Very good food. Service was put when we arrived but waiter was very nice and attentive. Be careful, Google maps tried to send you down an alley in back, restaurants opens onto main Street, not alley.
Food was fine and service was fine. The noise level was very loud though.
Took the family there before a show at the Atlas - great experience and food, all around!
There's something on the menu for everyone. Beer on tap and outdoor dining would make the place even better.
Sticky Rice is almost my go to for variety, the staff is very good, lots of attention to the customers and know the menu well.
I love this place. Best Sushi Ever!!!
NEVER GO THERE. WAITED AN HOUR AND A HALF FOR DRINKS AND LETTUCE WRAPS. ACTUALLY, I HAD TO GO WALK DOWNSTAIRS TO THE BAR TO GET OUT DRINKS. NEVER GO THERE.
Slow service. An apparent glitch with printer = orders did not make it to the kitchen. When food arrived one order was missing and had to be made from scratch while the rest of us had our food in front of us. No accommodations were made to make up for this.
Love this place. Great sushi and stir fry. Cool date night spot
They closed the restaurant in our faces when we walked up for our dinner reservation. Didnt get served or offered anything for inconvenience.
Don't waste your time at Sticky Rice. My wife and I wanted sushi and we had been to sticky rice before and liked it but never again. We sat on the 2nd floor that had a number of flies buzzing around the tables.
We had to get our own plates and utensils after repeatedly asking for them. Our server disappeared for some time and did not put our entire order in. It took him 15 minutes to bring us the wrong beer and another 20 after that to bring us a new one. We finally received our entire order after placing it again with the hostess. She was the only bright spot of a rather dismal meal. She was busing tables, running to the kitchen and gave us our bill because our server disappeared once again. Unfortunately, the bill was incorrect because our server decided to charge us for the free beers he gave us for the long wait.
The server finally came back and apologized and had the nerve to say, " You have been here before so I am sure we will see you again." He couldn't be more wrong. There are a ton of options in DC with better food and service. I will never be back. If I were you I would avoid Sticky Rice and spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
The experience was ruined by sloppy service and it wasn't an especially busy night. 2 of four entrees arrived 5 minutes before the rest -- the waitress came up and asked if everything was ok without noticing that the other entrees had not arrived. There was no apology but we just rolled without complaint and they came shortly thereafter. The ambience and vibe is more and welcoming/interesting downstairs but there are very few tables/mostly bar. The food was very good
Disclosure: it may be unfair of me to compare recent visit with my then-frequent attendance 5 years ago. Something has changed since, but I am not quite sure exactly what - the food is not as authentic as before (especially excess use of condiments/sauces), the music was ridiculously loud, just about everything seemed dirtier and worn out.
The sushi was not fresh and the service was subpar. Every time we needed our waiters attention, we would have to flag him down or stand up from the table to find him. With so many great sushi restaurants in DC we will not be back.
As usual at Sticky Rice, the food is good and the service is not. No drink refills, slow to take our order, very slow to see we were waiting for the check after our meal. Server missed an opportunity for more drink orders. The slow service is partially to blame on the layout: servers have to run up and downstairs from the kitchen to their tables.
Our food was delivered by a runner and we did not have sauce cups or silverware. After waiting for our server to check on us so we could request what we needed, we helped ourselves to cups and ate with our hands because our food was getting cold. More waiting after our meal for our server to come so we could request the check. We finally cleared our table to signal we were ready to leave. The server came promptly then.
I was really excited to try Sticky Rice since they offer amazing vegan sushi options. However, they were out of two things I tried to order- one being the tots bucket, and the other a seasonal special roll. The waiter didn't inform me that the special roll was out, he said he'd check and then I had to confirm when he brought out our food and it was missing. One of the two vegan rolls I ordered was made with non-vegan cream cheese so I couldn't eat it, and our waiter was so busy that he didn't check in until after everyone else in our party had long since finished their meal and it was too late to order a replacement. He took it off the bill but didn't apologize or offer to re-make it. :(
The one small roll I was able to eat was great, as was the appetizer we ordered. It was just disappointing to be so excited to try a place with great vegan options, expecting a feast...and to basically have no dinner while the other diners in our group enjoyed theirs.
Anywhere where you can get homemade tater tots to start and damn good sushi and drinks...Count me in...
Sticky Rice is a Richmond, Va institution and the location in DC is fast approaching that status. On H street which is quickly becoming one of the big hot spots around the Cap Hill area, Sticky Rice is sandwiched in between main local bars and pubs including "The Pug" which is pretty much next door..
Give Sticky Rice a try for sure...you wont be disappointed...
Dumplings and rolls were delicious. Great drink selection. GREAT ambiance if you like 90s hip hop and a good time!
Service from the front door to the table was horrible. The host had no real idea what was going on. The server tool our order and we didn't see him again until he brought the check. Worst experience ever.
The service was fantastic, staff very attentive and quick to turn around the tables. My bf and I are vegan and ordered their vegan sushi rolls, which were both creative and tasty, not terribly overpriced.
But BE WARNED: both of us ended up getting a bit sick afterwards. Not sure if it was an issue of cross-contamination, but something ended up churning our stomachs, so if you have dietary restrictions, be sure that the staff is extra careful about it.
Overall, though, the atmosphere was warm, modern, and fun, the food was fantastic, and the staff very friendly and quick. I'd probably eat here again.
I just love Sticky Rice. It's Asian Fusion on point with plenty of vegan/vegetarian options. They just hired a new cocktails menu/drinks specialists, so Bottoms Up! #xoxo #beisos
food was okay, with a pan-Asian selection. Felt the calamari was over-priced, especially for the very small portion. With such a selection of restaurants on H St, probably won't return anytime soon.
Five of us went there after meeting someone coming in at Union Station. It served our purpose - close by, casual, vegetarian options, and children-friendly. We had a fabulous waitress but she was overworked and had to run up and down the stairs all the time. Food was ok but not anything I'd run back there for. TV was not appropriate for kids (not sure about adults, either), so we had to work at avoiding the screen. It was all fine. Just not fabulous.
Really nice atmosphere, relaxed and not rushed.
Great service and food
Eli our was horrible, rude and got our meal wrong as usual.
Always a blast eating at my favorite Sushi restaurant! Food is always fresh and tastes amazing!!
Good food and cool vibe. Unfortunately lackluster table and filthy bathroom.
Service is Excellent. Only try the sushi, it is good but nothing amazing. Great place for drinks, wonderful down to earth bartenders
The service was horrible. The waitress didn't want to give us water, forgot to order our food, even didn't include a pen for the check. Horrendous.
This is in my daughter's neighborhood and we got together for a casual dinner. Clever good combos at very reasonable prices. What kind of food? Hipster Asian is as close as I can come. Noodle bowls, sushi/sashimi, rice dishes. Everything done well if not wowzer-ish. Friendly, attentive server despite the crowd, decidedly noisy but in a happy way. Would definitely go back.
Sticky rice has really good sushi . There appetizers are always good. There are plenty of options for vegetarians and they have plenty of food choices for kids
We ate out on the patio upstairs and enjoyed tuna bites, tofu bites and shrimp! Creative dishes, fun atmosphere!
My favorite sushi restaurant! Always a great experience, staff is accommodating and the food is always fresh!
Jake was a great server and she made sure we were well taken care of. The tempura avocado was awesome and the tots were delicious! As not a seafood eater at a sushi restaurant, I really appreciated all the vegetarian options. My husband LOVED his poke bowl.
The food is unexciting. The poke bowl with yellowfin was tasteless.
Great saki. Good value for sushi rolls. Nice casual place for friends dinner.
Was excited about the Sake Sampler and a diverse menu but it just didn't do it for us. Too noisy, not cozy. The service was great.
They were having issues with gas service upon arrival so sadly we were only able to have cold sushi. While good, I've certainly had better. I do admit that the staff called to warn us ahead of time, and they were very gracious and helpful for something that was out of their control. I'd certainly go back to try it again off of the service alone.
