Connie and Juan, such a delight... wonderful service, meal and very knowledgeable about wine selections, helpful in making our dining experience memorable. One small thing, the air conditioning was above us, causing the hot, comfort food to turn cold pretty quickly - I wish all restaurants would turn the AC down a notch as we kept our scarves on. Overall, Stephanie’s still remains my long-time favourites! I admire the new decor, a lovely, refreshing change from the traditional - I do miss the cosy fireplace. The sense of privacy between booths is great!
It was perfect timing, the food was filling, fresh and delicious, and the service was friendly and quick!
Stephanie's is always great for either brunch, business lunches or dinner. But this time I waited 20 min+ to get seated for a brunch-reservation for 4 people. Was told in door to go wait at bar (no seats, crowded) and that they would text me when my table opened up.
A) I expect my table to be ready when I have made a reservation (otherwise, what's the point?). I'm ok with waiting little, but not +20 min.
B) if it is going to be 20 Minutes, tell me to go wait at the bar and provide coffee or similar if there's room or ask me if ok to come back in 20 min.
Food was great and our service at the table the usual high standard. Service at door/coordination sub-par to my other experiences at Stephanie's
Go for their Bloody Mary and forget their food!
Good food. Reasonable prices. Great services. Would go back!
The food was delicious. The service was attentive and appropriate. This was a get together with my daughters, both live in Massachusetts and I live in Connecticut. Everything was good from check in to dessert. A wonderful experience. I would recommend.
Stephanie's has not disappointed yet. I have been here many times for lunch, brunch and dinner over the years. For this last visit, we were seated promptly and the service was excellent. We had ordered a bottle of wine and did not feel rushed at all during the meal. The atmosphere is noisier during the day in the dining room, but you are still able to have a good conversation without shouting. During nice weather, the outdoor seating and location can't be beat. For a cold December weekend day- it is great for lunch or brunch, and both menus are offered.
Best food for breakfast in Newbury. Worth every penny.
We have been meaning to try Stephanie's for a long time. We were thrilled to get a reservation on a Friday evening. The food was awesome. Portions - good size and the service great.
I look forward to return visit.
Date lunch with my husband....nice wine, good advice on food, nice holiday buzz. Really liked it.
Love the ambiance! The staff provided great customer service and the food was fresh. Great location for brunch!
The chicken pot pie is awesome!
My friend and I have a particular dish at Stephanie's that we're very fond of, which is only available in the winter, and is on the lunch and dinner menus; in the past we'd made a tradition of going the day after Thanksgiving to enjoy this dish. We made a point of scheduling a visit at a time when we'd be able to order off the lunch menu; we checked the website to make sure, before booking the reservation, that we were in the right time-window for the lunch menu on the day of the week we were going. When we got there, we found that because it was the day after Thanksgiving, they were having brunch all day, and we wouldn't be able to order off either the lunch or dinner menus, and wouldn't be able to order what we'd come to have.
We wound up ordering off the brunch menu, and it was nice enough, I suppose. But it wasn't particularly remarkable, and certainly not sufficiently good to make up for the very high price. And we certainly wouldn't have traveled downtown for it; we could have had better for less in a nicer ambience in the 'burbs. And it was irritating that the website was not updated to reflect what the restaurant was doing.
I suppose in the future I could call to find out – perhaps the front will know, perhaps it will not, but regardless, given how busy the place is, I expect that would involve a tedious wait on hold. Alternatively I could just give up on going to Stephanie's. That's looking more likely.
While the food was fine and the service was quite good, I'm rating the overall dining experience merely two stars because as far as I am concerned, my dining experience begins when my dining companion and I review multiple restaurants' menus, and pick where we'd like to eat on the basis of what we'd like to eat, and then go there. Showing up and finding that the restaurant we'd traveled to wasn't prepared to serve us what they'd advertised to us does not a pleasant experience make.
My husband and I went to Boston for the first time and the hotel recommended Stephanie's. We made a reservation and when we arrived 15 minutes early and they sat us right away. Food and service was excellent.
Terrific late morning breakfast. Top notch friendly service. Easy walk from back bay hotels v
I have been to Stephanie’s before and had great experiences. However, this time, my french toast was really undercooked, and I will probably not be back for a while because of this.
Great service. Our server was excellent, very attentive and knowledgable. The host was also very welcoming and helpful.
I took a group there for a conference meeting at the Hynes convention center. It was close and the ambiance was fantastic. I had a great time! I would highly recommend it.
Lovely setting, great food!
Stephanies is a great go-to place anytime. Always enjoyable, great selection and the staff are very courteous. Never been disappointed.
We very much enjoy the menu at Stephanie and find the quality of the food to be consistently good. The evening we were there was a Friday and the noise level was a little too high for complete relaxation, but overall it was a good meal and a pleasant experience.
Great comfort food, and the service was excellent! It was a perfect place!
The restaurant was busy and very noisey. The wait staff was too busy to be attentive. We are asked if we wanted a refill on our drinks once our food was gone. Would not go back - nothing specials other than the negroni!
We got seated right away. Food was perfect everything was made exactly to order. Couldn’t ask for a better brunch spot!
Great brunch...in and out quickly
Delicious meal! Meatloaf was definitely a specialty as was chicken pot pie. Definitely comfort food. Caesar salad was mild but good. Martini was excellent too.
A selection of comfort food'esque entrees with an upscale twist. This place has a real city feel and it fits a number of dining occasions.
Disappointing - don't order the lobster guacamole or the quesadillas.
Very noisy and stuffed, tables were too close to each other for any private or business discussion, we asked for a more detached table and they placed us beside the kitchen in a very tiny table where waiters were buzzing around all the time, not recommended for any business meeting
Crab cake eggs Benedict was delicious as was the monkey bread! Great Service!
Scallops were delicious and same for the risotto. Mmmmmmm
Stephanie's was a real treat! We were visiting from out of state and had a party of 7 for breakfast on a Saturday. Bloody Marys are made to order with so many options and delicious! French toast was SO good! Everyone in our party was happy with their food. This is definitely a "splurge" kind of breakfast for us but it was worth it and memorable!
Excellent food, fun environment, friendly wait staff. Always a good time.
Overpriced food. Bad service had to literally look for someone and call again and again to take orders because apparently they forget to assign a server after seating. I ordered burger without bacon and yeah it came with bacon and when I wanted to change I had to wait for like 15min before anyone to listen.
This is a great place to sit outside if the weather is nice. Inside is more intimate; great dinner! We waited quite a while for the waiter to come over and get our drink order which we weren’t too happy with. Other than that, things were nice. It was a very relaxed evening.
It was my second time here and for the second time I was impressed! The food and service here are excellent and I would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
Quesadilla appetizer was excellent but we were disappointed with the lobster guacamole. The cold corn with the guacamole was a distraction (not good!) and the puffy chips were greasy. Probably wouldn't order it again. Drinks were good.
Great relaxed but upscale atmosphere on Newbury St. But ... $20 for a glass of everyday white wine - ouch
It was my mom’s birthday and they gave free dessert on the house! Will definitely be back soon.
