About this restaurant

Our restaurant specializes in Beijing-style crispy duck (served flaming show), fresh bullfrog hotpot (prepared on the day), stir-fried , golden broth rice, fresh fish, lobster, abalone, sea cucumber, and fish maw. We also offer a variety of classic Sichuan dishes, nourishing soups, and innovative American-Chinese fusion cuisine for our international guests to try. Our full bar features a selection of specialty cocktails, sake, and Chinese spirits. We offer private rooms for events such as banquets, receptions, and group dinners. Our Peking duck is limited daily and available until sold out, so we recommend making reservations in advance. We aim to bring a unique dining experience to our friends in the Phoenix area.

Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Stellar66 Chinese Restaurant and Bar offers "authentic Chinese cuisine" with a "great cocktail menu" and "freshly made dumplings." While some guests note the "delicious Peking Duck" and "spectacular food," service inconsistencies and timing issues have been highlighted. The ambiance is "nice," but improvements in service could enhance the overall dining experience.

I genuinely wanted to love this restaurant, but unfortunately, our experience fell short in several areas. Service: We were seated promptly upon arrival, which was appreciated. However, despite a large menu, many items were unavailable. Service was quite slow, even though there were just two of us. Our drinks were delayed, and one was completely forgotten until almost the end of the meal. I had to personally remind the staff about the missing drink and later, even the check by walking up to the bar area. That said, the staff was friendly and polite; they may just benefit from additional training to improve efficiency. Food: Regrettably, the food was disappointing. The dumplings tasted fresh but lacked flavor. Both my husband's dish and mine were visually appealing but surprisingly bland. The velvetized chicken in his noodle dish had an unusual taste and texture, unlike anything we have experienced before. Having extensive experience with authentic and flavorful Chinese cuisine, especially from our travels and being New Yorkers, we felt let down. I even found myself feeling queasy, which was a first for me in a dining experience. Ambiance: The atmosphere could use some improvements. Although there's an effort, it lacks warmth and feels somewhat institutional, almost like an upgraded cafeteria. Additionally, a corner full of empty, lined-up chairs felt oddly out of place and unwelcoming. Cleanliness: Something just felt off there. Not clean but not super dirty. Then we learned of previous health and cleanliness issues that were even on a tv segment, further influencing our decision not to return. I genuinely hope the restaurant takes this feedback constructively, as there's clear potential if these areas can be addressed.

Disappointing. The soup dumplings and hot & sour soup were hot and tasty, but all our entrees plus the orders of the regular dumplings came out cold or room temp. My parents felt their dishes were bland. Timing from the kitchen was off. We had to ask for items from our dishes that were missing (noodles, rice) and another entire entree was delivered 15 minutes after all others. The restaurant is nicely decorated but it was fairly dead for the area on a Saturday night. I think many saw it featured online (like us) and wanted to try, but don’t go back.

Like many I saw this place on social media, presented by a local influencer, I had high hopes. When I walked in I saw a bunch of boxes which I thought was stock, so it took away from my first impressions. After sitting I saw a sign near the boxes about an anniversary so maybe they were prizes???We were sat quickly but it took awhile for anyone to come take a drink order. When they did finally come they took both our drink and food order at the same time. The food came pretty fast except our dumpling order. We had finished eating our other food before they were delivered. I usually think of dumplings as appetizers, so it was odd having them after. I was also very full so not sure I liked them as much as I would have, had they arrived earlier in the service. But they were being hand rolled made to order. The other food was ok but for me not worth the drive from Florence where I came from. No desert options, but the cocktail menu was great. They had photos, but the ingredients were not listed in English so I had no idea what went into my Mt Fugi drink. It was fun and tasted great. Overall the ambience would have perhaps been nicer later in the night with the lights dimmed and the table lamps glowing, however at the early dinner hour the cement floors and previously mentioned boxes made it feel less inviting. Unfortunately not worth the hype.

Authentic Chinese cuisine with an extensive menu. Dumplings are made fresh. Service could improve slightly to be more attentive. But overall a great dining experience. Also the sign outside for all you can eat dumplings should really say everyday during lunch time only 11am-3pm.

We went for their Valentine's Day Special because we wanted to try something new. We selected to try their V-Day menu and we were disappointed by some of the items because it didn't taste well and the food came out very cold. The food came out of order that was listed on the menu and we were ready to go before the dessert arrived. We definitely would not recommend this place.

    1. We were there for Valentine’s Day. When we were to be seated, hostess asked me if we wanted the special Valentine menu or regular. We said that we hadn’t been in before and would like to see both menus. Then she tells us that they are not serving the regular menu. So why did she even ask? But then she checked and found out they were serving the regular menu as well. 2. We were seated for 20-25 minutes, not once did anyone come over to offer drinks (they did bring water, however). 3. Servers were all over the place, they did not seem to know who to serve. There did not seem to be any logic. The kept bringing wrong food to tables, and then taking the meals to other tables. 4. We finally ordered dinner with the drinks, and were watching other people complaining to each other about the wait, and several parties walked out. 5. After waiting for a long time, they brought out wrong food. We told them, they took it back, and then brought it back again, dropped it off and left. It was a prix fixe menu, but they forgot half the courses. No service to speak of. Any time we wanted anything, it required hailing someone down like we were hailing a taxi. 6. The food was very mediocre, bland, under and overcooked. Half the dishes were very cold, but since we couldn’t get any service, we couldn’t send anything back. The dessert was a matcha tiramisu, which they said had matcha but not coffee. Since I love tea and don’t like coffee, I wanted to try it. It, of course had coffee, and was completely frozen on the inside, hence inedible. 7. I rarely write reviews, but this place was just terrible in all aspects and completely ruined our Valentine’s mood. Will not be back.
