Food was good. Service was excellent.
The ambiance was nice. The restaurant has plenty of seating available. Parking in the area is challenging. Brunch was ok. There was nothing special or fancy about the food, though. Waitresses were distracted and would take too long to come to the table. Doors facing the avenue were closed just because someone forgot to open them and I had to walk around the building to get to the other entrance. I asked for a spoon to stir the sugar and milk on my coffee and the waitress told me to use a knife because they didn’t have spoons. She said they don’t have many and were all in use. When I got there there were about 12 clients in total so if they don’t have enough spoons... When she saw I was shocked by her suggestion she offered to look for a disposable spoon. I later asked another waitress who gave me a small coffee spoon from the coffee machine area. We ordered omelettes and belgian waffles to share. The waffles were never brought to the table. We had to wait about an hour after the waitress went to get our check. We were talking and catching up so we were not that worried but later on we had to ask another waitress to get our check because the girl serving us was MIA.
I think this place is great! This was my first time having brunch there and I decided to take my Mum and Stepdad for their birthdays. The only qualms I had about this visit was that they didn't serve spoons with the coffee, and when my Mum asked if her western omelet came with home fries the server said said yes, I believe so. Well, it didn't, and we were charged and were never told. Will still go back but was disappointed.
I made reservations for 7 people at a standard table. Arrived on time and was seated at a table for 6 high top. I was told by the host that I hadn't selected "high table" or "standard." That isn't true, Opentable won't allow you to move past that spot without selecting. We were seated in the bar area (bench on one side) 3 chairs on the other. The 4th person was scrunched at the corner since 4 had to sit on that side. I was told it was seating for 7, but the host, upon seating us, told us we could use an extra chair. Mind you, it wouldn't have fit on the end. When selecting wine (2 bottles) we were told they only had 1 bottle of that kind (huh?). We selected another bottle (yet asked for 2 bottles). Same story - they only had 1. So we decided to start with it. The waiter mangled the bottle. The cork broke, so had to painfully watch that bottle opened. Food was good, but the tuna tartare isn't presented as nicely as it used to be. I used to love this place. I know it isn't the spot it once was since some of newer restaurants in the neighborhood came in. I'd like to go again as the food is good. But service was a mess.
Phenomenal brunch menu (especially the lobster benny) along with the value of bottle service for Mimosa's... On the regular menu, the steak tips, hamburger, chicken pot pie, haddock and meatloaf are all above average... also get a mac and cheese to split.
Across from T station which is valuable because parking is near impossible. Service can be uneven as can special requests on preparation or menu substitutions.
When we sat down, we were approached by the waitress Nathaly. She was the most dis-interested servers I have ever seen in my life. When I asked about some food item, she was intentionally looking at the tv and and replied in a cold voice “everything you need is in the menu”. She never greeted us, never asked if we have questions about the menu, never asked how the food, and was out of sight the entire time, to the point that after we were done, we had to walk up to the entrance for her to notice that we are done. She gave us the check without even saying thank you. I don’t care what made her like this, but I’m sure that I didn’t go to a charity meal place. How on earth was she hired? How is she still on the job?! This gives an indicator that that the management and rest of staff aren’t very different. Terrible experience. Will never go back.
Awful service. Took 20 minutes for waiter to show up, and another 15 to get drinks. They also messed up our order.
Poor draught beer selection and the bartender wasn’t very friendly.... otherwise it was good
We had an absolutely awful experience here on a Friday night. It started when our watress walked away from the table without taking one person's order. We had to call the manager over to order his entree. Terrible service continued when our empty appetizer platters and empty drinks sat in front of us for 15 minutes while the waitress walked past our table multiple times. Once again we had to call the manager over to get service. To rub salt in the wound, those drinks took 20 minutes to come because "they were entered on the wrong computer". Finally, when the food came, the chicken sandwich had the smallest, saddest piece of chicken on it. In the end, the manager came over and apologized, and comped a bunch of things which made us happy, but we're not likely to return here anytime soon.
Terrible service which is odd for them, maybe just a one off
We live near Stephi’s and dine there on average once a week. The food and service are consistently outstanding,
Nice spot for brunch. Be sure to make a reservation and request a table by the window.
The food is usually really good at Stephi's and while i enjoyed my meal, the service was incredibly slow. Granted, it was a busy Sunday brunch, but it took forever to order coffee let alone the actual meal. Our server was very nice but I do not think that I will be returning for brunch there anytime soon.
Slow service this is the second time the service is lacking experience and it takes for ever to get them over to get anything
Always good food and service
Service was slow not much communication. Food is always good here. I will go back.
Absolutely delicious!
I love coming to Stephis in Southie for lunch with colleagues. It's close to the Broadway T and a short walk from the South End where I live. The service is fast and attentive and there's no wait to be seated during the week . The lunch menu works for varied diets and tastes.
The waitress did her best considering they were clearly understafffed.
Food is consistently good. Waitstaff is great! Ver reasonably priced wine and drinks!
Unfortunately, the eggs benny I had was overcooked, with a hard yolk and a burnt english muffin that I couldn't even cut with a knife. Not a good experience
We enjoyed Christmas Eve brunch at Stephi's in Southie. The food was plentiful and delicious. The service was fine. Overall, a great dining experience.
Good ambiance and service, however the food was lacking. Tasted like it was frozen and they just put it in the microwave.
I expected more from this place. My open faced turkey sandwich looked and tasted like it had been under a heat lamp for an hour before being brought to me. Service was just eh. Cocktail looked better on paper and was not worth the price. Not a fan.
I came here for brunch last Sunday morning. The brunch selections were great, it was really hard to choose! I ended up getting the arepa and it was incredible. Everyone I went with enjoyed their plates, I can't wait to go back!
As always Stephie’s offered delicious food and a lovely ambience but our server either just started today or has no interest in her job duties. Waiting tables is clearly not the profession for her. Such a shame that we had to pry her name out of her and she really only came around to take our order and bring our drinks (when she remembered to bring them) and would literally disappear. When we needed anything additional, we literally had to flag down a busboy or other staff member to get anything beyond that. Service was extremely slow, which is more of a problem for the restaurant and not us as we didn’t have any pressing reason to leave in a hurry, but had she done her job more efficiently our brunch could have ended at least a half hour sooner and she would made more money for the restaurant and herself...Maybe it was just an off day but our waitress was not on top of her game this visit...Very unusual for this restaurant because we usually get great service.
This is for a Saturday night dinner experience. Unfortunately, Stephi's was a letdown and I wouldn't return. Upon arriving, there was no host and we waited for 5 minutes for a waitress to check us in. When seated, we waited again for another 15 minutes to be asked for our order. It was not busy at all at 8:30pm. Water arrived quickly though. Our appetizers arrived before our drinks, which sat at the bar unattended close to us the entire time. We ordered another drink in the middle of our main course, which arrived as we took our last bite. My husband even walked to the bar to pick up his own beer, but was brushed off with "the waitress will bring it" from the bartender. Well, she brought it 10 minutes later and we didn't want it any more by then. Food was decent, nothing to rave about. To top it off, the waitress who checked us in didn't check off the Open Table reservation, so I got a no-show email from Open Table. We missed nothing the last years not going to Stephi's - sadly. Paramount is a much better option for a casual dinner in my opinion.
The food was incredible but the service was very poor not a place for a romantic date load music people screaming
I️ got the steak tips and it definitely wasn’t worth $21. There were four VERY small steak tips and even after having oysters for an app, I was still starving.
Absolutely horrible service. Selected this place for a birthday gathering and could not have been more disappointed.
Birthday was lit.
Food was delicious! Service was poor. When we did see her she was rude and seemed like she couldn't be bothered. We ordered a 45$ barrel and it leaked, we brought it to her attention and she laughed and said she'll check with the manager to make and nature he others work... at the end of our visit she was no where to be found. The manager brought over our bill after I got up and asked the bartender for it. Food is expensive but good! Drinks are also way too much for the quality. Imy in the industry as well and I would expect to taste the booze for 45$ and not lose half a drink out of the spout. 17$ for a makers mark Manhattan that tastes like straight up vermouth is outrageous. We left and thought our server just got busy, but no she was sitting at the other end of the restaurant on her phone.... great.... I don't remember her name, but she had a beautiful accent, it's a shame she didn't have the personality to match or she would have gotten a great tip.
I tend to go here very frequently and after today I might reconsider. I placed my order and it they missed somethings the waitress didn’t return until 22 minuta later and by then we were almost done eating. When she arrived with the fries that were missing it had made it to ONE hour of no parmesan fries, I believe she never placed order and restaurant was not full and at times she was seen sitting! When we asked for the bill it took 15 minutes and she never returned to collect the credit card we flagged down the manager who was standing in the corridor and had him authorize meal ticket. After about another 15 minutes waitress returned and took the bill and didn’t acknowledge our existence and walked away. Recap, food was over cooked and dry!, poor service and could have honestly had better food and service at a drive through very disappointed for a birthday dinner!
Food was great. Was surprised to find out it was in a bar but it was fine. The only negative is there isn't any parking and it sits on a corner. We had to park a few blocks away and walk but not a big deal.
We were celebrating our anniversary in Boston. We were told that all Stephanie’s restaurants were a chain so we made a reservation for dinner. When we got there and looked at
The menu we knew this isn’t
The place we wanted to eat. We
Just ordered drinks and left. This was more of a sports bar. Very loud. We did not get a chance to eat but as far as the drinks go it was the worst Cosmopolitan that I have ever had.
Appetizers were very good. Main entrees were average. Server was ok but forgot important details like silverware and napkins and the drink refills were few and far between. It wasn’t very busy so it was surprising. The manager however it was great.
The server took a very long time to check on us and the music was loud. The food was very good.
Service sucked
Perfectly fine. Got pretty noisy when the game came on.
A bit much for a family dinner.
