Great food and a cool garden in the middle of the city.

Menu was a joke. Two basic entrees. Most interesting appetizer was not available. The whole thing felt amateur and was confusing. Such a waste of a good space.

Our monthly restaurant outing. Best thing was the table in a quiet area. We could talk! Although a limited menu, we shared lots of dishes. Stellar dry rib eye steak, pizzas and charcuterie plate. 50% off wine deal was amazing!! Except for difficulty parking, it was an awesome evening.

The bay view and garden setting make this a lovely spot for relaxed conversation and dining. The construction in the area can be annoying and makes it a little difficult to access. Parking in the building lot is plentiful.

The food is simple, fresh and allowed to show its inherent flavors. Unfortunately there isn’t a lot of variety, but maybe that keeps things focused on doing a few things well.

On a Monday evening the place was empty and a hidden gem. Happy to avoid the crowds and enjoy the seclusion and almost private service.

Everything was great! Table was ready when we arrived, Food was excellent, and the staff were very professional.

Lovely space, great service, uniquely beautiful patio with view. The staff were very responsive to my questions regarding vegan option. I will definitely be back.

Stem is a favorite due to location and food. Service is sub-par for this quality/price restaurant.

We had a terrible experience at stem kitchen. The restaurant is located in an office building in an industrial zone, has no charm at all and no view from the roof top. The starters were really good (burrata kale salad) but the entrees were uneatable. The pizza tasted fishy and the chicken was undercooked and pink.
The cocktails were too strong, we couldnt drink it.
Would not recommend going there at all although the staff was nice

Our experience was less than desirable- bad cocktails with an inexperienced and rude bartender. Food service was slow and not very friendly waitress.

Overpriced and overrated . Not returning any time soon.

Nice new place good food - the roads are problematic around the locations due to construction - but that is temporary

I forget SF is actually very pretty (I live here for 20 plus yrs) - hopefully this area will not get over run with well ...... we all know what i am talking about bc it is really beautiful peaceful clean - I hope it stays that way

Food was good but not great. Service was exceptional.

Such a great and fantastic night! Staff could not have been nicer or friendlier! Each small plate of risotto, potatoes and cauliflower salad were delicious. Halibut and chicken entrees were really great. Dessert was top notch and well portioned. Overall, excellent night and we’ll definitely be back!

Lovely atmosphere. We were seated indoors, next to an open door to the patio.
NOTE: IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET TO THIS BUILDING RIGHT NOW DUE TO CONSTRUCTION IN THE AREA.

This place is fine... but a bit pricey. The food is tasty, but there wasn't enough food on the plate for the amount you paid. The service was great and the wait staff was very accommodating and friendly. The place is very clean, just not my kind of establishment.

My only criticism was the parking garage. it wasn't marked to head into correct doors by the elevator and to walk down the corridor and up a flight of stairs to STEM.

I understand its a medical facility but the reception on the main floor was unfriendly, not helpful in that regard, and curt with their response.

Also, with all the construction outside we were misdirected several times on GPS / Siri / iphone

Beautiful, fresh produce. Salad was lovely. Prices are a little steep but then again considering the location, it's probably reasonable. I love the stylish look of the place. The first time we had the brussels sprouts they were divine, the second time they were burned to a crisp.

The view of the Bay and the outdoor garden are stunning. The food is reasonably priced as the lunch service is fast.

Was so disappointed. Haven't been to Stem for a year. While the service was good (no more than 10 people were in the restaurant - the food was so dismal. Sorry to write this but...

This restaurant is waiting for the Warriors new stadium to open, when I expect it to be inundated with diners. The menu is small but innovative, and the cocktails were imaginative. Then, there is the garden to enjoy. All in all a very enjoyable experience.

Food was delicious! Loved the unique offerings. Staff was informed and friendly. Ambiance was beautiful.

Maybe just drinks outside would have been better. Two apps and four mains for 4 of us was $350 with tip. Dont think I will be sending people here for dinner.

Nice open restaurant. A bit over-priced. Had the soup and half sandwich option; half a sandwich is not much food when it's the ahi sandwich. Perhaps that's my fault, but to get a full sandwich and salad would have been $25 or more, which is a lot for a lunch.

Food and ambiance great - service spotty - kept having to ask for refill on water and time lag between appetizer and main was at least 1/2 hour - way too long without server paying any attention

Still hidden, and thus nice place to grab dinner. But once the basketball arena is completed things will most likely change. But for now, a nice find.

Some of the staff was rude. No parking, and they should give some suggestions on their website bc it is under a huge construction zone and took 30 minutes to find parking nearby and then walk over. Wasn’t worth it for the service and food

Food was bland and boring. Had the soup/salad/sandwhich combo. The salad was 5 pieces of lettuce on a plate, the soup had zero spice. The tuna sandwich was okay.

The restaurant was cold therefore uncomfortable.

We were told to park in the garage. However, the garage closed 30 minutes after the time of our reservation. (Closing time of the garage was never mentioned.) When we finished our dinner, we were locked in the garage. We live 2hours north. By the time we were able to get assistance (thanks to cell phone and our friends with whom we had dinner. They had Ubered to the restaurant. Though their ride had just arrived, they helped us by finding a security guard we were finally able to exit. We arrived home around 2am.

This resulted in us getting home at 1:30 am.

Great restaurant! Deserves more recognition. Food and service is very good.

I hesitate to say I wouldn't recommend because it is such a great space... We were a party of 4 and were seated right away...The waiter was fine but nothing to write home about...We all live in SOMA and frequent many restaurants...The food was just "OK"...We ordered a Margarita Pizza that was good but it had pesto on it...Who puts pesto on a classic margarita pizza? Now it could have been under the description but no one noticed if it was...if this is their MP then a waiter should let customer's know it is a bit different...
Half of our party ordered the halibut...Ok halibut nice thick white flaky piece of fish, correct? Nope not at STEM...you could see the pieces were cut in half ( width) which resulted in one piece being a dark grey and the other piece barley there... The chicken dish was decent and the mushroom risotto was good but huge pieces of black pepper was throughout the dish...I told the waiter but he said nothing...We still were going to give STEM another chance and ordered cc cookies and lemon tart...The cookies were average and the tart crust was tough and hard to cut into and the lemon filling was weak and runny...I don't know what is going on at this restaurant but I hope this review wakes the owners and chefs up to make some improvements!!!

Decided to book the place since the restaurant can accommodate children. Met up with my friends and their newborn, the restaurant sat us at the corner so we had plenty of space to roam. Drink menu has special (50% on 50 bottles) on a Tuesday so that was awesome. There was some hiccup with my order but restaurant quickly fixed it.

Excellent food. Medium size portions - all good.

We had dinner at STEM during SF Restaurant Week and enjoyed the 3 course meal. We both had the amuse bouche, poached pear salad, beef short rib, and chocolate cake with mousse. Each dish was delicious and we never had to wait more than a few minutes to receive our next course. Their Tuesday 50% wine bottle deal is a steal and we purchased a bottle of Pinot Noir for the meal. The waiters were all very helpful and provided helpful wine recommendations. Only drawback was we couldn't see the nearby water since it was already dark but we will definitely be back.

Tables that came after us finished and left, while we were left waiting for entrees for 45-60 min.
Half the entrees came out cold.
The manager offered to make new entrees, but we didn’t want to wait another 45 min for hot food.
They took two entrees off the bill, but we will never go back nor will we recommend the restaurant.

The food was great. They were very accommodating of our special request for the Keto diet some of us are on. Everyone in our party of 5 enjoyed the entire experience.

always a favorite as we are from UCSF, and need to accommodate both vegetarians and meat eaters in a professional ambiance to be able to talk business.

The drinks were great! The staff was super attentive and friendly. The chairs were comfortable and ambience nice.
We both got the halibut. It was raw inside and the clam chowder sauce was sparce and mostly potatoes. It was pretty bland and boring.

We had some delicious pizza and wonderful salads. It’s a lovely restaurant! It will be super popular once the Warriors stadium opens as it’s very close!
