Food was unappetizing and not made in the “German” style. The pig’s knuckle was basically smoked ham and did not at all taste like pig’s knuckle made in Munich. Side fish portions were too small. Service was mediocre.
This is a little hidden gem. Food and service were great. One of my new favorite spots in Hot Springs.
We love the food. My wife is half German, so she’s tough to please. I highly recommend the Brussel Sprouts side dish. The staff is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. My only suggestion is to raise the temperature of the dining area by a few degrees. I know it’s a cellar, but it doesn’t have to feel like it. Regardless, I’d go back and freeze for the food and service.
Amazing food, slow service
Great place to celebrate a graduation with our family!!
Probably the worst meal I’ve had in a while- host at the door handed me the menus and said well you can find a seat- then proceeded to sit there and do NOTHING all night.
The salad I had was fresh
But the spaetzel was cold and flavorless
The schnitzel appeared to be from a frozen package. Apple sauce was possibly from a jar. The latke was soggy - really an awful meal
Our waitress tried really hard to be kind but was totally awkward.
It was a mistake to have gone here. But all the other restaurants were closed
Hello Ellen S, If this review weren't prompted by a reservation on this site, I would say you never dined in the restaurant. We are a reservation place, so we do not allow people to sit themselves in the dining room. You also had one of the friendliest staff members I have ever had the pleasure of employing in my many years in the restaurant industry as your server. Awkward is not an adjective anyone would use to describer her. There were also ZERO complaints the night you dined. Ridiculous.
White asparagus month: Universally delicious special menu. What a treat!
We are so glad that you love Spargel as much as we do!! We'll see you next time, PROST!!
.Glad there's a German restaurant in Hot Springs - and a very good one too. Service was excellent. Lots of fun.
Thanks so much for the review. We appreciate it so much. PROST!
Great food! Unique place!
We had a fabulous time at Steinhaus Keller with our friends while visiting Hot Springs. We often go to German restaurants and this restaurant did not disappoint us. The server was so outgoing and helpful. Upon the recommendation of the server we started off with the pretzel appetizer. Wow is all I can say. It was the best we ever had. Our dinners were very good. Most had the spatzel or potato pancake and Brussels sprouts with different types of schnitzels. The only negative was the food could have been a little warmer. The Black Forest cake was fabulous as well as the apple strudel. They also had a great selection of German draft beers on tap. If in hot springs again - will definitely go back.
We had a wonderful dinner. Our server was beyond helpful, polite and fun. The atmosphere was warming and inviting. Great place, great experience.
I'll preface with saying that we did have a group of 10. Our waitress was quick to get our drink orders out to us. Appetizers also came out quick after ordering. Their pretzels are amazing by the way. However after our appetizers were finished it was another hour before our food made it to us. Our waitress had to come and tell one of our party that the meal he had chosen was sold out 2 different times. He ended up settling for his 3rd pick. Another member of our party ordered one of their specials (the New York strip). He ordered it rare and it came out well done. The chef was nice enough to either comp his meal or make another one that would come out after everybody had already eaten, he chose the comped meal. During this hour we were waiting we could over here other waiters telling their tables that everything was backed up because of the "big table" and they were comping people's meals left and right, offering 50%off free desserts etcetera. We weren't offered anything other than our 1 member with the steak. When our food made it to our table it was good dont get me wrong, but my alpine chicken was dry and the 2 other dishes I tried a bite of were dry as well, excellent sauces tho. I would come back again, but not with a group larger than 4.
The food was amazing and the outdoor seating was nice BUT the smokers came out to smoke while others were eating and we got our food and hour and a half AFTER we arrived for our reservation.
I frequent the Hot Sorings area several times a year, and am always looking for a new place to entertain clients...Steinhouse Keller did not disappoint! From the moment we arrived, the service was superb! Our group tried several different beers and dishes, and each person was pleased with their selections. I will be recommending and will back!
We have had limited experience with true German food so we didn’t know what to expect from this restaurant. Food was delicious and our server, a young blonde lady, was fantastic! She knew a lot about the history of the building as well as information about the menu. Just a great experience all around!
Food and service are great in such a fun atmosphere!
We were in town for the Arkansas Derby....1st time visitors.....everything was wonderful. The service was always prompt, the food/beers really delicious and the polka music a great touch....thank you for a great evening!
Food was very good and portions large. However our waitress was not very attentive and needed training in proper service. We were celebrating a special occasion and the overall dining experience was fell well short of my expectations.
Great food s little mix up on the order, green beans instead of red cabbage
I had not eaten here since it changed from Brau Haus to Steinhaus Keller. But, it hasn’t changed a bit. Awesome food, good beer, and fantastic service. I spent 3 years in Germany due to my father being in the military and this place is as close as you’ll get.
Never disappointing when we eat here. The food is very authentic and delicious. We always reserve a table as it can get packed quickly, my husband and I would recommend to anyone if they are visiting Hot Springs.
The food was wonderful and our waiter whose name is Russell was absolutely delightful and very professional. Will definitely be back again.
As a German I went in with high hopes that the food would be delicious and all my expectations were met! Plus we were celebrating my birthday and the waiter bought my dessert! Highly recommend!
Wonderful experience!! Highly recommend!! Professional staff!!
My husband and I came for our anniversary. I chose this place based on reviews and looking at pictures. I made reservations online. I’m so happy I did since it was very busy. I can’t say enough about the cool location and rock work inside making it feel “European.” The food was top notch. I’d go back again and again.
Always enjoy dining here when we are in hot springs. Great beer and wine selection and the food is amazing!!
This was our third visit to Steinhaus Keller. This was the best yet!! Food and service could not have been better. Our server, Matt , was excellent. He was professional and attentive and recommended dishes. They did not disappoint. We loved the bread service, mushrooms and cabbage rolls. The sausages, schnitzel and red cabbage were especially good as were the two chocolate cakes. We highly recommend you check this place out!!
We were seated and awaited on immediately. The service was great and the food was amazing. Located on the lower level of a quaint complex, the restaurant has an old world feel. I highly recommend the jager schnitzel and the German potato salad. The prices are reasonable and the food is authentic. A must do in Hot springs.
Very good food and service. Would go back. Polka band wasn’t exciting.
I loved everything about Steinhaus Keller. The food, music, and service were wonderful. We will be back!
Food was good but service was slow... seemed understaffed.
Cute place. Food was ok, not amazing. Service was slow.
They had a wonderful setting filled with German music. Our host and waiter were wonderful. Sadly the food was to different for our taste buds.
The location, service and food was perfect. Wide range of beer to choose from and the pretzel is a must! Great experience.
Highly disappointed! I was so excited to go and had been wanting to go for months, my husband and I both the the mustard infused cheese schnitzel. It was awful it tasted like someone just dumped a gallon of mustard on top. I mentioned to the waiter that I thought I would have been more of a cheese taste and his reply was something like “yeah, sometimes it’s like that”! What kind of a response is that? I couldn’t even finish it after scraping all the mustard off and ended up getting a second meal somewhere else.
A group of six dined at the restaurant during the very busy St. Patrick's day parade. Our waiter was efficient, the food arrived promptly, hot and was good. A pleasant experience.
Food took almost an hour, was very bland, and over priced.
First time visiting Steinhaus Keller. Friend recommended this restaurant. We were not disappointed. We started trying the pretzel, ordered two beers Hirter Miorchl (smooth dark) and a Franziskaner Helles and shared the roulade plate. It was a great eating experience. Service is excellent. Highly recommend this place.
