Stephi's On Tremont Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I went out for our 26th Anniversary and we wanted to go someplace in the South End. This place was inviting, and the prices were moderate. The food was fine, the service was good......our waitress was new. I would definitely go back again.....I must try the pizza!!
So I was excited to eat here as always seems to be packed. Hostess and servers were very friendly and got a table right away. After that things went a little downhill. Service for entree was slowed ( although appreciated that apps were delayed). My cocktail tasted like cough syrup but they were good enough to replace it after I said how much I didn't like it. Thought meatloaf was supposed to be stuffed with cheddar cheese and wasn't but maybe I misinterpreted.
Fish my husband had was really good. Overall fine but a little disappointed. People very nice though!
Second time at Stephi's, first time for brunch. Waited 25 minutes for first drinks, coffee and water, but once they got going, service was excellent and food was good! I would say excellent for the food if they toasted the english muffins on Eggs Benedict (two of us agreed on this). Just don't care for 'raw' muffins under the delicious ham and perfectly poached eggs! French fries were fantastic (who knew they go well with Eggs Benny)?!
The front booth was perfect (otherwise the noise level is really too loud for our liking).
For dinner or brunch - will definitely return next time we are in SOHO! Great staff!
Went at 9pm on a Saturday. A lot of the menu wasn't available as they had ran out of ingredients. Completely unacceptable. First time in my life where I went to a restaurant and they told me they had ran out of ingredients. Pity as the place is nice and the salad I got was actually very nice too
The tables in the restaurant are much too close together which creates a non-existant level of intimacy. The noise level coupled with the seating deficiency makes for difficult conversation. The dishes are overpriced considering the amount of food and lack of sides.
2 pizzas were ordered. We were warned there is only 1 pizza cooked at a time. Second pizza came
Out 20 min after first one. Those people already done eating and when the second pizza came
Out, It was burnt on the top
And bottom. Waited too late
To send back and when server asked how everything was, we told them
It was burnt and she said oh sorry. Since we were going to a play, there was no time to wait for another one. We thought the pizza should not have been brought to the table looking like that.
One member of the group had
Food allergies and bread
With his allergens brought to the table and he was not warned to avoid it
Generally not a
Good dining experience! No allowance was offered for burnt pizza. We will not be
This location and the Newbury Street location have always been good. A few of their dishes are exceptional, but most of the offerings here are no better than good. Fairly consistent, though portions on certain dishes have gotten smaller. What this location lacks is any sort of people watching that the Newbury Street location has, and as such more of the focus is on the food (for better or worse). This isn't fine dining. Far from it. Think of your mom's go-to dishes with moderate upscaling. Mac n cheese, meatloaf, pancakes, etc. Really good, but rarely great.
I was very disappointed with brunch at Stephi's. We went at 10 on a Sunday and it wasn't that busy so I figured service would be great. We got our drinks and shared a sticky bun for an appetizer and that was good, but we waited and waited and our food just wasn't coming. After 20 or 25 minutes we asked and the waiter told us there was a situation, but did not explain. Finally our food came and it wasn't great. My omelette was very dry and the potatoes were undercooked. My friends got eggs benedict and they forgot the avocado it was supposed to come with. I was really hoping it'd be a great meal and it was very disappointing because both the service and the food were not good. I have friends in the South End and love to do brunch in the neighborhood but do not plan to go back to Stephi's.
I usually love the salads at Stephi's, but my last salad was poor. The lettuce was stale and limp, and it was downing in dressing. It would seem that Friday evening is not to best time to dine at what is usually a go-to place for the South End neighborhood.
The food was OK. after a few good meals there, we weren't as impressed this time around. The monkey bread came out 20 minutes after ordering, and was on the overcooked side. It took another almost 30 minutes for our food to come and 2 of them had to be sent back as they were over-cooked or cold. the bloody marys were great (although we had to send one back as the wrapper to their bloody mix fell into one of them). We still love the atmosphere and would definitely go back another time and hope to not have the same experience. It probably didn't help that there was a very large party that was very loud (and many tables actually moved or left because of it). Seemed to throw off the entire place and experience.
Took a co-worker to lunch. Been to Stephi's many times and the food and service is always good. The lobster roll was wonderful. Friend had a rueben sandwich which she enjoyed. Sat outside on a beautiful day. Frequent the Southie location more often which is also great!
Can't go wrong at any of their locations!
I have been to Stephi's on Tremont many times. Most of the time, it was very, very good. The last two times, their food was terrible, service was inadequate, and both times, the restaurant was not busy. Once can be an aberration, twice can be a trend. I'm hoping not.
