I love my date night with my husband. The ambience, staff and food was excellent!
Server was outstanding. Brought my husband a new entree when the first entree wasn't to his liking. Wish I could remember his name.
Background music was a bit loud.
Fabulous meal with great service,
Wonderful staff. Wonderful fireplace. App are ok; lots of fried dishes. Next time, I would go straight to entrees. Love the valet parking that comes free with dining!
Everything was pretty good except we nearly froze to death. Our waitress was very good
Stella is the current incarnation of the Dunbar Room at the Sorrento Hotel. Pretty much the same ambiance (including the unfortunate floor tile choice), but with the addition of some experienced and very good servers.
Food excellently prepared: this was brunch. We had the sticky buns -- 4 large, and well coated with a carmelized nut glaze, buns. Most came home with us and have served well as leftovers. We also had a quite ample sized green salad with a nice light vinaigrette. Then a spinach and preserved tomato frittata, served with an excellent flavored creme fraiche and a potato-bacon-brussel sprouts hash, on a bed of the same excellent creme fraiche. A lot of food, and all of it very good.
Such a great space. I enjoyed that there was a small crowd for NYE. Felt very safe. The food just doesn't match the beauty of this hotel. Service was a little too diner-ish. Where does the staff sit at your table to take your order? Still, it was a nice evening. Nothing like ten years ago - but a nice quiet place on NYE during a crazy pandemic.
Pleasant service. Food was split good and bad. Oysters quite good. Cocktail shrimp had that tough but mealy been-frozen-too-long quality, which they seemed to be trying to mask by dipping them in spices. Cocktail sauce was just bad. Arancini with mushroom and truffle were very tasty. Hot cider wasn’t bad but tasted really diluted - more like apple tea. Linguine with clam sauce genuinely wretched - soggy over-cooked linguine, loaded with Parmesan (!?!?) to the point that it was stringy when you lifted a forkful, likely compensating for the complete lack of seafood flavor. Lots of overcooked garlic piled on top. Atmosphere was fine but a little run down. In fairness it was Christmas night but we arrived at 7:15, seated at 7:20 and told to get our order in right away because kitchen closing at 7:45. At 8, they said sorry no dessert kitchen is closed (even though dessert options included things straight from the fridge like a sundae).
Three of us dined at STELLA on a Friday evening. It was a cold December evening and the bare floors and being in close proximity to two doors to the outside made it a chilly dinner. Kept our coats over our shoulders for the first half of our dinner. The hostess and servers were friendly and attentive. We ordered appetizers, the best of which was the cod brandade fritters. The scallop entree was very good, the steelhead with roasted brussels sprouts were decent, probably something I could cook at home. Mother in law is not an adventurous eater so ordered the chicken. She said it was good, but looked like a home cooked version. The panna cotta dessert with limoncello granita was delightfully refreshing. If I was in the area and just looking for dinner nearby, I would eat here. Otherwise wouldn't go out of my way to return.
This one time iconic Hotel Sorrento has lost some of it's charm. The Stella resturant is nice, but could badly use some seating updates. The food was good! The service was perfect. The Hotel Sorrento's bathrooms were just about as cold as being outside. I suggest going on a warm day.
We love the Sorrento. Have for decades. We were beyond disappointed by the way we were treated. We were there for a Christmas celebration with another couple. From the time we walked in to our departure we were treated as if we were a bother not a customer. Horrible attitude from the hostess to the wait staff. So disappointed.
horrible service, food presentation was bad, no utensils or side plates to share meal
Lovely venue, excellent food, and friendly waitstaff. What more could you ask for?
We LOVE going to STELLA's for Brunch.
Only a couple of things - Impliment a NO DOGS policy or check with guests at the table next to where you will be seating the dog owners. The animal was beautiful - but damn it - some people are afraid of DOGS. Our day was really awesome and perfect until this couple brought their beagle who was frightened by the plastic tent in the wind.
My 82 year old mother can't handle dogs. And owners of DOGS need to pull the damn leash in.
And about 10 minutes before we left - who let the children in. Running around the tables, not being watched by the nanny or the parents, noisy little rugrats.
How about a NO DOGS, NO CHILDREN policy?
We will definitely go again - but we will be quite adamant about our surroundings.
Thank you STELLA's for the 2 hours of Valet Parking. Your Valets are the best!!
First, as a native of Seattle, I have always taken out of town guests to the Hotel Sorrento during the Holidays. This year decorations were woefully underwhelming, but the service in the restaurant, outdoor dining, was spectacular. Our server was outstanding. She was advised we were on a tight time schedule and she performed superbly and professionally. As a former owner of 6 local restaurants, she is the type of Server I would build my next restaurant around. Kudos...though I might add that one of my guests left a scarf in the bar (which we recovered) and when she called the front desk for assistance, Dalia, said she was "too busy to deal with the request". The only low mark of an otherwise memorable evening.
The staff was above and beyond. Highly recommend a visit here. Great food. Great atmosphere.
Delicious food. Highly recommend the octopus and scallops. Server and atmosphere are fantastic. Sat outside and was not cold at all, despite the weather being 39 degrees.
Mitch is a excellent waiter. We never felt rushed and he knew what he was talking about We loved everything
Pork chop wasn’t very flavorful, Noise level way to loud in the beginning, and space not as magical as the pics shown.
We had a cozy dinner in the Fireside Room - could not have been more perfect. The food, drinks & service were excellent!! Excellent choice for a romantic moment!
Delicious food, Great ambience and wonderful service. Highly recommend for a festive holiday experience
We ate at Stella for Thanksgiving dinner and ordered their 5 course meal. In total, we were there for almost 3 hours, mostly because it took us 30 minutes to get crackers and drinks, and then another 30 minutes to get appetizers, and 30 more to get our main dishes. The speed of service was abysmal, and the restaurant didn't even seem that busy.
We made reservations for Thanksgiving dinner. Everything took really long to come out and in total we were there for three hours. I understand that with the holidays restaurants can be understaffed but for a pre-reserved meal it seemed like better planning could have taken place.
Our cab was late, so we were late; the Stella host kept our reservation, and on our departure the front desk most kindly offered assistance on securing cab
The food was not spectacular, but excellent and abundant, but we were disappointed that we were unable to order items from the web site menu
Would like to know more about the room with fireplace. Do they serve meals there.
Food was unimpressive. Not bad but not memorable. Menu lacked creativity.
Wonderful meal and service!
We brought friends to Stella last night to celebrate a birthday. We have lived and worked in this neighborhood for years and I will say up front--we will never return. Why oh why is a child allowed to run screaming around the dining room for about 90 minutes ruining the ambience for other diners. We had to ask for bread plates and the plates were different sizes and didn't match! The service was very slow, and the food didn't arrive for all four of us at the same time lukewarm when it did come. We had to ask twice to get the serving utensils that we needed to eat. We spent alot of money on this meal and we did not receive the expected service or quality. We valeted the car and then waited a long time to get it. Since this restaurant is in the neighborhood and we enjoyed it when it was the Hunt Club and the Dunbar Room, we will never dine here again. It is sad to see it in this state!
Highly recommend. Service was excellent and very attentive. Food was delicious, and the atmosphere was exactly what you need for good brunch conversation.
We will be back again and again and again. Thank you for making my partner’s birthday so special. And for being so understanding when the first dish wasn’t great. The salmon was AMAZING!!
Hi ToriBlaine, I love that you shared this special day with us, and that we were able to make it so wonderful for you. Thank you for letting us be a part of the Stella-bration! (Sorry, I can't resist a good pun.) I so look forward to seeing you back again; send me an email at amaloy@hotelsorrento to make that reservation for you. Delicious food, server was great and knowledgeable. Cool vibe. What else do you need?
We sat outside in the tent, which is beautifully lit with tiny lights, and despite fall’s cool weather was comfortably warm. There were two of us, and we shared three small plates and one side. It was delicious, and plenty of food for two.
Creative menu, excellent staff, great wine pairings
Very nice outdoor area. Warm and cozy. everyone was very polite and friendly. Very dog friends too. My dog had a great time and got special treats that the Chef made.
We went there for brunch with my friends and all the foods we tried was delicious. We will go back for sure.
Hi, Medisa! It was so lovely to meet you and your sweet dog, Goldie! Thanks for leaving this review! We can't wait to have you join us again. Thank You, Lex Maloy Restaurant Operations Manager
poor food and service who cared more about themselves than us
Hello Foodie111, I'm sorry you were given this impression as that is never the case. Friday the 5th, the date of your visit, was our very first evening of live music returning to the Fireside Room which made us busier than we anticipated; I'm apologize if that was reflected in the service you received. Please reach out to me at amaloy@hotelsorrento, I'd appreciate the opportunity to make this right for you. Thank You, Lex Maloy Restaurant Operations Manager
Great food and great service! Reasonable prices and huge/shareable portions as well!
A great experience. Our food was excellent, with generous portions & nicely presented. The fries are to die for, so wherever else you’re having order them anyway. Joe was a gracious, attentive and very personable server. His service was over the top outstanding. It was our first visit but we will definitely be back.
This was our first visit to Stella and it started off a bit rocky. It took awhile for the hostess to greet us. When she did she seemed rather distracted and her welcoming us was anything but warm. It felt like we were intruding on her evening and she was not really ready for our party of six although we had reservations. When we were seated she left us in the hands of the bartender/waitress. She left and never returned to our table to check on how the evening was going or anything. She was off setting other tables in an almost empty restaurant. Our bartender/waitress was very good although service was little slow to say there were very few diners at the time. It seemed like she had too many things to do while others seemed to be more leisurely. I would recommend STELLA, but with caution about quality of service.

Meeting up with friends for the first time since the pandemic was an absolute joy at Stella! Our server was friendly but not intrusive (I am blanking on her name, sorry!!) The food was delicious and we each had expertly crafted cocktails. Can't wait to come back :-)
Hi, Tamara! I'm so glad you had a lovely time, if you were here for Sunday brunch you must've met Vanessa. Thanks for taking the time to leave this review, we can't wait to have you back, too! Wait staff was outstanding; so patient and with good humor. Sat outside. Comfortable in October. Food...we'll be back to continue enjoying delicious menu choices. So glad the Sorrento is back!!!
Hey, Victoria! Sorrento and Stella are so happy to be back, too! Thanks for joining us on the patio; as it gets colder outside the tent gets cozier! Let me know if I can help make you a reservation for your next visit, feel free to email me at amaloy@hotelsorrento. Thank you for leaving this review! Lex Maloy Restaurant Operations Manager
It was cold, dark, and raining outside on the late October Sunday evening when we dined under Stella’s transparent outdoor tent. Inside the tent it was warm and cozy and lit up with tiny lights. Our friendly waiter provided us with everything we needed to order drinks and food. The new winter menu is wonderful, particularly the small plates and salads on this particular evening.
Stella scores another one out of the park!
