Stella's Fish Cafe & Prestige Oyster Bar Ratings and Reviews
Brought Cardiologist from Rochester. Very impressed with menu and quality of food. Especially the mussels. We were disappointed that you took the lobster pot pie off of the menu. It was worth driving across the State for. Service was super and whole experience was same as we had in the past. Y
We got to the restaurant and learned that Stella's had canceled our reservation earlier that day. Fortunately, they were still able to put together a table for us so things worked out well in the end.
The food at Stella's is always great but the Ciopinno is exceptional.
Food was good but poor service. The table had been "cleaned" and set but chunks of other people's food were left on the table and seat. Oysters poorly shucked with shells broken and multiple bits of shell in the oysters. A request for more horseradish went unanswered until we asked a second time. Waters went empty for long periods.
Prices are too high for the quality.
I would not recommend this restaurant.
Our experience at Stella's was wonderful. They were very accommodating, although were 30 minutes late due to terrible traffic.
Our server was great. She anticipated our needs. We were especially appreciative that she split the appetizer charges among each of the three checks. That is wonderful!
Not so great this time. We had oysters which were very fishy. We eat oysters all the time and good oysters should not be fishy. I had the jambalya and did not feel well the rest of the day. My husband had a lobster roll and the lobster was over cooked. The bloody marys and clam chowder were good.
I went to Stella's cuz Lucia's closed and I read that Stella's was owned by some of the same people. They didn't disappoint! I had the salmon oscar. The fish was quite fresh, it came with a small salad, a medium-sized crab cake (more than enough), and mashed potatoes. Everything was served on a hot dinner plate which I really appreciate. The service was good, the wine was good, and the food was quite good. It's a little noisy in there on a Saturday night, but I will definitely be back again.
Great to be there during Restaurant Week, but that contributed to the feeling of the host not being particularly friendly (she seemed rushed), our being rushed, and similarly with our clam chowder coming out practically cold. However, the rest of the meal was awesome, and our server warmed up as the evening went on. I'd like to come back when it's not restaurant week to see if the meal can feel more relaxed and I can enjoy it more. There are great choices on the menu!
te a wonderful meal! So why a 1 star - left my credit card behind and they couldn't find it. Still no reason for a 1 star as that's my fault. Here's why - in trying to identify who to ask about my credit card I found an incorrect charge on my bill of about $20. Of course it couldn't be refunded to my lost credit card and when I tried to get the manager to figure out an alternative, he said he wasn't going to bother as he was doing me a favor by considering a refund in the first place. The 1 star is for the manager. (The waitress was a young, very pleasant young lady called Megan and I did leave her a $50 tip - last one that restaurant will get from me.)
This is an Uptown institution. I ordered fish and chips and spouse ordered coconut shrimp. Both excellent. I had had Alaskan cod in Ketchikan just two months ago, but Stella’s surpassed it. Good sized portions, light but crunchy batter, perfectly cooked. The fries were very good, with a light sprinkle of coarse sea salt. The shrimp was also lightly altered, and not over cooked as so often happens. Stella’s knows fish, and knows what to do with it. Good bar, too. Noah provided friendly service, setting a good tone. We will return.
The food was fine, but for the pricing and the fact that this is a fish and seafood specialty restaurant I was very disappointed that they only offered one wild caught protein option, which was salmon. Nothing that we tasted was bad, but nothing was outstanding either. Even my dessert was rather pedestrian and dry. We didn't finish it, which is very unusual for our table. The highlight of our meal was our server, who did everything within her power to answer questions and accommodate my dietary needs. Given the pricing we likely won't return, but others who don't care as much about sourcing or sides might enjoy it more than we did.
Food was fabulous. Wine list was meager and especially in the category of champagne. One bottle at $79? A little more selection would be nice. Noise levels on the main floor where we were seated was outrageous. It was extraordinarily difficult to hear conversations with the 5 of us. While I would recommend Stella’s, I would think twice about going there with the noise levels.
Great spot for a wedding anniversary celebration! Lobster Bake for 2 was delicious - huge amount of food. Service was excellent. Little noisy - open concept rooms. They do have outdoor dining which we were offered, but the weather was less than perfect.
Groupon was $109 for a Lobster Bake for 2, including a bottle of very decent wine, that normally retails for $189.
Food was very tasty. Service wasn't all that great, waitress seemed to preoccupied to give us the great service I expected for the price we were paying for the food. I asked for a water refill and it took an extremely long time to get it! Also, the restaurant was fairly empty but they sat us at a table pretty much right in the kitchen, so that was a bit odd to me.
Honestly the waitress was awesome, Very patient and friendly for how busy it was on a Friday night. Thank you for the brownie birthday thing!
I made a reservation and had requested the top floor and when they called me to confirm I asked about the roof top. The host I talked to gave me some great advice and suggested I have my friends and family show up around 7pm to check in and try to get a table on the roof in case one was open; If not then I still had my table on the 2nd floor. Here is when it got a bit annoying.
My sister in law checked in at 7pm with 2 other people and was told to wait till 7:20 before checking in and some was told she had only a table for 6 people. I sent her my confirmation for 11 guests and I also told her what the host had told me. When the time came they didn't have a table ready but I love the effort and how they got something set up downstairs before I showed up with my wife. The host that night was a pain over the phone and I wasn't to happy with it but I still love coming here regardless and this is only about that night.
