STIR is the perfect restaurant to sip a craft cocktail over a dozen oysters, enjoy a night out, or meet for lunch. Located in the historic Chattanooga Choo Choo complex, the restaurant is an open-air concept with a large, heated outdoor patio. We are open for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.

Great food starts with fresh, local ingredients. Our kitchen prepares everything from scratch, and our signature raw bar is stocked with fresh oysters and seasonal seafood.

STIR is famous for craft cocktails. We freeze and carve 300-pound blocks of artisanal ice in-house, age certain cocktails in oak barrels for richer flavors, and place others on draft for crispness and carbonation. The result: categorically elevated cocktails. Our passion for fine spirits also compels us to find and share rare bottles, many of which are extremely difficult to procure.

    Stir is a favorite. The bar staff are very knowledgeable and will whip you up something out of the ordinary if you’re adventurous. Their food is good, my only complaint about the food is they have a small selection of entrees for vegetarian/ vegan diners. The space is great, but the floors are disgustingly sticky! When you stand in one spot too long it takes some pulling to get your feet unstuck. It’s throughout the restaurant and into the restrooms. I really wish they’d fix that issue.

    Subpar and did not meet expectations. Service was ok, but food fell short of expectations in every way. Chewy steak, cold fries, poke bowl that was more/less rabbit food. Not at all worth the price!

    Service was very good, food was only ok for the money. Oysters came out cold & pasta was supposed to be linguine, ( it was Spaghetti) She crab soup was excellent.

    This was probably our best experience at Stir. The food was amazing! I got the Tuna Salad and my husband got the Shrimp and Grits. Both were delicious. Our server was very attentive and professional. We have always loved the food here, but this trip was extra-special! Can't wait to go back again.

    I look forward to STIR every time I go to Chattanooga. The drinks and the bourbon selection are outstanding. Oysters, crab bisque and the scallops/shrimp mac and cheese were phenomenal! Love this place!

    Really good seafood, especially the salmon. Veggies were front and center, not a side dish to be ignored. Service was fine. Atmosphere was good. Pricey but worth it for special occasions.

    Ordered a burger without cheese. Of course it had cheese! Side dish of farro was more onion than farro. Great cocktails but out of barrel aged manhattans. A bit disappointing

    As always, Stir does not disappoint. Food and service were excellent. My steak frites and the wife's filet were excellent, as were our cheese cake and chocolate cake desserts. My only critique of Stir has been, and will be, the high noise level, especially on weekend evenings. Stir, like so many restaurants today, insist on high open ceilings and large open floor plans with no sound absorbing material or carpeting anywhere, and sound just bounces around the entire restaurant creating a very high ambient noise level, especially when the restaurant is filled with energetic people!! Still, Stir is our favorite Chattanooga restaurant, and we will continue to eat there and enjoy the food and service as long as both are maintained at their current masterful level.

    I met a date at Stir and was exuberantly greeted by one of the 2 hosts, who happened to be a former student. We were quickly escorted to a booth of our choice and quickly greeted by a server who reviewed the specials with a smile. Drinks came quickly and we weren’t rushed to order. The food was delicious and (having not glanced at prices as we ordered) I was pleasantly surprised at the low cost of the meal. I’d highly recommend this place and will return.

    First time coming and cool atmosphere. Service was off. We had to ask for someone to greet. She said she would find our server. Came back and filled up waters and said someone would come. We just asked if we could get cocktails. Food was good. For our meals I needed silverware and waited a long time to get. If service was handled than we would recommend.

    We are sometime reminded that we should not dine on Sunday because master chefs often take Sunday off. This may be our case 9Sunay, October 29th): My “shrimp and grits” entrée tastes too salty. I had to ask a server to give me a spoon so that I can take out the salty sauce. The other entrée was Seared Scallops. The vegs with this entrée taste dry and flavorless. The only things we liked were starters: Broiled Oysters and Fish Taco.

    The server was very good and attentive but there were some misses at, I assume, the kitchen level. We ordered a dozen oysters (6 of one type, 6 of another). We were shorted one oyster - someone cannot count to 12. We brought it to the attention of the server and the missing oyster was brought to us but it took quite a while to get it. 3 in our party ordered the same steak dish and I got the halibut. There were no roasted vegetables (plural - meaning more than one vegetable) on my dish, just roasted carrots (and the farro). The dish was good but nothing to write home about. The 3 steak dishes were all inconsistent - the steaks themselves were cooked correctly but the temps of the entire dishes were inconsistent. One came out prefect - everything at warm edible temp. One came out with the steak warm but everything else was cold. One person's entire dish was cold. There was pat of butter on the steak that would not melt because it was so cold. That dish was returned to be remade but by the time it came out, everyone else was finished with their meal so it was returned and that person didn't get to eat at all. There is no reason why three exact dishes should come out to the same table all at different temps.

    Service was a little slow but that’s the only negative I have to say. Food was excellent. Solid selections. We sat outside on patio which was a little loud but that’s unavoidable based on location.

    The old fashion tasted like kool aid. Our server told us the make it with cherry paste. The menu description said mulled cherries. The char grilled oysters were incredibly tiny I think they just took a torch and passed it over the oyster. The tuna bites were a mashed tuna on top of sticky rice. Tasteless. We decided to leave and forget ordering dinner. The bill was over $100. The server was very pleasant but service was very slow. He apologized saying that they had a large party in the back.

    Upon reading the reviews, I was so looking forward to celebrating my birthday at Stir. Unfortunately, our food was so-so. We ordered the charbroiled oysters and they were just ok. Not very charred in my opinion. My husband ordered the halibut for his meal and his was very good. I ordered the center cut filet and I could hardly believe how much salt was on it and the broccolini. Perhaps it was a new chef? Anyway, it was 50/50 at best. The Server was not very prompt or attentive except for providing the check. She was totally baffled by my ordering of a Negroni.

    Stir was such a great experience. Service was good and the food was fresh and hot. We had the grilled oysters to start and they were so good! We split a chopped chicken salad and the Parmesan truffle fries. All portions were great and shareable. Love the interior - its industrial yet welcoming. The bar has a ton of choices too.

    This is definitely a place to go back to. Everything about it was good. Flourless chocolate cake is the only thing that brought my five star to four star .. it was for some reason spicy 🌶️ 🤪. Take out that spice an it would be delicious . I got the sirloin bowl . Lots of great flavor. My husband got the steak an his was delicious!! Great ambiance ! Fun cocktails ! Knowledgeable and attentive serving staff!! Will return!
