About Sticky Rice
With its charming atmosphere and bad attitude you won"t find anything quite like it. Our specialty is our fresh sushi bar. With rolls like g.i.jane, shiitake happens and Godzirra, how could you go wrong? Our huge bowls of noodles will satisfy big and small. Sandwiches, large salads, and a selection of other entrees round out the menu. We also feature a kids menu! Don't forget the (soon to be famous) bucket of tater tots with our special tot sauce. Sticky Rice, established last century has been rolling on and on. Sticky Rice serves up an unusual mix of American, Pan-Asian entrees in a friendly, inexpensive and inviting atmosphere. Spring rolls, potstickers, sushi, noodles and edamame (steamed soy beans) are simple and standard. Lots of choices for vegans and vegetarians!

Sticky Rice Ratings and Reviews
Anywhere where you can get homemade tater tots to start and damn good sushi and drinks...Count me in...
Sticky Rice is a Richmond, Va institution and the location in DC is fast approaching that status. On H street which is quickly becoming one of the big hot spots around the Cap Hill area, Sticky Rice is sandwiched in between main local bars and pubs including "The Pug" which is pretty much next door..
Give Sticky Rice a try for sure...you wont be disappointed...
The service was fantastic, staff very attentive and quick to turn around the tables. My bf and I are vegan and ordered their vegan sushi rolls, which were both creative and tasty, not terribly overpriced.
But BE WARNED: both of us ended up getting a bit sick afterwards. Not sure if it was an issue of cross-contamination, but something ended up churning our stomachs, so if you have dietary restrictions, be sure that the staff is extra careful about it.
Overall, though, the atmosphere was warm, modern, and fun, the food was fantastic, and the staff very friendly and quick. I'd probably eat here again.
Five of us went there after meeting someone coming in at Union Station. It served our purpose - close by, casual, vegetarian options, and children-friendly. We had a fabulous waitress but she was overworked and had to run up and down the stairs all the time. Food was ok but not anything I'd run back there for. TV was not appropriate for kids (not sure about adults, either), so we had to work at avoiding the screen. It was all fine. Just not fabulous.
This is in my daughter's neighborhood and we got together for a casual dinner. Clever good combos at very reasonable prices. What kind of food? Hipster Asian is as close as I can come. Noodle bowls, sushi/sashimi, rice dishes. Everything done well if not wowzer-ish. Friendly, attentive server despite the crowd, decidedly noisy but in a happy way. Would definitely go back.
Jake was a great server and she made sure we were well taken care of. The tempura avocado was awesome and the tots were delicious! As not a seafood eater at a sushi restaurant, I really appreciated all the vegetarian options. My husband LOVED his poke bowl.
They were having issues with gas service upon arrival so sadly we were only able to have cold sushi. While good, I've certainly had better. I do admit that the staff called to warn us ahead of time, and they were very gracious and helpful for something that was out of their control. I'd certainly go back to try it again off of the service alone.
Went in at an off time and had a fantastic experience. Wait staff was very attentive and friendly. Joked around with us about how much water we were drinking - it was an unreasonably hot day and two of us had just been out running. The food is phenomenal and full of interesting flavors and choices. Numerous vegetarian and vegan options. I had the Dirty Vegan with buckwheat noodles and it was full of flavor , a little spicy, and filling! I was surprised that I had to share a little with my spouse. Fun vibe and decor. I could definitely come back in the future.
This was my first time visiting Sticky Rice. I really enjoyed the food, and my drink, but the Saturday evening DJ downstairs made it incredibly loud, so the already half-inebriated patrons upstairs were talking even louder. It was altogether just too loud in there for my taste. I would go back...at a different time.
I had a really good friend come in from California and she wanted something "DC specific", so I was like Sticky Rice!! I love love love this place. Great food and service EVERY time I eat here. We had a blast, shared some sticky balls, fried cheesecake and other rolls. Yummy just yummy!!
Food was delicious and good value -- lived up to its reputation. We went on a Friday night and it was quite busy with loud music (good 90s playlist). Service was good though our server was understandably busy and seemed overwhelmed. We don't goto H St often but glad we tried Sticky Rice. Will definitely recommend.
I have never been to this location before. I used to dine at Sticky Rice in Richmond when I lived there. I was so excited to have the Sticky Balls again! My reservation was for 2 and I was the first to arrive. I arrived a couple minutes early and was hoping to order some appetizers to have them ready when my date got there, since we were both starving. I inquired about going ahead and being seated, but I was told that I needed to wait until my other guest arrived. The host told me that I could wait at the bar. I'm in recovery from alcohol addiction and I really did not want to be sitting at a bar, but there was no other option besides going back outside into the cold. I had just made the reservation about an hour beforehand because I thought the restaurant would be busy. The restaurant was clearly not busy. I wish that I had not made the reservation because then I would not have gone through the discomfort of being told my only options for waiting were a bar or the cold. That really put me in a bad place mentally for the actual meal. When my date arrived I told him that I was considering going somewhere else due to the experience I'd had thus far. We decided to go ahead and dine. When we went upstairs almost all of the tables were empty. Our meal was absolutely delicious and the server was attentive, knowledgeable, and gave great recommendations. Other than my negative experience with the host, this was a great experience.
The place has a dive-bar feel which is not a problem and the sushi is good. Besides the sushi, everything is unremarkable. The tuna was overlooked and not well seasoned. The major problem is the service. Our server acted like he was doing us a favor by taking our order or when I pointed out that our plates were visibly soiled. Terrible place to meet for a work lunch but I'll reserve judgement for a casual outing and will only be ordering sushi.
