Stella 34 Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
Everything here is amazing and delicious. There is nothing on the menu that I do not like. I highly recommend everyone to visit this place. Please be aware it is on the pricey side but it is delicious! Everyone must try Stella! Great date spot! All the service is very nice and friendly. They also make sure if anyone has any allergies or any strict diet.
Last minute (1:35pm) was able to make a 1:45 reservation for 3. Staff was very friendly, great view of Empire State Building. We ordered 4 apps, a flatbread and one pasta dish and it was perfect. Apps we got calamari, meatballs, risotto balls, and charcuterie. Definitely a hidden gem within Macys and a perfect escape for a nice lunch if you work in the midtown/Herald sq area!
Friends gathered for dinner prior to the Westminster Kennel Club dog show. Knowing that good-quality restaurants are hard to find near Madison Square Garden, I recommended dinner at Stella 34. My friends, who were in NYC from Maryland, loved it. We were given an excellent table with a wonderful view of the Empire State Building. The menu was so appealing that it was difficult to choose. One friend and I had the branzino, which was delicious. Another guest had a seafood combination of octopus, shrimp and crab in a broth and enjoyed it. The fourth guest had a highly original pasta dish that was flavored with foie gras. The best part of the occasion was the service. Our server, Maddie, was courteous and professional and gave us outstanding advice about both the menu and the wine list. For the wine I chose a Montepulcianio, but Maddie guided us to a much more pleasant wine in the same price range (I wish I could remember the name of it). She brought a taste of both wines for me to try, and I definitely agreed that her suggestion was the right one. All of my friends were amazed by the very reasonable $45 per person bill (granted, we didn't have appetizers or dessert), and we were happy to leave a generous tip for Maddie.
We love this restaurant for the ambiance and view and proximity to the Garden and Penn Station. It is wonderful to be able to hear oneself think, and to hear what others are saying at the table.
The food is good but can be a little pricey, and the portions are not that large. The menu is limited, so though it was my son's birthday, and we wanted to take him here, he wound up with a pizza, which he said was nothing special, nor was the calzone his wife ordered.
They were thrilled with the desserts and the other two mains and salad with shrimp were good.
The view was terrific Empire State Building right outside the window. Trying to find somewhere around Penn Station that isn't a Bar Crowd isn't easy but this is a place I would definitely suggest for anyone looking to stay around that area. Food was very good - service was spotty - but the ambiance was pleasant. Hidden (almost) gem inside Macy's on the 6th floor
Decent, but not anything I'll remember that fondly. It was a step above average for NYC. The room is great, as is the design. It's nice to eat in the old Macy's building, though taking the elevators, even the designated one, in Macy's may not be your ideal pre-dining experience. (That's not their fault.)
We decided to try this restaurant before heading to a Knicks game. The prices were very reasonable and there is a nice view from the 6th floor of Macy's. There are designated elevators to take you to the restaurant; however, they do not always work on the way down. The food is meh...average at best. Service was efficient. I would not make a special trip here unless I were shopping in Macy's.
My friend and I enjoyed our early evening dinner at Stella 34 Trattoria, a restaurant on the 6th floor of Macy's department store. The food was very good - light, Italian fare - and our server attentive, but not intrusive. With a view of the Empire State building, the restaurant provided a quiet haven from the bustle of Herald Square (which might not be the case during lunch, when the restaurant may be more crowded.) Excellent pizza.
Pizza was outstanding and quite large (too much for one person) but wait staff was very accommodative and prompt about service and packing up the leftovers. The pasta was excellent, but found the Caesar salad to be quite boring and lettuce was some kind of cabbage or rubbery lettuce and not the romaine that is the usual fare.
Last minute, and I needed to find an Italian bistro on a Friday night- this was convenient to my hotel, and had open reservations. Best of all, unexpected I would find a decent meal in a NYC restaurant inside of Macy's, but I did. The cuisine was excellent, the portions appropriate- not too big to be overstuffed, decent wine selections, and good service too, and a view- even for a native NY'er, don't get tired of looking at our great landmarks like the Empire State building.
I'd summarize by saying it's a hidden gem in the area, and I'd go back which is the highest compliment I can give.
This restaurant has a nice view of the city/Empire State Building. Requested a table by the window and that is what we got - beautiful view. The food is creative, tasty and has creative vegetarian options. Service was a bit laid back but not an issue for all of us, nice to not be rushed. Have been here each time we go into the city in January. Highly recommend
We made reservations through OpenTable about 45 minutes prior to arrival. Promptly seated and served. It's was a Friday night, so service understandably a little slow, but quality high and food very good. Had 4 kids with a party of 8, and they didn't blink an eye. Excellent place, low key.
