Need to book at 6:30 PM?Other great restaurants with availability.
I lunch at Stella regularly and was deeply disappointed in this recent lunch. We came early before the rush yet our server was remote and perfunctory, not at all attentive. We preserved the salad that we always get. Mine had two tiny pieces of chicken. When I brought this to the servers attention he came back with a plate of ice cold bland and utterly inedible chicken. When I asked him to take it away he did not ask why it suggest an alternative .
My salad was hastily prepared and missing two of the ingredients listed on the menu. I will think twice before going back.
Very limited selection on the menu. The quality of the food was poor with very little taste. Our waiter was very hard to locate once he took the order. He never came back to ask us if we wanted drink refills. The only plus that this restaurant has was the view of the Empire State Building and its location. We will not be returning back to Stella 34 Trattoria.
Too hot in the environment - we spent 600.00 and the meal was overshadowed by all of us sweating
Server had 6-7 tables and we had to ask for everything. Not a great experience
Always a pleasure. Great food and service!!
We had a very enjoyable dinner before taking in a show at Madison Square Garden. The service was excellent. The waiter helped with our food selection upon our request. We were seated in a quiet area with a wonderful view overlooking the Empire State Building (great picture and selfie opportunity). The food was prepared with care with plenty of flavor. I would definitely go again!
Food was delicious. Service was poor- waitress insisted we had to order everything at once instead of drinks and appys first. Brought wine after appys.
Extremely disappointed in location of table. I noted on app that we wanted a table by the window because we had 2 recently widowed guests - 1 from abroad. Instead of a nice table, we had a view of the wall. If the food wasn’t tasty I’d give it 1 star
Wonderfully meals and atmosphere, but the service was beyond disappointing. We were there for over 2 hours with two small children, watching other tables come and go. We waiting a long time for everything, starting with even receiving a waiter. Appetizers were forgotten, we were never once offered refills on water or the chance to order a second round of drinks. Quite let down because for the price, this service was unsatisfactory. Just be prepared should you chose to give it a try.
Waiter was very slow and not attentive. Didn’t ask if we were finished before collecting plates.
When we travel to New York and visit Macy's flagship store, we try to arrive around dinnertime to dine at Stella's on the 6th floor. Our past experiences have been excellent, where there is a combination of excellent scenic views, high ceilings that promote quiet enjoyment of the meal and attentive service. However, on our most recent visit, we had one major disappointment. In the past, while enjoying a glass of wine or a cocktail, we were provided with ample warm bread and olive oil or butter. When we asked our waiter to bring some for us, he told us that management had recently imposed the charge of $8.00 for a portion of bread. This was surprising, because even in Europe where a standard bread and butter charge is imposed, it is never more than two euros which is equivalent to $2.25. On principle, we did not order the bread. Nevertheless, the Caesar salad which was fresh and complete with white anchovies and anchovy paste was plentiful and excellent. The large pasta with a braised beef sauce was tasty as well. An appetizer of risotto balls was equally good. Our waiter, who was extremely busy, was nevertheless very attentive and promptly accommodated our requests. His friendliness made us feel very welcome at the restaurant. For a department store restaurant, the prices are somewhat high, but given the ambiance and the quality, it was worth it.
Food was delicious. Great way to start the holidays!
Menu change from last we were there, limited vegetarian options
The food is very good. However, they had trouble getting food out of the kitchen in a reasonable amount of time. There was not explanation of interaction by the waiter. We did call over a manager who was very accommodating, but they need to fix the creation and expediting of the food.
Services was slow...
Food was not good and very small portions
Place was very dirty
I have been to this restaurant many times. This is the first bad experience. Our waitress was training another staff member. She never checked on us hardly ever. She spent way too much time on the computer etc I asked the trainee for a refill for my daughter’s coke and did not get it. So I asked the main waitress twice for it. She rudely barked the bar was making it and nothing else. She brought the refill but never spoke to us after that each time she came to the table. It was like she was mad at us for me asking her twice to remind her about the refill for my daughter. She never asked if I wanted a refill on my wine or anything like cheese for the pizza. I even had to ask for a plate for husband. She only spoke to us when she gave us the check. The trainee (which was the African American girl- I didn’t get her name) was nice. The other girl probably doesn’t need to train anyone.
The views are an amazing way to set an experience at Stella! The menu is well balanced between main dishes, starters, sandwiches, etc., so it's say to find something for everyone (and I have many limitations myself). The food was a bit too salty for everyone in my party, but still tasty-- made good reasoning to have dessert which was a highlight! The service was also great and very patient.
It's a restaurant at Macy's. With that in mind, the food is great.
The food was amazing. The servings are lunch size and are medium sized, not huge. I had the said ink pasta with peekytoe crab. Wasn't bad. And a tiramisu which was to die for. The waiter slacked on coming to check on us. It took long just to get coffee and even the check. But would still probably go back.
Excellent relaxed service. Food was a bit salty although very nicely presented and very creative and fresh.
A good place to go if you want oversalted “Nuovo” Italian cuisine. I’ve visited 5-6 times since Stella 34 opened & this was my least satisfactory lunch. Not many traditional items to choose from on the menu (even on the prie fixe choices) and the newcomers bear no resemblance to straight forward Italian cuisine- new or old school. I gave it 3 stars due to the lovely ambiance & nice staff. Will think twice before I return.
Great selection and wine choices
Muy bueno todo
It was excellent!!!
Arrived for a 5 pm dinner reservation prior to a show. I think half of the staff was still asleep. Took 20 minutes to get a waiter in a pretty much empty dining room. When someone finally got to us it came with a heavy dose of NYC attitude. Too bad the food did not have a little bit of that attitude.
We were seated without waiting at a lovely window side table with a great view of the Empire State Building. Three out of four of us order pizza and it was delicious. The fourth person ordered eggplant parmigiana. Excellent and attentive service.
The waiter only put in half of the order, so two of us dined at an entirely different time than the other two. Then, he forgot to collect the lagging meals from the kitchen. No one came over to apologize for this gross oversight. As the host of the gathering, I was mortified. I might never return.
Good food as always. Dinky appetizer portions.
The service was terribly slow. They must have been missing staff. Food was great!
Too much sauce on Eggplant parmigiana dish. It was a bit over cooked and not enough eggplant. All other dinners were delicious! The bread is amazing.
Zac, our waiter, is cordial and efficient. He has served us a few times.
My girlfriends and I recommend your restaurant and we will return.
Food was great. Pasta perfectly cooked. Good selection of wine. Problem. Service. The worst ever and nobody cared. I asked for a manager on the way out. Tipped zero for the first time in my life and left without even an “how can I make it right”. Might be back for a pizza at the bar but only if I’m in the store for another day of shopping.
Al dente a little too much
Chicken veg soup fab
Can’t believe a dept store restaurant
Food and wine are ok but you come here for the view. The service is nice but it could be more professional (it is what it is this days I guess). great atmosphere, clean and sweet.
Pre race dinner
Although the food was good, the service was a little slow. We waited awhile to get our drinks and order.
Service was very, very slow. Nothing was offered while we waited. My husband and son ordered simple linguine with red sauce (pre-marathon meal). The portion was very small for $21.00!! We needed to stop and get another meal on our way back to the hotel.
Excellent food, the pie ( pizza) was very much up to snuff for a New York Pie. We took our visiting friends there and they have never had authentic NY pizza. My risotto carbonara was to die for.
Perfect venue with attentive service and outstanding selection of food at reasonable prices.
This has been a go-to choice for lunch for several years. Very convenient when shopping at Macy's and close to Penn Station.
The service this particular visit was a bit uneven. Maybe it was because it was the end of peak lunch hours and a reduction in staff.
One very annoying element was the serving of coffee at the end of the meal. The espresso cup was just placed on the table without saucer, spoon or sugar choices. We had to ask for all of that. Not what I have come to expect at this establishment.
everytime we go to Stella they trying to put us on a table with a bad location. We ask for a table at the wimdow, we can see many of them empty, but they never let us to sit on those tables. They always try to put us at the last table of the sallon, so far of the midle.
