My book club friends enjoyed lunch outdoors at Stephi's. The food and the view were both excellent,
I have been to Stephi's on Tremont many times. Most of the time, it was very, very good. The last two times, their food was terrible, service was inadequate, and both times, the restaurant was not busy. Once can be an aberration, twice can be a trend. I'm hoping not.
Not a good experience. Very SLOW service and it was not even busy. Our food was over done. Not good. Don't think I will eat there again.
This is the second time I've eaten at Stephis. It took 15 minutes for the server to get my drink order, while the couple at the table across from me had their water and drinks as soon as they sat down. There were three waiters gathered in a space near my table, they probably knew that I had been sitting there for a while, communication was not taking place. My waiter came to the table and apologized, said that there was a mix-up. From that point, he was attentive but I was still a little annoyed. I had the meatloaf, which was excellent. The service needs to improve.
Great location for dinner before or after the theater. The bartender, Brad, is a gem, kept our glasses full and knew us by name. The special of the day was excellent. The environment is friendly.
The food was absolutely fantastic. It was a lot of buttery taste I feel like but it tasted amazing. Everything was so perfectly season. I ordered the lamb dish and it was really good the risotto that came with it was also fantastic. The server rarely came to check up on us and to be honest there weren't that many people so we had to wait a little longer to ask for something but not really a big deal since we weren't in a hurry. Overall a really good experience!
We had a terrific waiter and the food especially the bronzino was delicious.
Been to Stephi's on Tremont many times but first time on a Friday night. Food and service are always spot on. But the customers at the bar were overly loud and it was hard to carry on a conversation with friends. Next time I will eat outside if going on a weekend night.
Went with my dog who they kindly allowed to sit with me outside (on other side of fence). Good flatbread and drinks. Friendly server.
First time here and very happy. Service was friendly and quick. Ordered the lobster guacamole which was tasty. Only complaint was the lobster was lost in the flavors of the salsa. Mahi Mahi was excellent. They ran out of the lamb so my husband was disappointed. Overall, happy with the experience and will return.
Lovely dinner here over the weekend. We had a pitcher of the sangria, a few cocktails, and such delicious food - a pizza, lobster roll, north ender sandwich, shrimp scampi, and pita plate. All fantastic, and service was so wonderful!
Fantastic food and service. Truly memorable meal. My only complaint is that the restaurant has an active bar scene and is very noisy...although Stephi's On Tremont is quite an attractive restaurant this not a place for quiet conversation or a romantic meal.
Been here many times for pre-theatre meal ... always good.
Good food. Ordered salmon salad and fish was not overdone. Service was prompt and courteous. Arrived and seated early without drama. We were in and out as quickly as we wanted to be (730 curtain at nearby Calderwood )
One of the worst experiences I have ever had. We were in a rush to get to a show and told this to wait staff who's said no problem. One hour later still had no food. Had to leave without eating. I called to report this to a manger the day after and asked for follow up. No one has contacted me
Philippe was great and extremely accommodating. Nothing was a problem for him and he made dining experience for us enjoyable and relaxing
I sat at the bar and was promptly engaged with the bartender, Luke. I ordered a glass of French Rose' that was mildly dry and refreshing. For lunch I ordered the seafood salad. The shrimp was cooked medium. It could've been a little less tough/cooked. The Scallops were way overdone. I think they were marinated since they were yellow. This could account for the harder texture. I had to ask Luke for more lemon. The dressing had no acidity, lacked seasoning as well. I did finish my salad but I expect seafood to. E cooked properly. It's delicate, takes a short time to prepare & cook. I'm a pretty good cook and eat many types of fish so I am picky.
This meal was awful. HORRIFIC service, drinks not filled til the top, food was flavorless or sour. My gf were miserable. Ending up giving the bus boy a bigger tip than our waitress because she was so miserable in accommodating. Don't go here, you'll be disappointed
Service was terrible and food was wildly overpriced. Our appetizer didn't come for 45 minutes, so at that point we left and went somewhere else.
The food was good, but the service was horrific. We had six p.m. reservations and didn't order anything particularly complicated. We had theater tickets for 7:30 and our food did not come till close to 7 p.m., a one-hour wait. We kept asking. Profuse apologies were delivered, but not the food. We have eaten here before, and we like the menu very much. But nothing, and I mean nothing, is worth waiting one hour for. I can't imagine we will ever return or, for that matter, recommend the place to anyone else. Every restaurant can have an off night, but this is taking "off" to a totally unacceptable level.
A terrible restaurant. Lousy food, service and it is dirty.
With so many other great choices in Boston, take this one off your list!
Fun place to check out, have been to the Stephanie's on Newbury before but this is a great location with a view on the south end sooo worth it!
Very nice experience. We dined before the theater. Had not been in a long time. Our meals were exceptional - lovely sauces and creative.
Will defnitely return.
Hummus was amazing and memorable. Delicious !! If I lived here would visit a lot!!
I've been here a couple of times before when it was less crowded. This time it was packed. The tables were too close together, wobbly, and I could barely hear what my date was saying the whole time. We had to keep saying "what", which doesn't make for a great date. The food took a full hour to come, which was dissapointing alone, but it was also way worse quality than what I'd had here previously. Overall a very frustrating experience after I had hyped it up to my date.
We had outstanding fish dishes at reasonable prices. The service was not professional and the noise level was troubling but the quality, creativity and value of the food easily overcame those drawbacks.
After being told by the waiter that several items on their menu were unavailable I got discaoursged. Food looked great online but tasted sub par. We went on a Sunday for brunch for my dads birthday. Not much flavor to anything, in fact I could have done a much better job at home. Just all around disappointed but the service was good.
Nice neighborhood restaurant for a quiet evening dinner.
The food was great, meatloaf was spectacular as usual and Jonathan (our waiter) allowed plate substitutes. I love their flexibility and overall casual atmosphere, not to mention the friendly, engaging wait staff - Jonathan was charming, enthusiastic, friendly, and attentive, as were the servers. See you all again soon!
Fantastic dinner before the theater. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I was impressed with the number and variety of gluten friendly options on the menu! I ordered the salmon dish with lentils and my friend had the braised short ribs. Both were delicious. Our cocktails were excellent. We'd definitely come back when we have more time to linger and recommend it to friends!
We had a wonderful pre-theatre dinner at Stephi's. The hostess greeted us warmly, an sat us at a window booth. Jonathan, our server, answered our questions about items on the menu, and provided friendly and responsive service. There were four of us. Each couple ordered a caeser salad to share. The salad was divided in the kitchen, which makes a nice presentation. We each ordered a different entree, branzino, meatloaf, ribs, and scallops. All the main dishes and their accompaniments were delicious. The German chocolate cake was our choice for dessert, which we also split for two.
We definitely will be returning to Stephi's.
Our server, Sara, was delightful and very helpful. The food was delicious and the portions very large.
Stopped in for a quick brunch and was glad I did.. was dining solo and Sean did a great job of making me feel as if I had stumbled into a friends dining room to eat. The food was fresh, hot and just the comfort I was looking for to hit the spot. I can't wait to return as there dinner menu looks amazing. I would recommend a reservation and Katie the General Manager will welcome you as she did me with arms wide open!
Lots of good menu options. Great service. Tasty cocktails. Enjoyed it on a Friday night.
Food was excellent, service excellent, will definitely return to this restaurant.
Went with 3 friends before seeing a play at Calderwood. All of us raved about all the food--3 fish entrees (haddock, salmon, branzino) with excellent sides, also sweet potato gnocchi. Unusual tastes & combinations that sang to us. Excellent service. Busy but not so loud that couldn't hear each other.
Always a classic, comfy atmosphere and a solid menu. The food choices are not huge but the food gets the job done. Reasonable prices and consistency work in my book .
Loved everything about Stephi's. Great food and service.
Somehow, though, my Open Table reservation had vanished off their system. Nobody could figure it out, but they went above and beyond to accommodate us, giving us a primo booth with the windows wide open to a perfect spring day.
Lovely experience and perfect spring brunch!
