We had reservations even though there wasnt much people. It was hot inside no fans, we went outdoors. Our african american waiter never checked on us and never came back. Another waitress brianna saved the day and helped us out the whole time. We couldn’t order beer flights because they ran out of cups because people steal them? And they refused to put in other small cocktail glasses so we dan have flights.

Options for vegetarian options is just so limited given that we live in the bay area and not somewhere midwest!

I won’t go back. Too loud, poor service and expensive mediocre food. The Tied House down the street may be less hip but would have been a better choice. So disappointed!

Drinks and appetizers took about 45 minutes. Waitress left on a break half way through. Didn’t get coverage for us. They’re getting used to a new, cumbersome order taking system. The screen is so small that the waitress couldn’t see our order on one screen, and we only ordered 5 things. I’ll try the Tied House Brewery Cafe across the street next time.

Asked the waiter about the “fresh fish” special. He said it was “market fish”. Asked again, “uh, salmon”. Had the short ribs. Giant fatty pieces covered in salty “gravy”. Nasty polenta. Even the pretzel with pub cheese and the truffle fries were bad. Tomato bisque? Also poor. Cute place, great beer selection. That’s it.

My son moved to Mountain View 2 years ago and Steins quickly became a favorite - so much so that I’d prefer the sure thing of Steins to trying a restaurant I haven’t been to.

This time the noise level was high upon arrival but it seemed that altho the din was in the background, the 5 of us, once in in the booth, had no trouble hearing each other.

Steins food is good and they have a great selection of beers rotating monthly. Their burger is a custom blend of beef cuts with good taste and juicyness. I ordered Maytag blue on my burger for $2 extra and Inwas disappointed at the small amount of cheese added. My wife had the pastrami reuben which was well done. The menu could benefit from some more dishes or daily specials.

Party of four and dog outdoor dining on a Saturday. Initially in a sunny spot and requested shade. Very accommodating staff arranged. Expansive draft beer selection and wide appetizer options. $150 plus tip

Came to watch the NCAA hoop games. Service was good but the food was just ok. Different people ordered the burger, chicken & waffles, and salads, which we all thought were okay - except the Chicken & Waffles which got 4 stars. We were surprised they were out of two beers which is strange for a pub that prides themselves on drafts. Seems like a good place, so we'll give it another chance.

The staff is amazing! Shoutout to the manager Marco who went above and beyond to make sure my experience was superior. I’ve held my employer dinners here and come as a patron and I’ll keep coming till the day I die. The chicken fried sandwich is to die for!!! And then truffle fries are what dreams are made off.

The building was very cold. The food was poor; the lamb was served cold, the fried chicken was very poor quality and the Shepard Pie was lacking - just meat and potato.

My friends and I met here for our monthly happy hour get together. Our server was very friendly and checked up on us frequently. Drinks were reasonable but food came in small portions and was pricey. We sat inside by the front windows. It was pretty cold in there. The restaurant space is cavernous and it gets very loud quickly. It seems to be a popular place, especially for folks just getting off of work but not a place our group will be returning to.

Been here a few times and usually just order a cocktail and either a salad or sandwich. The food is good, the atmosphere is casual and the service is good. Overall, yes, I would go back and recommend it to others.

Great service and food was amazing. Portions were surprisingly bigger than expected. I’m happy I made reservations ahead of time. I noticed as the night progressed it got much busier and it was harder for large groups to get table seating. Awesome place - would definitely recommend! Again - amazing service from front desk, bar and wait staff!

We have been going to Stein's for several years, usually on Sunday nights. This recent visit was marked by very poor service and we won't be going back. There were four of us. Two entrees were brought out about five minutes after we ordered them; and before the appetizer. When the appetizer was brought out we asked to return it, since the entrees had started coming out. However our waiter told us that we couldn't return it because it was Stein's policy to bring out food as soon as it was made. The other two entrees came out quite late. We asked to talk with a manager when we left but were told there was no manager on duty. It's sad to see that a once good restaurant obviously doesn't care enough to train or supervise their staff correctly, because the service errors could have been prevented.

We had quite possibly the worst dining experience we've ever had. Our server, Alexander, never introduced himself and seemed annoyed that we were there from the very beginning. He was rude when we were ordering, never checked on us after he delivered our food, and we had to ask the host to find him so we could pay. Our sausage had an egg shell in it and Alexander never brought my toast. When the host informed Alex the toast never came, he brought cold toast in a box and blamed it on someone else. We just moved to Mountain View and someone recommended Steins for brunch. It was quite the disappointment. Poor service and the food was nothing special. We will never be back.

We went during MV art& wine festival so admittedly a challenging time. The hostess was absent for about 5 minutes so we waited to be recognized, the reservation was confirmed and we sat immediately. The cheerful waiter was overwhelmed with the patio, but we ordered drinks and apps which arrived quickly. The main meal was a problem, as one of our party missed his entree for nearly 20 minutes. The manager and waiter apologized and comped us but it was awkward. Finally, they couldn't process our credit cards for another 15 minutes. I'm sure they were happy to see us leave...food was good but perhaps more staff would help.
