Ate outside during COVID-19 and staff did everything they could to accommodate us safely, which I really appreciate. Would give 5 stars overall, but bar did not have top shelf spirit my friend wanted, leading us to go to a different place for drinks afterward. Excellent food but I think a little overpriced.
This was the most unpleasant of dining experiences. I had been once before and sat on the patio. Great experience. Now, Stephanie's has set up tables on Newbury Street with metal police barricades. Unlike their neighbors who have screened the tables with plants and nice wood walls, here you just get a barricade. The restaurant is on the corner, so you inhale fumes and feel the heat of cars as they wait for the light. They also speed by at 45 MPH when the light is green. Directly adjacent to my table was an overflowing City of Boston trash can which smelled horrible. I know restaurants are suffering, but the owners of this restaurant are too cheap for words and care nothing about the dining experience. They should take a look at Lolita or Piattini right down the street and see what others have done.
Disappointed with turkey sandwich. The last time we ordered it was outstanding... I didn’t let server know til end... service supreme!
Great as usual.
However we were upset about the PPE surcharge of $2 per person. Seems like this could have been handled by bumping the meal costs up rather than calling it out. We were tempted to decrease the tip by a corresponding amount, but didn’t.
It took a while to be seated even though I had a reservation. However, the food was great (recommend ordering the steak tips during brunch) and the waiter was very attentive.
The prices are high and the quality was just ok.
Stephanie's never disappoints. It is a great place for Sunday brunch!
We were seated at our reservation time and waited for 20 minutes, not one staff member came to our table so we got up and left.
The dramatic difference in the quality of my meal over a two-week period was very disappointing. Two weeks earlier I had gotten the cedar plank salmon with roasted beets and potatoes and it was outstanding. This time is was just plain gross. The potatoes and beets were thrown together and it appeared as if a sugary concoction had been poured all over them. They were too sweet to eat. And the salmon was half cooked and haphazardly thrown on the plate. It's shocking how the restaurant went from an excellent dinner to the very worst.
I got the grilled skirt steak with frites, my steak had a long worm in it. The macaroni was alright could’ve had more flavor and the chicken wasn’t seasoned. But the waiter was extremely nice and accommodating. For food that’ll cost you 100$ at the end they should really do better. The steak really shouldn’t have had a worm in it.
It was fabulous! So looked forward to the patio and all was perfect. The service was amazing. We are returning in a week!
When we went the patio was very lively and, although they warned us about long waits at the bar, everything came out relatively quickly. The menu is small enough to not overwhelm but big enough to have something everyone. I ordered a burger and my gf got the fish and chips. Both were great! The fries are killer. Little on the pricier side.
Charge a 2 dollar fee per person to sanitize because of Covid
The food was very good. The service was good, except the server didn’t tell us about any “PPE” charges included. We also got a bottle of still water, but she brought us a second bottle without asking and indicating we’d be charged for it. Otherwise it was a good meal and we felt properly social-distanced.
Great location and very good service, but the food is just average.
Very nice outdoor seating area and the service was great.
Awesome and chic brunch spot! Absolutely loved the food, drinks, and atmosphere!!!
We ate outside and had a fabulous server named Anya. What a wonderful dinner!
Was excited to be back in Boston and have lunch at Stephanie’s. (Only been once before) The host person was less than friendly and almost seemed inconvenienced. We sat at a tiny table on the street, when other tables on the sidewalk were “socially” available.
Our server, Stephan, was friendly and nice. Ordered the lobster roll, of course. It was good, but I remember it being better. Took a few sips of my strawberry daiquiri and noticed there was a fly in it. When I took my drink to the unfriendly host and asked for a new drink, he looked at it, didn’t say anything apologetic and took it away. A nearby server commented “the hazards of outdoor dinning.” I can tell ya, there were no flies flying around our food or drink and that fly was at the bottom of my glass.
Anyway, I think we’ll be trying other establishments on our next visit. Our overall experience was lacking.
Great menu and the perfect spot when most things are shut down--or not!
Sat outside dining (due to COVID-19). While most tables were along sidewalk, ours was out in the street w/ cars right there. Celebrating special occasion so asked if could move. Said nothing else available. Sometimes I feel like OpenTable diners are seated in the worst locations.
Server was kind and attentive.
