Stir - Raleigh
Ambiance/atmosphere/vibe was great - would definitely recommend for those reasons. I loved the outdoor/indoor space. I was disappointed with the food. I ordered an avocado toast - but based on the product i received, it was an open faced egg sandwich with a light spread of avocado. Very disappointed, for paying $15, i barely received any avocado. The strawberry and basil mimosa was great, it just took a while for our server to ask for our orders, we had to ask twice for silverware, and flag her down for other items. I would still recommend to friends and would like to give this place another shot, i was just disappointed with the price for what i received.
Food was mediocre. Rather bland. I don’t think we’ll go back as there are too many places which are so much better.
Simply Amazing Restaurant! Atmosphere...Food and Drinks were all great!
Stir was a disappointment from the moment we were sat. The waiter told us the special for evening for dinner was 1.00 Mimosas and stated they did not have dinner special typically. The shrimp and grits had the consistency of water and the rest of the dinner was cold. The waiter did not seem trained or knowledgeable in the food or drinks (Lathaniel was and provided a great deal of support). If the food and waiter were average then this would be a pretty neat place.
West was a great waiter!. Enjoyed the spicy tuna burger. Nice mix of flavor. Dont shy away because of the sriracha infused egg. Cocktails are wonderful. I love a place that knows the perfect ice for the drink
Probably great for a casual lunch or dinner, but wouldn't recommend for business lunch, which was the reason I ate there at the recommendation of my client. I made specific notes in my reservation and it was apparent no one had reviewed the notes in advance. Not a huge deal, but when I mentioned one thing from the reservation note to my server, there was still no obvious effort made to be particularly helpful. My client recommended it based on her previous experience during a casual evening. I don't want to be unfair, but would strongly recommend the management make an effort in retraining the staff. Frankly, I was more impressed by the service of the valet people outside than the waitstaff inside.
Ward did a wonderful job with the service. The food and drinks where excellent. We sat outside and it was wonderful. We can not wait to try again soon.
We truly enjoyed our evening. Looking forward to trying more.
Celebrating our wedding anniversary. Really nice new restaurant!
Reserved for Sunday brunch. The hostess literally barely could acknowledge me, yet crack a single smile. Nor was she any help when the table I waited 10 minutes past my reservation for was placed with one less seat than needed. She acted as though it was my problem. Food is fair. Avocado toast says it has arugula on menu, but came out with spinach. Almost like they were like "ehhh, ran out of arugula, we'll just go with spinach instead, who cares". Waiter was good to be honest though, not his fault. Mimosa value is only thing that makes this experience worth it. 2nd time was a nail in the coffin though, we won't be going back. It's a shame too, we live 3 minutes from there and was really excited about their entry in the Raleigh food scene.
We chose to sit outside. The view is of the street and was not the best. We had great food and great drinks and service! We’ll be back
Second time here - 1st time was better. Dinner was fine, excellent actually. Service was slow and the cocktails were horrible.
We reserved an outdoor table since it was Friday Night Tribute music and I wasn’t sure how crowded it would be. Turns out it wasn’t crowded at all at 6pm. There were open tables inside and outdoors on the patio, although the bar inside was full.
Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered cocktails from the menu, which unfortunately took long time to get. I think the server forgot them, because when she asked us if we needed anything 20 minutes later, I mentioned the drinks and she seemed surprised and brought them to us quickly. Mine appeared to be only half full. Tasted good though.
Food took another 15 minutes, and have to say... it was really great! I ordered filet and crab ravioli, and my fiancé ordered chicken piccata. Steak was perfect, tender and seasoned well. Her dish was just as good.
I ordered a simple vodka Collins next, which so sour I could not drink it. When a mgr stopped to ask if all was okay, I mentioned the drink, which he comped and brought another. It was better but not as good as I’m used to.
We ended with dessert. The banana pudding cheesecake sounded good, but we were so disappointed. It was dry and bland.. more like baklava with little banana taste. I think we were expecting regular cheesecake with a nice banana flavoring.
All in all, a decent experience. Stir’s niche seems to be based around their drinks and artisan ice. We didn’t get that experience. However, the food was good except the dessert. The drinks were nothing special, and the menu is pricey. The free valet right at the entrance was nice.
Not sure if we’ll be back. There are lots of options close by, but if you’ve never been, give it a try. Hopefully the food will be as good as ours, and maybe you’ll get a different experience with the drinks and service.
Great place -love the atmosphere -everyone having fun!!!!
Every time I visit Stir, everything is perfect! The staff, food, ambiance...perfect! Thank you!
Restaurant is loud, even when there are a lot of empty tables. Service was slow. Waitress seemed to forget we were there.
It is a very cool looking space. The menu looked good and we were excited to try this place. It was ok but nothing spectacular. Our party of 2 adults was originally seated at a round table near the bar with low stools that made us feel like we were children. We asked to be moved to a regular table so we could enjoy our brunch since we weren't just having cocktails and our waiter was very nice and moved us. We ordered the shrimp and grits and the biscuits and gravy breakfast. While both were good, it wasnt great...just okay. We may try again at some point but it just didn't leave us with a MUST do this again feeling.
Everything was “fair” thus the reason for the 2 star rating. I was super excited about the craft cocktails and am used to paying a premium for good cocktails. My husband and I each tried a different cocktail both of which were just “OK”, nothing special. Oysters were good and ceviche was average - not much mahi and the tiny shrimp were partially frozen. The server was continually rushing us for our “entree orders” which is a pet peeve of mine. Sat outside which didn’t have much atmosphere and were sat right next to the door which was opening and closing non-stop and annoying. Many better options in the triangle, won’t be back.
Great meal and service. Only downside was noise.
We really enjoyed it here. Nice cocktails and the tuna burger was excellent. Other than being a bit pricey for drinks I would definitely recommend it.
We waited 20 minutes for someone to just visit the table. Was another 30 before appetizers were brought out and 10 more for the drinks that were ordered at the same time as the apps. Was a fairly slow night and you could see bartender flirting with a waitress rather than making drinks. It sounded like the kitchen was behind as well. Manager comped our drinks, but we were underwhelmed to say the least. Will give one more cautious chance, but for a restaurant named ‘Stir’ to take 30 minutes for a drink order was surprising. Maybe it was chipping the ‘artisanal ice’. We would have been fine with regular ice if it got our drinks out earlier.
The food was delicious and the outdoor patio was very inviting. You cannot beat $1.00 mimosas or a breakfast bar that comes with the entrees. The bloody mary was pretty bland and disappointing but the food made up for it.
Excellent Brunch and service was great. My friend and I went for brunch at 10:30am and stayed for the mimosa until 4pm! We didn't even realize we had been there so long, but loved sitting out on the patio just hanging out and eating great food and drinking great drinks!
Anniversary dinner ! Great drinks Great food and they gave ya a lovely dessert complimentary ! Thanks Stir —we will be back
Really love the food, ambiance and customer service.
The shrimp and grits are awesome! I have tried the baked oysters twice now and both times didn't feel like they were worth $17 - some very small. Great atmosphere! More appetizers would be great on the menu for sharing.
Busy place, lots of people watching to do! My tuna burger was on point! Blue Point raw oysters, on point!
Noise was not energetic, it was too loud. Very hard to talk at a table. The liquor pours were adequate, however the pricing was more in line with a 2 oz pour than a 1.5 oz pour. Needs improvement.
Brunch was outstanding. Grey, our server, had great suggestions. I will be back for more brunch time & try dinner
From the moment we were greeted by the warm and friendly hostess to the amazing and attentive server, Mel, our party of 8 had an amazing dinner and unique, delicious cocktails. We all felt that this was the perfect place for our group and would recommend to anyone wanting delicious food AND fabulous ambience.
Great spot for a business lunch. The menu was diverse enough to please everyone and everything that came from the kitchen was delicious. Attentive, but not overbearing service. Be sure to give yourself an extra 5 minutes to park in the deck and walk to the restaurant.
Very nice server but SLOW and it was dead when we went Sunday evening. I had a whiskey sour, awful, not even a garnish at that price! We split the charred oysters, very good. Crab bisque was like glue. Huge shrimp poor boy which was full of fried shrimp, pretty good. The tills book sliders were also good. Filet with ravioli was ok. My son was disappointed he only got one ravioli on top of a steak. My husband had the filet which he said was fine. No bread was offered. It’s a cool place but appeared a bit dirty, table was kinda sticky and my napkin was stained or dirty I couldn’t tell. Ick. I wouldn’t eat here again.
Birthday dinner but it was to loud . Still had a good time
Mediocre service, $17 shrimp and grits was cold and had only 4 shrimp, nice atmosphere, good for drinks
Great food, per usual!!
Really enjoyed eating at Stir. Service and food was really excellent. A little loud making it hard to heard others talk but good energy. Cocktails were poor at best which was the only disappointment. Martinis were actually served warm.......appeared there were too few bartenders for the packed house of patrons. Will go back for the food but drink beer or wine next time.
Fried Green Tomato Appetizer - highly recommend. Ordered a filet w veggies for dinner - veggies and sauce were served luke warm but the filet was good. Drink options are great but very pricey, $6 for average bottle beer. And, desserts - only 2 options and one was served stale.
I am puzzled by some of the earlier reviews. This was one of our best nights out in a while. Our food was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. In fact, we left our server a little over 30% we were that impressed with him. Wife had the shrimp, scallops and mac n cheese which I know sounds weird but it was fantastic. I had a crab-ravioli over filet that was also really really tasty. STIR is definitely going on our personal best-new-restaurants list. If I had to make one constructive criticism, it's that the wine-by-the-glass list is really uninspired. It's especially weird because the craft cocktail list is so creative, just couldn't figure out why they didn't apply the same inspiration to picking out wines-by-the-glass. Still, I'd go back to this place in a heartbeat.
I loved the vibe of this place. The mimosas were only $1 but still high quality. Usually cheap mimosas are watered down but there was PLENTY of champagne. Our server was really friendly and attentive. The valet was an unexpected plus, it was free and quick. I have the shrimp and crab Benedict and added the cheddar grits. 10/10 grits they were great. Cheesy and seasoned. I wish the crab in the benedict was more a crab cake versus just crab meat. I’ll probably get a different entree next time
My food was delicious was disappointed that they ran out of the Crab Bisque. If possible get there early an enjoy the area. The complimentary valet parking was a mess.
