Poor service! We arrived with 10 minutes delays but wait 20 minutes more. When we asked to move for another table, the front desk person told us to wait 20 minutes more even if the other table was free. When we wanted to pay, they took our card and never came back!
This restaurant is on the sixth floor of Macy's overlooking Herald Square. The 12 foot uncovered windows add to the modern, clean decor and views. The pizzas and pasta dishes we ordered were delicious. Our only complaint was we wish we would have seen our waiter more often than we did.
Loved this venue....none of us had ever been here before and we've lived in NYC for decades! Came early evening...great table by the window for a friend's birthday celebration! Perfect spot...and food delicious...but not impressed with the choices for dessert...more simple selections would have been nice. Butternut squash ravioli...hmmmm good! Definitely a place to visit again!
Very loud when we came. Food was excellent. Got the food before the drinks. Had to ask to get the drinks. Got the coffe to late after the dessert!
The service could have been better, otherwise good!
Great dinner for Valentine's day it was a great environment with great food.
Everything was great; food service & ambiance, even on Valentines Day which can often be a nightmare. My friends from out of town loved it and we even had a view of the Empire State Bldg.
The food was not bad, calamari was delicious. The service though was extremely bad. Arrived at the restaurant and was not given a menu until 10mins later. Servers did not ask to see how you were doing nor did they not refill water. Not a restaurant I would recommend especially with the bad service they have.
A good experience for family dining before a concert at Madison Square. It was Valentine’s Day so we were fortunate to find a table for 5 anywhere in the area.
Valentine’s Day
Great food..
Only negative is that it takes too long to receive meal. Also drink order takes too long
A lovely bright restaurant in mid-town. This is my second visit. I've discovered that many people don't know about this restaurant at Macys. Maybe more advertising!!!! Coupons??????? Lovely meal. Excellent service. I will be back!
Great place tucked away in the back of Macy’s. Food was excellent! Some might not like the fact that you are in the store - or at least can look into the store - but great food for a casual spot. Better than other well known and pricier places I have been in NYC!
I was hesitant when i realized the restaurant was in Macy’s. I’m not a fan of eating in department stores. There is a private direct elevator which takes you to the entrance so you really don’t know you are in Macy’s once you arrive on the 6th floor. There are windows along the back wall which overlook the street and a small glimpse of the Empire State Building. The bar is long, marble and quite comfortable. The happy hour drinks were only $8 and were quite good, although there were only 3 choices of cocktails. Our group of 4 were seated at booth for 6; quite a luxurious space especially in Manhattan. The service was professional and warm; the food was a bit pricey but delicious. All in all we were pleased and would recommenced Stella 34 to friends.
Highly recommend Stella 34...love the venue, food and service
great place for brunch, lunch or dinner
Good food, great ambiance, and fantastic view of the Empire State Building! Great for a birthday! However service was extremely slow.
Omg the pizza was so good and the Gorgonzola Cheese Cake was different and fab
Salads were delicious!
Girls day out
My first impression of the restaurant I thought it was part of Macy's department store. The appetizers were very good. Also my client and I had the filet for dinner, My client felt that his steak was sour, I felt that my filet was good. We ordered four desserts a Tiramisu which was very good and two orders of Crème Brule. One of the deserts were good the other was very wet (Uneatable) the atmosphere was pretty cool, also at best the food was average.
I'm sorry to say are experience was very disappointing.
My new go to restaurant in midtown. Delicious food, lovely environment and attentive service! Couldn’t ask for a better experience.
Well prepared classic dishes. Service a bit slow. Limited menu choices on prices fixe
Surprise gem in the heart of the 6th floor of Macy’s Herald Square. Great view of Empire State building. Not crowded, but food and service both very good. Good to remember for dinner before MSG events
What a treat! A quiet restaurant inside Macy*s with delicious food and an evening view of the Empire State Building. Well paced, attentive service. Looking forward to returning
What a gem! Inside Macy's on the 8th Floor lies Stella and everything was just great. I had a tartare and a fish and the bread was fantastic. I will definitely return!
Great food. Wonderful service people. We strongly recommend it.
This is a tough one to rate on this latest visit, so I will bottom line it. The Food was very good, the service was awful. Have been here many times and was always decent service. This time we were made to feel like they could care less about us. We had three different servers and not one introduced themselves or even asked how we were doing. It was very neglectful. Then when our food came it all came at once - the appetizers and entrees. So by the time we finished our appetizers the rest of the food was cold. Then it took almost half an hour to get a simple dessert. The restaurant wasn't even crowded, maybe due to poor service this is why it was empty? There were 2 managers walking around but never came to our table. We got up and spoke to the manager about what went on and just got a generic sorry. I may give it one more chance since we do like the food and is convenient to where we are staying. I hope they improve on service, it was weird.
Bran imo too peppery -not described on menu - pork was a square of fat. Will not return.
Lovely dinner and perfect location for a meal before an even at the Garden! Food was delicious and ambiance great. My new go-to when in the area!
I will preface this by saying I come to this restaurant for many business lunches and I’ve always enjoyed it.
This time I went here before Billy Joel concert with we were a party of 8. We were disappointed with the service because we told the waiter on numerous occasions that one of our friends could not eat escarole in the ceaser salad. He said no problem we can replace with romaine. We ordered 2 ceaser salad one romaine one escarole. When they brought them both to the table they both looked exactly to the same and we asked him which is the one with the Romain and he looked at the server who helped him bring over the salads and he said I don’t know I think they’re both the same good thing we asked because they were both made with escarole and they wound up not having Romain. We were disappointed in the lack of communication they had with us and thankfully we asked which one was Romain and my friend did not eat. the restaurant did the right thing I did not charge us for one of the salads however we were disappointed that it could’ve been a bad situation if my friend did eat the escarole. Besides that the food was delicious that we ordered including margarita pizza the homemade pasta‘s meatballs and calamari.
The Lasagna was delicious
Wonderful table with a view of Empire State Bld. Celebrated my daughters birthday. The food was wonderful and we enjoyed our lunch very much.
The reservation met the request. Good food and service. A little pricey.
Because there are so many fabulous restaurants in NYC, particularly in the Herald Square area, I cannot see myself recommending Stella 34 Trattoria to a friend. While the food was delicious, the service was the worst I have received (and you will not find me writing negative reviews on service). We were seated with no menus, sat for over 10 minutes with no acknowledgment, received no water, were passed by multiple food servers, managers and other employees who consistently ignored us. My 17-year old daughter finally approached the bartender to ask for water because we were completely parched due to the cold, dry weather, to which she responded that we would be served water at our table. Really??? We then ordered drinks. Shortly after ordering the drinks, which still had not come, we ordered an appetizer salad. The salad came, but not the drinks. We asked for the drinks. Still, no drinks. We asked again. The waiter we asked responded "yeah, I know. My tables aren't getting their drinks either." Me: "Well, I can see our drinks sitting at the bar and we've now been here for almost 30 minutes. Do you think you could kindly grab them for us and bring them over here?" Our salad complete, we got our drinks. Our meals came and the food was very good. But, had it not been good, no one at Stella 34 would have known we felt that way because no one came to check on us. EVER. Anything we wanted, I literally had to wave someone down. I will add that the restaurant was not busy. We had a reservation 45 minutes prior to their closing time. There were a handful of customers eating while we were there, enough to make us feel like we were not the only diners in the restaurant. However, there were 5 times as many employees, including what appeared to be at least 2 managers in business type attire, walking the floors of the restaurant, doing anything but checking on the customers. I travel a lot. I eat out a lot. This was the worst service I have ever experienced
Food was delicious
Stella 34 is in a great location in NYC. The view from our table was the glittering Empire State Building. Just lovely. The service was excellent - we really felt welcomed. Our Caesar salad was very good, but the pasta course could have been better. The menu states they serve their pasta al dente, but this dish I feel was completely under cooked. Tasty though!
I would definitely return and I do recommend - absolutely!!
Stella could be stellar ..if the pricing was a bit lower . The location for MSG is great, the ambience and service were very good, the food is delicious but the portions are much too small for the cost.
A very nice and fun place. Our waiter was fantastic and very attentive. The bartender was a nice lady but slow and hard to get her attention. Overall a great time and we would go back.
We arrived a little early and could not be seated, after speaking with the manager he found a table. I was upset at first because there were empty tables. Service was slow.
Concert @ MSG
Dining at Stella is always consistent in both quality and service. Never disappointed. The waitstaff is so exceptional...timing, professionalism and personable. The menu..just perfection.
