ONCE THE HIPPEST PLACE IN THE BACK BAY HAS NOW SLOWLY BECOME SLEEPY AND MEDIOCRE, ITS LOST THE BUZZ IT HAD IN THE 2000'S AS THE HIP TRENDY CROWD HAS MOVED ON TO THE SEAPORT AND SOUTH END. STILL A GREAT PLACE FOR A SALAD AND COMFORT FOOD. THE BAR IS STILL FUN FOR QUIET CONVERSATION, BUT NO LONGER PULLS IN THE ATTRACTIVE SINGLE 20 SOMETHINGS
BIG PRICE AND OBNOXIOUS METER MAIDS HAVE SCARED AWAY THE OUTH FROM NEWBURY STREET AND THE EMERGENCE OF THE LOCAL BREW OUB SCENE AS FAR OUT TO MELROSE AND PATRIOT PLACE MAKE THE TRECK IN TOWN LESS AND LESS WORTH IT
Too noisy and crowded. Food was just average.
Great food. Great atmosphere. One of my favorite places.
Waited 30 minutes to be seated after scheduled reservation time – plus slow food service thereafter. Not worth it.
We have eaten at Stephanie's before for lunch. This time we had brunch. Lunch was good, but brunch was delish! We had the crab cake benedict, steak salad and ahi tuna. All were great! I had a mimosa that was very good. They offer a clipboard menu to check off any ingredient you could possibly want in your Bloody Mary. So fun! I think I'll try that next time. Make a reservation if you come on the weekend.
Loved the lobster guacamole! We sat upstairs which was good since it was very crowded and noisy. Service was good but very slow in the beginning. We liked the option to pick your own Bloody Mary items. Definitely make a reservation when dining here for brunch on a weekend.
Birthday weekend trip to Boston
Overall good but not great
We celebrated a belated anniversary, and found our first visit to Stephanies to be quite enjoyable. We didn't feel rushed by the waitress. I had the lamb Osso Bucco and my wife had the Scallops on Risotto; both were delicious (we shared). A shared half-bottled of chianti (well described by our waitress as far as dryness/sweetness) made the evening an event.
I was surprised at the quality of the food. It was not hot, it was subpar to what I remember. I would say even bland. The meal seemed rushed! Hadn't finished the soup before the main course came out. There was a feeling of let's get them in and get them out.
Cute eatery that we tried for breakfast. Interesting choices included red velvet pancakes, which my son devoured. I had eggs Benedict and wife had the egg white frittata. A lot of food for my wife, but very delicious. The service was attentive and I found the value to be fair. I recommend and would return.
Overpriced and underwhelming! If you're looking for a brunch that won't break the bank, look elsewhere. The staff is friendly, and the ambience is good, but the dishes, almost all of which are $16 and over, is not worth the price.
Great experience! Good brunch option!
Went with our kids to meet up with friends who have no kids. Everyone loved it! The onion ring tower is awesome and looks great, the lobster guacamole was delicious, as was the seared tuna salad. The cocktails were fabulous! They have a kids' menu also. Space was large ad pretty, and it was full and boisterous. I highly recommend.
food was meh. honestly the same dishes at the Stephi’s on Tremont were better.
We ran by Stephanie’s for a quick lunch and it was wonderful, as always. The kids loved their mini-burgers, my husband really liked his Reuben, and my ahi tuna burger was very tasty (if a bit salty). The accompanying Asian slaw was really yummy, and my daughter is now addicted to Stephanie’s fries! The service was friendly and attentive; we never wanted for anything. We can’t wait to go back!
Poor quality and unimaginative food
Food was of low quality and taste for such a high profile restaurant in Boston
Service was extremely fast we were in and out of there quickly
yummy comfort food, easily accessible right on newbury.
The food was excellent the French toast was to die for, great experience, but it is very pricey.
Good food, very nice ambiance and attentive wait staff.
It was my husband's birthday which I noted when making the reservation. There was no acknowledgement of the event. We were seated late. Service was so so. There was no water refill without asking. I won't be going back.
Service was great and so was the food.
Great time and our server, she was very friendly!
Very pleasant place. I liked that my friend and I could chat and we weren't competing with loud noise.
Ordered the meatloaf and the open face turkey sandwich for entrees and they did not disappoint. For desert the caramel apple bread pudding was amazing. Definitely going back again.
My husband and I had reservations there Saturday night to celebrate my birthday. When making the reservations we indicated that we were celebrating a birthday - not sure why they ask as it really didn't mean anything to them. We got there about 5 minutes before our scheduled reservation and were told it would just be a few minutes for our table. We waited less than 5 minutes and were shown to our table for 2 - right by the door in the middle of 2 other tables of 2. I feel like couples are almost discriminated against and get the worst tables. I asked for a different table and we were shown to another row of table with the end table open . We took it. It was a better option but I could still tell you what the couple to our left discussed all night because it was so loud in there that everyone had to yell. Our server Connie was quick to come over and take our drink order. She did a great job throughout the meal. We ordered 2 appetizers and our main meals. I had the meatloaf which was wonderful and my husband had a ceasar salad. My real complaint is that I felt like I was speed eating. Here we were out for a leisurely meal to celebrate and within 40 minutes we were done with our meal.
There were only two things about my experience that could have been better. The waiter did not bring over any bread or even asked if we wanted some but the tables around us all got it - not a big deal but it would have been nice to have the option offered to us. The other part was our signature cocktails (that have rosemary) only tasted of rosemary and were hard to drink. The menu advertised them of having some rosemary but we didn’t expect the drinks to be so strong. Other than that the food was delicious and the setting is very appealing
Amazing staff, they were very helpful with the questions i had. It was my first time going and will definitely go back soon. Just make sure you have reservations for the weekend brunch. We overheard the host telling people 2.5 hour waits without reservations.
Not worth the price. Terrible value.
I met a friend for lunch and it was the perfect place to catch-up. We had a cozy table tucked in a corner so we could talk comfortably. The host and table server made us feel welcomed and anticipated our needs but we never felt intruded upon. We each had a great salad. My friend enjoyed the Cobb salad and I had the roasted turkey salad. Both were nicely prepared and very satisfying. Stephanie's is a timeless classic in the Back Bay.
We scored a cozy, corner table for two for sunday brunch at 12:30. The food was delicious and plentiful. The service provider was great Not too noisy.
Awesome upscale comfort food place. It is an upscale mix of a diner and an classic American restaurant. Great food with large portions and good drinks. A must try is the lobster guacamole. The red velvet pancakes are great and my son had a steak sandwich which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Definitely going back!
we liked the service, atmosphere, location and food selection for brunch
Had a great time and the food was great! Warm atmosphere, great service, would go again!
Food wad very good. Service was mediocre, Restaurant was very noisy. Hard to carry on a conversation.
Only took away one star because we were seated in the back room of the restaurant which I had never been in. Feels isolated from the rest of the place and not the same ambiance. Also there was one large group seated there then just us for most of the time which felt like we were crashing someone’s party. Food and service were excellent!
Delicious brunch! Portions were quite generous... we could have split our order! Great place.
