Stephanie's On Newbury

Service took so long... there was only a couple of tables not quite sure why it took so long to take our order. We got there hoping to still get brunch but unfortunately their brunch ends at 11:30am which is odd. Their lunch menu was pretty boring nothing special or seemed appetizing. The turkey club I ordered was okay... the bread was burned so it was hard to even chew it I picked everything out and ate what I could. Everyone else in my party was displeased with their food. Stephanie’s on Newbury is overrated it’s not what it used to be. Very dissatisfied will not be returning.
Such an iconic place to eat while shopping or browsing Newbury!
Honestly, the food was adequate, not terrific and the service was very spotty. In fairness to our waiter, I think he was assigned to service outside seating customers as well as our table inside, which was likely difficult. For long periods of time we could not find him.
We always live Stephanie’s for brunch. Everything here is delicious. It is rather loud so conversation can be difficult at times.
The food was uninspiring. My wide order a Greek Salad which Chicken. It cam without any lettuce and the chicken was prepared in advance and came from the cooler. I had a salad with shirt steak. I had no taste. Even thought it was not very busy, the waiter ignored us.
Waitress Sienna was awesome..calamari had more peppers than calamari.
service was great, really kid friendly and food was tasty
Great food and service by the waiter who served us this past Friday evening. However the host was unsmiling and unwelcoming. It was absolutely clear he couldn't have cared less about any of the patrons. We noticed he treated everyone arriving at the restaurant with the same type of attitude. It left a terrible impression.
Not sure what has happened to Stephanie's but we will no longer be going to one of our "go to" places in the Back Bay. All six of us agreed the food was horrible. We had heard rumors but wanted to give it a chance and were surprised it was not very crowded.
Excellent scallops and lavender cocktail. Excellent service from Tiffany. Great place for a date.
Stephanie's on Newbury is one of my favorite brunch spots. It's very easy to get carried away with creating the Bloody Mary's, but that's half the fun. Food is always top notch
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The Linguine and Scampi was amazing and the Sangria was refreshing. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
Fun atmosphere, Great staff. Food is delicious but pricey
Great place sat outside great service
It Was Awesome !
Solid choice with a great atmosphere and enjoyable food. They were very accommodating of my dietary restrictions as well.
Love stephie’s!! Wish the menu was a bit broader like before. Mussels were my favorite.
A lackluster service experience (from host and waitress) and a under-value meal. Ambiance is wonderful and a sidewalk cafe on a beautiful day saved this from not being a real catastrophe of a meal. But, I’m not sure I’ll be back.
Birthday and graduation celebration dinner ruined by worst customer service. Have been to this restaurant before with fond memories. This time it was disastrous. Went through 3 host/hostesses to get them to acknowledge our reservation. Sat at table for over 15 min without wait staff. Forced to chase down a server from patio to get any attention. Took another 15 min to get drinks. Server we were assigned only took food order and dropped off check - cleaning crew and other servers did all the work - after being flagged down. It was surreal. The final insult was the manager delivering the dessert we ordered, nearly 30 min after asking for it, to apologize for it being late - and after a discussion about our terrible night, only took a few dollars off bill. Are you kidding?! I appreciate your restaurant is on Newberry St and has a patio, so plenty of patrons; but if you don’t address the service of your staff, customs will go elsewhere.
It’s always a must to have a meal here whenever we are in Boston—but need to put the Mac and Cheese on the brunch menu!!!
A very disappointing dining experience! Our food arrived in less than 5 minutes after we ordered and unfortunately tasted pre-cooked. Fish & chips - fish soggy and chips cold (this was removed from the bill). Pork chop - was extremely dry! Cobb Salad - no egg. Caesar salad with steak tips was fine.
Felt like they were going for quick table turnover versus quality.
For a restaurant that had been in business for years, their inability to function when there are lots if people inside and out is rather astounding. How can such s good restaurant run out of wine glasses?? Holders to chill wine bottles?? And even simple courtesies for checking to see if food is correct, pepper needed, etc. it is still one of the better places to street watch on a lovely summer evening.
We went here for a graduation dinner and sat outside. It was an enjoyable time and the food was very good.
Food good enjoyed pancakes , service very slow , pricy
Great Newbury Street Bunch Option.
The service is very good to excellent. The staff is very well trained, professional and polite.
The Food is fresh and good
Great service with a smile! Our waiter was tops. The food was delicious. I highly recommend the lobster guacamole.
Always a great choice when in the area! My friend and I were shopping downtown and Stephanie's never lets us down.
Excellent Bloody Mary, very good food, executive mimosa nothing to write home about. Friendly service - hostess not so much.
In a word...terrible. Overpriced. I ordered a Greek Salad. They brought me a small plate with a few slices of cucumber, 4 tiny tomatoes and 4 small olives. No lettuce at all....and the best part is that they charge $20 for this! Appalling! They put chicken on the plate instead of shrimp (which I asked for), and then I sent it back and ordered the Cobb Salad. Tiny salad as well, a few mouthfuls of food, and they charge $21 for that. The place is a tourist trap and way overpriced for what it is. We will not be back.
Stephanie's used to be great. Our lunch there was far from it. The menu was terribly limited. The chicken sandwich was dry. The lobster roll was skimpy and not very fresh. Even the sangria was mediocre. Our waitress, who was no doubt instructed to do so, hurried us. Price with tip: Around $100.00.
Be aware that even if you reserve, you won’t necessarily be able to sit on the patio. We were told “the patio is on a first-come, first-served basis” by a rather rude host when we arrived and inquired. It’s unfortunate this information was not clearly presented when we reserved on OpenTable; we were disappointed as we had been really looking forward to this birthday celebration and thought we’d clearly requested and would receive outdoor seating.
We were seated fairly close to reservation time. It appeared the waitress was overwhelmed. Food came out at separate times, food was okay not worth the money.
It’s time for us to find a new place for brunch in Boston.
Food was very good but overpriced. Had a reservation but waited 30 minutes to be seated.
Server was incredibly personable however slow
Brought denim very late
Great food, nice decor, energetic city ambience and helpful waitstaff!
Love the food and great bloody Mary's. Have been here several times always with fantastic service. I recommend you get reservations since it is so popular.
Delicious but where were the old goodies in the bread basket?
I had the fried chicken and waffle dinner. It was horrible. The chicken was dry and the waffle tasted terrible. How can a restaurant make such an awful tasting waffle?
