Good cocktails, friendly staff. Food is pretty good but as most places in SF slightly overpriced. Good proximity to Chase Center and a cool view of the bay out back.
Limited menu, probably due to farm to fork availability. Close to the Chase center is a plus.
Great for drinks and apps before a game or show at Chase Center. Service is a bit slow on waited tables so sit at the bar, but the food and cocktails were great!
Ask for Jeremy, hands down best service we have ever received. Friendly, knowledgeable, and is the reason we keep coming back. That and the food and drinks!
I love going to STEM! I love the fresh ingredients from their local garden and their delicious menu and ambiance! My favorite appetizer is the honey chili brussel sprouts! Yum! The main reason I go to STEM is for Aubrey. She is is fabulous! Her attention to detail goes above and beyond what you would expect. She is the BEST!
The service was poor. We had 3 servers and waited about 20 minutes from when they dropped the dessert menus off to when we ordered. They were not busy at all and we could barely get served.
Beautiful space- We went on a non Chase event so it was completely empty- and just a few tables outside. The food sounded amazing, but we were so disappointed- Nothing had any flavor. Heirloom tomato salad, kale salad with Burrata cheese- no flavor. Everything was so bland- My husband said it best, "they are cooking for color, not flavor" Hope they can get some flavor because it is a beautiful space
The food was fantastic! I look forward to going back in the evening to see the restaurant at night.
It took a long time for our cocktails to come but it was a very busy night
Very pleasant, professional staff
My friend and I had dined here before a Chase Center event. The service was fabulous. We enjoyed our food and the small bites were delicious. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, pork belly and the burrata salad.
We also split the main dish. We will come back again!
This was my first time eating at this restaurant. What a great experience! We were there to have dinner before the Elton John concert. It was quite a festive crowd, lots of people dressed up in costume for the concert. The food was fantastic, very inventive dishes and amazing ingredients.
Ordered the chicken and it was super dry. Not much flavor either. The Brussels were great and the pizza was good too. First time here. I would give it a second try. The night might of just been off for the crew
Very limited menu. We made reservations before the Elton John concert at the Chase Center. The restaurant was clearly overwhelmed. Our service was okay but we watched 2 tables walk out after waiting too long to order. The salmon was flavorless but the butterscotch bread pudding was amazing! May have just been an off night as they adjust to the Chase Center crowds. Very conveniently located next door. I would give them another try.
Beautiful setting, subpar food. Definitely not worth the $ but the surroundings are great if you happen to be in the area. The cheese plate had three tiny pieces of cheese on it, enough for one person, tops. The meatballs were still frozen in the middle. Awful. That said, the ambiance is killer.
Very excited to try this restaurant before a Chase Center event. So disappointed! The food was very average except for Brussels sprouts and pastas bravas. We did request a special order for two diabetics. Garden salad(on the menu,) with a chicken breast on top. Chicken breast entree was also on menu with different sides. It took over 40 min to get our meal! The cheese plate was super skimpy for $16. It took another 20 min to get our check. Will check out different restaurant next time.
Went here before Eric Clapton on 9/11, recommended for great happy hour, food and drinks. As it turns out, any time there is something going on at The Chase - no happy hour. The drinks were great. The food was ok. We're still laughing about the cheese plate. We ordered all 3 cheeses, for 4 people. We received 4 small toasts with 3 tiny portions of cheese. I think the brie slice was 1/4 inch think by 2 inches. It was like a SNL skit. When I asked the waiter about it = no real response. The entire plate would be for one person. We had fun dividing tiny pieces of cheese into quarters. I have had larger samples at Trader Jo's. They might want to rethink the cheese portions. The dessert was delicious - butterscotch bread pudding. Beautiful setting and nice decor.
Our server Robby was trying to provide us the great service while they were very busy since Chace center opening event was scheduled on that day/Friday night.
We were there after the lunch rush and the place was nearly empty, so it was quiet, calm and the service was great. Evidently it's super busy during business lunch hour and then again for dinner. Not in between though.
The indoor space is wonderful - sleek and warm at the same time, but it's the outdoor space that's spectacular with its gardens, lovely seating, lights strung across and amazing view of the bay toward the east.
The food is good, the menu limited but interesting. My salad (just a simple tossed greens with the soup and sandwich) was under-dressed but the remainder of the food was great. There's a large variety of beers and wines - which they have ON TAP!
Nest is on my top ten list for ambience and a great (great, great) view.
Uniquely large outdoor space with beautiful views of the water. Great food Good bocce ball set up. Really nice staff. It’s oddly quiet (not packed) which is nice and won’t last as the stadium events increase in frequency and more people discover it.
It’s somewhat hidden in the upstairs of a multi-use building.
Great service, beautiful atmosphere. Sat outside which is great! Cocktails were nice. Food was uneven. Best dishes were pizza, Brussels sprouts, peppers and patatas bravas. There were only three main courses available for dinner on Saturday. We had salmon which was $28 and not very good! The risotto was also pretty disappointing. Butterscotch bread pudding was delicious and big enough to share. The restaurant did comp us on one of the dishes because we shared our feedback so I think they deserve a compliment for that!
Parking is confusing....and this place is hard to find and once the Arena opens this area will be very crowded and trendy...
Very nice meal. Great outdoor seating. Training server who did a fine job.
Kale salad dressing was too hot for our tastes and they adjusted the bill without question.
I love the Mission Bay location and will definitely return.
We go to Stem at least once or twice a week as we are neighbors with them. We enjoy the food as well as the service each time we go. The food is always fresh and consistently delicious.
Very enjoyable evening at Stem Kitchen. Sat outside on a lovely night and enjoyed our wine and small plates. Really love their little pizzas and the sprouts.
Great food and a cool garden in the middle of the city.
Menu was a joke. Two basic entrees. Most interesting appetizer was not available. The whole thing felt amateur and was confusing. Such a waste of a good space.
Our monthly restaurant outing. Best thing was the table in a quiet area. We could talk! Although a limited menu, we shared lots of dishes. Stellar dry rib eye steak, pizzas and charcuterie plate. 50% off wine deal was amazing!! Except for difficulty parking, it was an awesome evening.
The bay view and garden setting make this a lovely spot for relaxed conversation and dining. The construction in the area can be annoying and makes it a little difficult to access. Parking in the building lot is plentiful.
The food is simple, fresh and allowed to show its inherent flavors. Unfortunately there isn’t a lot of variety, but maybe that keeps things focused on doing a few things well.
On a Monday evening the place was empty and a hidden gem. Happy to avoid the crowds and enjoy the seclusion and almost private service.
Everything was great! Table was ready when we arrived, Food was excellent, and the staff were very professional.
Lovely space, great service, uniquely beautiful patio with view. The staff were very responsive to my questions regarding vegan option. I will definitely be back.
Stem is a favorite due to location and food. Service is sub-par for this quality/price restaurant.
We had a terrible experience at stem kitchen. The restaurant is located in an office building in an industrial zone, has no charm at all and no view from the roof top. The starters were really good (burrata kale salad) but the entrees were uneatable. The pizza tasted fishy and the chicken was undercooked and pink.
The cocktails were too strong, we couldnt drink it.
Would not recommend going there at all although the staff was nice
Beautiful indoor and outside on the very expansive patio
Our experience was less than desirable- bad cocktails with an inexperienced and rude bartender. Food service was slow and not very friendly waitress.
Overpriced and overrated . Not returning any time soon.
Nice new place good food - the roads are problematic around the locations due to construction - but that is temporary
Nice ingredients well prepared
very nice staff they are around enough but not too much
and NICE COCKTAILS too
and the VIEW
I forget SF is actually very pretty (I live here for 20 plus yrs) - hopefully this area will not get over run with well ...... we all know what i am talking about bc it is really beautiful peaceful clean - I hope it stays that way
Food was good but not great. Service was exceptional.
Such a great and fantastic night! Staff could not have been nicer or friendlier! Each small plate of risotto, potatoes and cauliflower salad were delicious. Halibut and chicken entrees were really great. Dessert was top notch and well portioned. Overall, excellent night and we’ll definitely be back!
Lovely atmosphere. We were seated indoors, next to an open door to the patio.
NOTE: IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET TO THIS BUILDING RIGHT NOW DUE TO CONSTRUCTION IN THE AREA.
This place is fine... but a bit pricey. The food is tasty, but there wasn't enough food on the plate for the amount you paid. The service was great and the wait staff was very accommodating and friendly. The place is very clean, just not my kind of establishment.
My only criticism was the parking garage. it wasn't marked to head into correct doors by the elevator and to walk down the corridor and up a flight of stairs to STEM.
I understand its a medical facility but the reception on the main floor was unfriendly, not helpful in that regard, and curt with their response.
Also, with all the construction outside we were misdirected several times on GPS / Siri / iphone
