surprising us with a little decoration on our anniversary dessert. It was very thoughtful. Food was not my favorite (may have just been an off night) but the staff was exceptional!
Overpriced, overpriced & OVERPRICED.
Very average cuisine at an extortionate price with that good old US presumption of an extra 20% tip!! Once bitten... never again, thanks!
I booked a reservation through OT, had to wait a while to be seated. We asked but The restaurant did not offer either fresh nor the defrosting any frozen gluten free rolls.
My Steak was way overcooked to burnt well done and not a bit very flavorful at all. It was dropped in front of me then the servers were no where to be seen. No one came to ask if it was cooked medium as requested. My dining companion got the Rizotto. She indicated it was “ okay” but nothing exceptional. The waitress did come once well after we were eating to see if another drink would be desirable for her. My bill with tip was $250 for a medium size cowgirl rib way over cooked steak, mushrooms, and Rizzoto and an app of steak ta-ta. All in all it was not a very good meal. I would not go back to that STK. Other STK restaurants have served much better food, so maybe this was a one bad day situation, perhaps due to stormy weather, but it was bad.
Very nice steak. Service excellent. Atmosphere hip and upbeat with DJ. We will be back.
Ontvangst was zeer rommelig. Het voorgerecht was geweldig. Het hoofdgerecht (waygu) was niet lekker en te ver doorgebakken. Dessert was wel weer lekker. Bediening was prima. Alegemene indruk is niet een reden om terug te gaan.
Justin was really cool. Great asset to the STK team.
I asked if there were any aged rib eye options, and the server recommended the Delmonico, which is a NY strip.... which for a "high-end" steak house, completely unacceptable. I did end up ordering the Delmonico, and it was approximately prime grade and properly cooked, though not anything special for the $80 price tag... but fine, this is Manhattan. The real issue was when I pointed out that the steak had been cut improperly (looked to be cut down length-wise to match the menu-specified weight), the server proceeded to list 3 or 4 different ridiculous reasons why it was cut in that way, e.g. "Oh that's where we cut away the bone." and then, "Oh well all the steaks are trimmed like that." As I invalidated each "reason", another was rapidly offered. Finally I said fine, never mind, and ate the steak. It was a date, and we were short on time, so sending it back would have been a bit awkward.
-We were initially rushed to order because the kitchen was "closing soon". Open Table offered reservations up to 12 am, ours was at 11:30 pm, and we were on time.
-The server was changed mid-meal, then the original person came back later on. Again, unacceptable for a higher-end steak house.
-While there was food still clearly on the table, the bus staff came to take the food. When we said we were still eating, dude made a very intentional angry-face at us as if to shame us into submitting to his plate collection schedule, unbelievable.
Waiter was excellent. Food was great too. There was a DJing playing which made the experience fun. If you’re looking for a quiet place to dine on a Saturday night this definitely isn’t it. Overall great experience and I will be returning.
