StillWater Spirits & Sounds Ratings and Reviews
Being from out of town, didn't know anything about Stillwater's. Now we do. Outstanding customer service from all staff especially Edgar the manager who welcomed us and made us feel appreciated. Outdoor bar area is fantastic and vibrant. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a great place to relax and enjoy the Cali vibe.
Stillwater is a fantastic place for everything! Amazing food, great service, and one of the top live music venues in Orange County! There are not many stages set up like this to showcase such great talent. Shawn Jones is incredible if you get a chance to go see him when he's in town definitely go! David is my favorite server there, but all of the servers I've had have been great. Whether you want an inside happening vibe, or a chill by the firepit outside one, Stillwater brings it! Dana Point is lucky to have such a great place in the neighborhood. I hope this venue continues to be such a great success!
I made my reservations specifically because Shawn Jones was playing. And he was excellent. However, I was also impressed by the attentive and friendly service; including the hostess, bus people and our waiter, David Jones. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed. The food was good but, I am being picky now, the portions were not generous. I had a great time and will be back, just keep booking the good bands. Next time, I will order desert.
Made a reservation for dinner. Arrived on time and was immediately seated and surrounded by empty tables. About half the tables were filled. Lots of wait staff moving in and out of the area constantly... but we were totally ignored.
20 MINUTES later we had to hail someone and ask for service. No one had bothered to even bring water. Once we asked, we got service and the gal was very attentive.
Drinks were very strong. Food was fine. Overlarge portions. MUSICIANS were EXCELLENT and the dancing was fun.
The food was relaly wonderful. The bar/restaurant is supposed to be a pre-prohibition theme, and they do not even come close to it with drinks. I do not recommend having their cocktails. I've had better craft cocktails in SD. This restaurant is trying to catch on the the trend, but just missed the boat and is just a plain old sports bar and grill. Nice try though.
The food and service was very good, but we made the mistake of sitting at the outside bar during a football game. Very noisy from the TV and the crowd. They were having a good time, and the restaurant is definitely made for them, but we just wanted a quiet dinner. The inside dining room was freezing cold; it was beautiful outside ... if we had just not forgotten our noise cancelling headsets.
This place was once an awesome restaurant but they refused to take any ideas from the past.
Now it is a limited ((very) menu with few decent items.
only thing we like is the flat bread pizza...
Music is excellent as they did improve stage and sound but menu needs major work!
This was our second visit since the reincarnation of Renaissance into Still Water. We made an Open Table Reservation but the evening was nice and we found an open table on the patio and went for that instead. We split a Wedge salad (topped with short ribs instead of bacon) which was very tasty. Her Cowboy but steak was very good; my chicken was tasty but a little overwhelmed by the grilled Brussels sprouts. Service by Morgan was outstanding again and we had a very leisurely time with dinner after which some friends joined us for drinks and dancing. JD Priest Group was quite versatile and good. My biggest complaint is that the Prime Rib French Dip had been eliminated from the revised menu.
This was our second time going as a large group (12) and both times the service was very poor. We ordered 2 drinks at a time knowing it would take forever to get one. Food is good. They get good bands to play. They could use fans and crank up the a/c once everyone starts dancing. As a group we decided that we won't go back again no matter what band is playing.
Food and drinks were fantastic. The staff was courteous prompt and cheerful. We asked for seating with a good view of the band and we were seated at the best table in the place. Stillwater did everything possible to make the night a memorable one. We will frequent this establishment every time we visit Dana Point.
Stillwater is a makeover of the former Renaissance. Better food, quieter bar, remodeled bar/patio area and better overall ambiance. The 80's cover band was great and the place remains one of the few places in OC where "more mature" folks can rock out and dance like we were kids.
They have live music in the evenings, which is what draws us there. We saw the Jennifer Keith Quintet, and they were great. The food is good, the service is good. It's not a place to go if you want to have a quiet conversation, very energetic bar scene. Make a reservation if you want a table in the evening.
The place is very fun looking in the 20's era decor with all the wait staff dressed in period clothing. It was filled with a very diverse crowd of all ages and some patrons even chose to dress to the period. The outdoor dining looked really nice with plenty of tables, an outdoor bar, and plenty of heating. We decided to dine inside so we could have better view of the stage. The group that was playing our night was comprised of a small jazz band and singer. They were really talented and put on a very professional performance. There was a small area to dance which brought out a lot of swing dancers. The food was very good as well but a little on the pricey side. We really enjoyed our evening out and plan to stop by again.
The food selection on menu looked pretty exotic. So much that the pizza smelled like feet and was not that appetizing. The music did not arrive at the scheduled time that the restaurant had. Instead of starting at 8, the band didn't finish setting up till 915 and we no longer had patience to wait and hear what they had to play.
Ended up with a group of 25 instead of 10 and everyone at the restaurant made it work beautifully even though the restaurant was packed. Had a great night with great food and exceptional entertainment. Jennifer Keith band is the best for jazz lovers and swing dancers! Can't wait to go again soon!
We were totally disappointed with this place. The music was way too loud- we couldn't hear each other across the table. The food was quite poor. My pizza was burned on the crust and the fries were cold. We barely saw our server and had to track her down for the check. If you are looking for a loud music/bar scene it's fine- just don't expect great food.
Stillwater Spirits & Sounds is a cool restaurant that hosts great live entertainment in the evenings. We went to celebrate my wife's birthday with a nice meal, as well as take in the jazz & pop standards of the Jennifer Keith Quintet. Our dinner was great, and dancing to the band was the perfect end to the evening.
Third visit now this year and took our friends to see Jennifer Keith Quintet perform (jazz). We arrived at 7 for dinner which was excellent. Service was great and the band performed to their normal high standards. This is a very cool location and I would recommend it.
