I have never been so disappointed with any restaurant experience in my life. Our reservation was for 5 pm. We were parking in front of the restaurant prior to our theater night and got a phone call from the restaurant that they were closing and were out of food so sorry they were canceling our reservation. Really? I was right there and the bar and restaurant were packed! If you knew you were closing the doors the next day then don’t take reservations and let me plan appropriately. Very very unhappy!

Went for Sunday brunch. Only two waitresses for whole place so service was very slow. Seating, ordering very slow. Had to ask repeatedly for utensils, coffee. Food was very greasy. Would never return.

I live in the south end and usually love Stephi’s. But this time, we ordered cold food and it took 38 minutes to come out. The waitress did not check in during that time or apologize for/address our concerns of the delay. Also, we ordered the steak frites after that and the meat came out luke warm. Very disappointing. Will not return :/

I like Stephi's. I really do, but I don't like having to wait a half hour for a drink. Granted, this was on a Saturday night at 6:30 but when you're paying $15 for a cocktail the service just needs to be better. A very weak apology was made but nothing beyond that. We had to ask for the scrumptious garlic bread and that didn't come until nearly the end of the meal. The last time we were here the bread came out right after we ordered our drinks. The food tends to be very good and sometimes excellent. My advice would be to go on a weeknight or very early or very late. I sincerely hope Stephi's will hire another bartender and some more service staff in general on the weekends. I will go back, but not on a weekend!

I believe this restaurant is closing this Spring which might have been why this experience was so sub-par. Even though our reservation was fairly early for a Sunday, the service was terrible and every table around us, even those who were sat and ordered after us received their food before we did. The "house made" stick bun was dry and lacked any flavor, my scrambled eggs were cold and over-cooked and my bacon was 90% fat and wasn't cooked enough. For the price point, there are FAR better options in the neighborhood. The cold food that lacked in quality coupled with poor service imbued an overarching sentiment of indifference.

I've been to this restaurant many many times but this experience was not a good one! It had been a while since I was there! I had 7:30 reservations they seated us at 7:55 and there were several empty tables, as many people left around 7:30 or so... The service once we sat down was slow,d it took a very long time to get our drinks. Once the food came it was fine but not anything special. Food was just ok nothing really outstanding. It all looked a bit like a slop. I will not be going back.

While portions where huge, seemed most dishes were heavily salted. I’m a huge fan of skirt steak and short ribs. Unfortunately, both meats were over cooked. The short ribs were the most disappointing since one expects the meat to fall off the bones and melt in your mouth and little use of a knife. Not the case here with portions near the ends of the ribs so over cooked that it was a challenge to get the fork into the meat. Maybe just an off night.

Have been to Stephi's on Tremont numerous times. Brought some friends with us this time and was, well, embarrassed to do so.... The ultimate problem was our waitress. She couldn't be found most of our meal. When we receive an extremely horrible dish "pimento grilled cheese" that seemed to be made with a sweet-ish bread, none of us could eat it as it was so bad. The fries were cold as well - assumably the dish had been sitting in the kitchen for a while. We were going to suck it up and just order another dish altogether and not mention we didn't like the first one (so we would pay for both) but waited over 15 minutes for our server and even then, had to ask the host to find her. Apparently she had friends in the corner of the bar (away from the door) with whom she was "hanging". At that point, we were annoyed and voiced the problems with the dish (the server DID take it off our bill which was appreciated). When we finally got the replacement dish, everyone else was done with their meals, which was awkward. Our server's absence happened a few more times when we needed more beverages (the place would have made a LOT more $$ on alcohol if we could have ordered it). Additionally, we ordered a dessert (Boston Cream Pie) and then waited another 5 minutes for her to let us know they were out of it (would have been great to know this before we ordered). Additionally, a turkey salad I've ordered there for years and years didn't have all the ingredients it usually does (avocado), which was disappointing.

We had a reservation 2 hours and 15 minutes before a show and had to run to the theater in order not to be late. Service was slow (there was a large gap between appetizers and dinner) but the food was excellent. Also, we made reservations months in advance and somehow ended up crammed at a 2 top in the bar although we were a party of three.

Valentine’s Day dinner. Enjoyed the place as usual. Wasn’t a huge fan of the cheese stuffing in my meatloaf but otherwise it was AMAZING. Great drinks, service, food, always a favorite. Also I don’t normally like tables of two lined up like they do but we actually had enough space so don’t change that. I’ll be back!

We arrived and our table was ready. Server took our drink orders and then food orders. Drinks were well constructed and delicious. Appetizer arrived along with first courses and our table became too small. Food was excellent. Main courses arrived and were also delicious. Caramelized Apple bread pudding was the best surprise of the meal and should not be missed. Fabulous, decedent finish to the event before running off to the nearby theater. Bit of a wait to get the check, but we made it out on time to reach our seats before the lights went down.

Stephi's convenient location was just what we needed. The service was average and my Caesar salad with grilled shrimp was decent, although the dressing did not appear to be a traditional Caesar. Four shrimp on a $12 salad seemed a bit skimpy.

Our server was excellent, except that it took a while for someone to pick up the payment. Caesar salad was fantastic and entrees were good and satisfying -- not phenomenal, but tasty and good. The restaurant is noisy/loud, which bothered my companion. I'd return, not sure my friend would.

Great server, that’s sooo important. Was attentive but not overbearing. The wine was terrific, The food was reasonably good. But most importantly the atmosphere was excellent and they left us alone to chat for two hours. It was a relaxed environment comfortable and reasonably priced. I had the meatloaf which I had never had that before and it was sheer comfort food. My friends were very happy with their entrées as well.

We went on a Saturday night pre-theater. Cod was well prepared though a touch salty. Chicken pot pie was tasty with surprise of mashed potatoes at the bottom. Both were good value. Service was professional.
