   Stella has my favorite open table + local natural organic ingredient concept. The tenderness and juiciness are just just to the point, not over or under at all. Plus I also see lots of surprise in their food design. For example, I had the deconstructed cheesecake that makes a normal cheesecake like an art. The concetp is to construct the ingredient in your month. Love to at least come here once a month.

   Stella is a delicious, uniquely special culinary adventure right in Truckee. The menu changes, and each dish is prepared with ingredients you won't find just anywhere. Stella sports and open kitchen and the chef is easy to watch attending to the wood fired oven and making sure each dish is plated beautifully. Best of all, service is exceptional with an enthusiastic staff ready to make sure the entire experience is pure joy.

   Table for four over the long Memorial Day weekend. Chef Chris continues to impress us with innovative, tasty dishes. The cauliflower is fantastically flavored and so unique. The octopus was also amazing as well as the salad, and all the other dishes we devoured. The ambiance is casual, relaxed, and fun. We love the open kitchen and the patio is adorable! It's always an outstanding experience dining at Stella's.

   We have had two fun dinners at Stella. The food is innovative and delicious. The staff is warm, friendly and attentive. We especially loved our waiter, Kate. The space is attractive but drafty. You might need a jacket.

    I took my wife and children here for Mother's Day Brunch. My wife and I split the Eggs Benedict and Breakfast Burrito. The Eggs Benedict was some of the best I've ever had. Breakfast Burrito was also very tasty. My children had the French Toast that was also very good. We drove here from Reno. Even though it is a 50 minute drive I would do it again for the excellent food and service.

    This is THE place to go for truly inspired, deliciously different gourmet food; yet hearty and satisfying portions of tender meat and fish dishes. Chef Watkins is a creative artist with an unusual knack for combining unexpected flavors. Delightful surprises in every dish. Chef also specializes in homemade pickles, vinegars and saki flavors.     With tough competition in the area I was expecting better. My meat was cold with a big piece of gristle. Parker House rolls not as good as my wife's. We told them it was my wife's birthday but they kept wishing us Happy Anniversary. They did comp dessert.

    We enjoyed Stella’s so much that we ate there two of our three nights in Truckee. The food is beyond creative, fresh, gourmet and delicious! We are foodies and have dined at other high caliber restaurants with famous chefs and none of them have anything on Stella’s chef and food. The service was friendly, very efficient and they were well versed in the menu and wine selections. Although the decor is minimalistic, it is modern and warm. We loved being able to watch the chefs since it’s an entirely open kitchen. Highly recommend the scallops perfectly seared and succulent, this is a complex dish with a sabayon sauce, the lamb with squash gnocchi and the luscious chocolate croissant bread pudding. We could go on and on, but just go there and be adventurous and you’ll be happy

    A few menu items not available. Food good but not great. Plating kind of chaotic looking and the sauces, while they tasted ok, were not an attractive color. Multiple waitstaff servicing our table so we got the same questions multiple times. Overall an okay experience but we wouldn’t go out of our way to steer friends there.

    We enjoyed the meal very much but what we ordered was not what we expected to receive. We thought the butter lettuce salad would be a plate of lettuce tossed with the other ingredients mentioned on the menu and big enough to share. It was arranged in a diagonal across the plate with a delicious dressing but was really only a few bites for each of us. We should have ordered two. The sea bass and lamb gnocchi were delicious and ample for one. The cheese cake was scrumptious but not a "piece" of cheesecake as expected. It was a diagonal presentation of custard dollops with graham crumbs in a lovely pattern around it. If you like surprises, different takes on traditional offerings, you will be delighted at Stella's. But if you are sharing, do ask if it is enough for two.

    I loved the food. My boyfriend and I always like trying new things and the menu definitely had some things we never tried before. The food was delicious, staff was friendly, and place had a good ambiance. I loved that you can see into the kitchen. I would definitely come back.

    Stella has always been a go to restaurant for me when I stay in Tahoe. Always good food and great service. The menu and chef has changed since new ownership and while the quality is still good; there is now very little choice for vegetarians and very slim pickings for vegans as all the main courses are fish or meat. I won't be going back to Stella, but If you don't have these dietary restrictions then you'll really enjoy the food.

    We're very disappointed with this place with terribly small main portions and horribly inflated price. Bad bad wine pour. At best, it was 3 ounces. Waitress was not so competent. The food did taste good, but for the prices, I shouldn't leave hungry . It really seems they're are trying way too hard to be nouveau and fancy. We won't ever be back.

    Went to dinner on a Friday night to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and we are sooo happy with how the dinner turned out. Every single thing we tried was absolutely delicious.     I’m embarrassed I suggested eating here. We’d dined once before and really enjoyed it. But this time the servings were appallingly small. For a main course dinner we were served two scallops. The other mains weren’t much better. Our group ordered three appetizers, our own mains and an extra main plus a couple salads and left hungry. The food was tasty and well prepared and the service lovely but it will be hard to justify ever going back.

    Their new chef, Chris Watkins, is the best ever. We tried the oven roasted cabbage rabe which was similar to broccoli rabe. the wood oven roasting gave it a wonderfully light but not overwhelming flavor which was great. We also had the hamacchi crudo with was a light and refreshing. Normally I avoid cod because it is so fishy and always presented with miso. The host and server both recommended the special black cod and I decided to try it and was so delighted. It was so tender, not fishy with a delightfully light but flavorful mushroom sauce.

    The services was incredible. Very attentive and enjoyable experience. The food was lacking. I felt it was overpriced for what we got. The salad was wilted, the cheese on the potatoes was cold and hard instead of melted, and the steak was chewy. I used to go to Stella a lot and loved the old menu. Sad to experience this new, lacking, menu. It's new, so maybe it'll get better.

    Thought it was the menu we had before but apparently it’s under new owners and the previous chef left! The menu is very sophisticated and does not appeal to all palettes. There are no chicken options so one of our guests could not find anything on the menu to order. The food was good but it is a very limited menu with about 5-6 starters and the same for entrees.

    What an incredible experience! From the friendliest staff to the amazing food and wine. We went for the mushroom hand rolls as appetizers and scallops, gnocchi and octopus as our main dishes and it was the best restaurant experience I had for the 4 years I’ve lived in Truckee/Tahoe. I recommend making a reservation ahead of time since it’s a small busy place.

    Not a family friendly place. I rarely leave reviews, but this time around I wish I would have had some reviews like this to help guide me. Food was overpriced for the value.
