Stephanie's On Newbury

Our family celebrated our daughter’s 21st birthday at Stephanie’s On Newbury. The food, service and ambience were all great. Fantastic place!
Stephanie's is alway consistently great! Food, atmosphere and service are all great. Does get a bit noisy, but that's because it's been a hot spot for many years and always gets a good crowd.
We did not know that Stephanie’s had come under new management. The entire menu had changed and was significantly smaller. Our waiter got two of our orders wrong and the food was mediocre. We were quite disappointed with our experience.
I had the burger which was tasty enough-hey, it’s a burger. My partner, however, ordered the salmon ala carte, with a side of broccoli rabe. The salmon portion should be cause for embarrassment on the chef’s part; an approximate 3 oz. sliver, plopped, ungarnished on a plate, accompanied by unseasoned, way over cooked veg.
I hadn’t dined at Stephanie’s in over 20 years and we won’t be returning any time soon.
Great place to meet for brunch! Definitely make a reservation, was packed. Had something for everyone, as my daughter has become Vegan. My husband loved his dish, which was eggs and feta in a yummy tomato sauce. My eggs and homefries covered in cheese were awesome. And they have a fab Bloody Mary menu so everyone can add in their favorites! Of course the location can’t be beat on Newbury Street. After brunch you can work off some of the weight by strolling and window shopping!
Thank you Leslie!
Our server took our order and then we never saw her again. Two other servers eventually took over shortly before we left and both made comments about our server being nonexistent. I had the Eggs Benedict. The eggs were perfectly cooked, but there was very little hollandaise sauce and it was flavorless. There was too much ham--at least for my taste. I like a bite with a little of every part of the dish, so ended up removing more than half of the ham. The eggs were served with home fries, which were cold and soggy. Everyone else at the table (there were five of us) said their food was just okay. It's too bad--I had been there a few times in the past (but probably five or so years ago) and enjoyed it, but not this time.
It was really good. We got pimento and the short rib soecial
Friendly and efficient staff. The dishes were unusual yet appealing and very tasty.
Thank you for your review!
You're basically guaranteed to get a good experience whenever you go here. From the moment you walk in to the time you receive your check everything is done at a higher level and with class. The staff is polite and the food comes out to you ridiculously fast. Get the bloody Mary and, yes, you should add bacon.
Post Xmas brunch. Hostess wasn’t very pleasant.
Fair ambiance and convenient locations however the prices are not worth the mediocre meal.
Excellent brunch. Best service.
Food was nothing special and way too expensive for what it was, waiter and service was fantastic though
New Year’s Day brunch - everything was really well done. Great food, excellent server, and a very positive and upbeat atmosphere. A very memorable experience for my family!
Slow kitchen and weak service... food not bad... But the value/price very negative...
Food was great as was service .. would go back!
Excellent food amazing sercvice
Food was good. Server attentive. We were put off that we had to ask for the dinner menu at 4:30. Not the waiters fault.
Brunch with daughter and her friend
Brunch service was slow and inaccurate while the food was overcooked and dry. Unlikely to come again.
Brick chicken must’ve gotten its name because it shares the same taste as a brick. Fairly certain it was served with a Christmas tree purée. Won’t be back.
We were surprised only items from the brunch menu were available in a Saturday at noon. Nevertheless, the food was great, as was the service. Highly recommend.
48 dollar for a small lobster Benedict that was gross but waste not want not
Reservation was for 4pm on a Friday with a 6 year old. Waited 17 minutes to be greeted after arriving ten minutes early for our reservation. Walked out and had a delicious dinner elsewhere. Will not be back.
Wonderful food!!! Waiter was consistent and pleasant!
Thank you for your review!
It was Christmas Eve but it was awful. Staff was slow and had no clue really. Maybe because it was Christmas Eve and the regular staff was off. But it was BAD. Food was not good. 4 out of 5 hated our meal. They brought bread to the table when we were almost done.
Very very disappointed.
Stephanie’s is a nice place to eat. The food is good, service is great and it is a lovely place.
lovely christmas brunch!
Prices are what you would expect on Newbury St, but portions are too large. My wife and I had brunch; $84.
Loved the food, bloody mary’s were fantastic. Enjoyed the Christmas music playing and the Decorations. Our waitperson was wonderful.
Thank you for visiting us, we are happy to hear you had a great time! Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday!
Best Mac n’ Cheese I have ever experienced!!! Thank You!
Thank you for visiting us, we are happy to hear you loved the mac n' cheese! Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday!
They ran out of everything and they were unapologetic. A terrible disappointment
Fantastic for dinner. Skip for Brunch.
We had a fantastic dinner there a few weeks prior so we decided to go for a Sunday brunch. It was a very different experience. Nothing out of the ordinary on the menu and overpriced for was is served.
We had a crab benedict with jalapeno hollandaise. It was 2 poached eggs over the tiniest crab cakes I have ever seen. They were served with fries that looked like they were scrapped from the bottom of a pan and a few lettuce leaves. $21
My wife ordered the salmon bagels with capers and tomatoes. Very good. $19
Again, this was a brunch I would expect from Friday's or Cheesecake Factory, not Stephanies.
Service was average and expeditive. As soon as the waiter removed our plates, she dropped the bill on the table without even asking if we wanted coffee (which we did) or dessert.
Total invoice for the 2 plates, 1 iced tea and 1 spiced rhum cocktail was $68 before tip.
Went from Brunch. Had omelet, okay. Coffee was good. One os tried the “monkey” bread which was quite good.
A group of us have had a holiday get-together here for a decade and Stephanie's never fails to please. Although the menu is less extensive than I remember in prior years, it's modern (fewer deep fried foods) and offers great choices - we really liked the "Pick a Main, Pick a sauce, and Pick an side" option. We'll keep coming.
Thank you for visiting us! We are very happy you enjoyed our new "Simply Grilled" options on the new menu. We hope to see you again soon!
The brunch choices and the drinks were awesome, some of the best bloody Mary's around!
Thank you for visiting us!
Brunch before the Nutcracker!
Thank you for your review!
Loved the food! Seating is a little tight. Service was excellent.
Thank you for visiting us!
I keep having high hopes for Stephanie's but am routinely disappointed by the quality of the food. My date's salad was bland and the eggplant parm, while tasty enough, was very small in portion. Onion rings were great. While I have tried this restaurant many times, the food is always a bit weak.
Thank you for your review, and I will pass your feedback about the food to our Culinary team.
given some of the negative reviews, I was concerned that one of my favorite places had gone down hill--but for a pre-show early dinner, it was great. I loved the menu--many choices for our diverse group. Everyone enjoyed their dinner and the upbeat atmosphere. I had the salmon, and the mussels for an app--everything was perfectly cooked and tasty. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, drinks and desserts. It was a bit pricey, but fine.
Thank you for your review, and we are so happy you enjoyed your time in the restaurant! We just introduced our new winter menu, and we are happy to hear your positive feedback!
