Food was of low quality and taste for such a high profile restaurant in Boston
Service was extremely fast we were in and out of there quickly
yummy comfort food, easily accessible right on newbury.
The food was excellent the French toast was to die for, great experience, but it is very pricey.
Good food, very nice ambiance and attentive wait staff.
It was my husband's birthday which I noted when making the reservation. There was no acknowledgement of the event. We were seated late. Service was so so. There was no water refill without asking. I won't be going back.
Service was great and so was the food.
Great time and our server, she was very friendly!
Very pleasant place. I liked that my friend and I could chat and we weren't competing with loud noise.
Ordered the meatloaf and the open face turkey sandwich for entrees and they did not disappoint. For desert the caramel apple bread pudding was amazing. Definitely going back again.
My husband and I had reservations there Saturday night to celebrate my birthday. When making the reservations we indicated that we were celebrating a birthday - not sure why they ask as it really didn't mean anything to them. We got there about 5 minutes before our scheduled reservation and were told it would just be a few minutes for our table. We waited less than 5 minutes and were shown to our table for 2 - right by the door in the middle of 2 other tables of 2. I feel like couples are almost discriminated against and get the worst tables. I asked for a different table and we were shown to another row of table with the end table open . We took it. It was a better option but I could still tell you what the couple to our left discussed all night because it was so loud in there that everyone had to yell. Our server Connie was quick to come over and take our drink order. She did a great job throughout the meal. We ordered 2 appetizers and our main meals. I had the meatloaf which was wonderful and my husband had a ceasar salad. My real complaint is that I felt like I was speed eating. Here we were out for a leisurely meal to celebrate and within 40 minutes we were done with our meal.
There were only two things about my experience that could have been better. The waiter did not bring over any bread or even asked if we wanted some but the tables around us all got it - not a big deal but it would have been nice to have the option offered to us. The other part was our signature cocktails (that have rosemary) only tasted of rosemary and were hard to drink. The menu advertised them of having some rosemary but we didn’t expect the drinks to be so strong. Other than that the food was delicious and the setting is very appealing
Amazing staff, they were very helpful with the questions i had. It was my first time going and will definitely go back soon. Just make sure you have reservations for the weekend brunch. We overheard the host telling people 2.5 hour waits without reservations.
Not worth the price. Terrible value.
I met a friend for lunch and it was the perfect place to catch-up. We had a cozy table tucked in a corner so we could talk comfortably. The host and table server made us feel welcomed and anticipated our needs but we never felt intruded upon. We each had a great salad. My friend enjoyed the Cobb salad and I had the roasted turkey salad. Both were nicely prepared and very satisfying. Stephanie's is a timeless classic in the Back Bay.
We scored a cozy, corner table for two for sunday brunch at 12:30. The food was delicious and plentiful. The service provider was great Not too noisy.
we liked the service, atmosphere, location and food selection for brunch
Awesome upscale comfort food place. It is an upscale mix of a diner and an classic American restaurant. Great food with large portions and good drinks. A must try is the lobster guacamole. The red velvet pancakes are great and my son had a steak sandwich which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Definitely going back!
Had a great time and the food was great! Warm atmosphere, great service, would go again!
Food wad very good. Service was mediocre, Restaurant was very noisy. Hard to carry on a conversation.
Only took away one star because we were seated in the back room of the restaurant which I had never been in. Feels isolated from the rest of the place and not the same ambiance. Also there was one large group seated there then just us for most of the time which felt like we were crashing someone’s party. Food and service were excellent!
Delicious brunch! Portions were quite generous... we could have split our order! Great place.
Wonderful comfort food! On a cold Boston evening, Mom's chicken soup and a delicious meatloaf and chicken pot pie hit the spot. Plus a few interesting handcrafted and original cocktails to warm us up.
We were in Boston for the night. Stephanie's on Newbury was recommended by our hotel concierge (Westin Copley Place). We loved it - husband and three teen aged daughters. Food was amazing. Our server, Connie, was fabulous. We would definitely return on our next trip to Boston.
Great, took a bunch of teenagers to celebrate my daughters birthday and they loved the menu!
Our second time at Stephanie’s and sadly it paled in comparison to our first.
Seated quickly, but our waitress had no personality, didn’t engage with us and her timing was just off. Had to ask for drinks, bread. Food was fine - I was unhappy with what I ordered, less of a fault of Stephanie’s but my own.
Restaurant is WARM. Noticed this both times. To the point of being uncomfortable. We ate as quickly as we could and left as soon as possible (skipped dessert, sadly!) because the heat was too high.
Did a nice job with a birthday brunch. A bit noisy for my liking but really great portion sizes and accommodated my larger(6' +) family members well despite a packed restaurant.
We have been to Stephanie's a number of times while on our visits to Boston. We go for their incredible hamburgers and heaping plates of onion rings and french fries. We know, we know, not exactly health food. We were very disappointed to go for a Saturday lunch with a 12:30 pm reservation and to find out it was a brunch menu without the burgers, etc. The food was good, but offering a brunch menu for Saturday lunch will keep us away from Stephanie's on future visits to Boston which are almost always on weekends.
Be sure to make a reservation because Stephanie's is very popular because it's very good and fun and cool!
Great clam chowder and grilled cheese oozing with flavour!
