I found The Sticky Walnut a great experience.
Everything (service, venue, etc) was brilliant.
Focusing in the food the hake starter was cool, fresh and appetising.
The main featherblade, was rich, tasty, everything on the plate cooked too its best, and nothing was left.
Now for sweet afters I never normally bother as just its not really my thing, but as the starter and main were great I was curious too try, I had the baked pineapple and white chocolate cake, and It was fantastic, glad I went for it.
Overall a noteworthy dining experience,

Lovely food, wine and service to match. A real foodies place with some interesting dishes, all immaculately prepared. Moderate but filling portions. A little pricey, but couldn’t fault it for attentive service.

Sorry to say that the handling of the managers was very unprofessional. After a spending a large sum of money wasn’t TOLD we had to leave.
I understand it’s a small restaurant and time is very important.
But there was a very different way it could of been dealt with and avoided.
Shame we will not return

Lovely food as usual at SW. Had the braised feather blade of beef. Gorgeous with a lovely rich sticky coating. Amazing pineapple and white chocolate cheesecake.

Also, really friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Not the stuffiness you might get in some restaurants serving food this good.

It's not cheap in absolute terms, but it is really worth it.

This used to be my favourite restaurant in Chester. Haven’t been for a while and feel the ambiance and food has changed a little. Preferred old layout downstairs as had a better cosy rustic feel. Staff were great and very friendly on the night, food was good overall though a bit heavy on a salty taste especially main braised beef. Rice pudding desert was my favourite, very tasty.

Food good , downside was when my wife mentioned she loved the honeycombe dessert, they brought her an extra piece to take away, then added £1.50 to the £75.00 bill!!!

Great food, service and value - previously had a great lunch at sister restaurant Wreckfish in Liverpool - Sticky in Hoole was every bit as good - love the consistency achieved by Elite Bistros and their teams - and btw I rarely write reviews but these guys are worth the effort ....

Appearances can be deceiving and this restaurant proves the point. Understated in its overall appearance bar a chandelier that was definitely out of place. It delivered on the quality of its food and particularly on service. In my opinion definitely worth a visit.

It’s been a few years since I last ate here (it’s so good that it’s hard to get a table for dinner) but it was just as good as I remembered. I have to recommend the beetroot salad with sticky walnuts, it’s divine!

We eat here occasionally as, while expensive, the Sticky Walnut has always had the wow factor. Sadly this was missing on this occasion. I ordered the premium priced lamb rump and was presented with two small pieces of lamb both with about a quarter fat on them. I immediately commented on this to the waitress who said she would talk to the kitchen. The lamb was OK but nothing like as succulent as I would have expected for the portion size and price. I again expressed my disappointment when a second waiter collected the plates. The cheese I had was very nice but presented very oddly with four slices of dry bread. I could only eat one. No one came to talk to me about my complaint which was also disappointing. Service was also average as never once were we asked if we wanted more drinks despite sitting with none at the pudding course. We declined coffee. Their loss. An average but still rather expensive meal.

Our table had four guests and we were each very happy with our meals. For entree three of us had the Crab Agnolotti and it was beautiful, the flavours were delicate and there was the perfect amount. One had the torched sea trout and whilst very good, wasn't appreciated quite as much as the Agnolotti! For mains we had two Feather Blades, one Chicken and one Cod. All mains got a big tick and the side of truffle chips were very much enjoyed. Overall we were really happy and would definitely head back there again when in the area! We also managed to share desserts, having the Creme Brulee and the Chocolate Mousse. The Brulee was perfect and the Chocolate Mousse very rich, but between two just the right amount of richness.
