Not since 1878 (ish) was beer brewing for public consumption in Mount Vernon, OH. Stein Brewing Co. has now opened its doors with a full service restaurant and brewery. The kitchen is led by award winning Chef Erin Stevens whom formerly was the Head Chef for Mapfre Stadium (Columbus Crew) and Fed Ex Field (Washington Redskins). She has brought her talent and flair to Mount Vernon to change the landscape of hospitality along with General Manager Robert Lucente. Stein Brewing Company has a 102 seat restaurant section (full service restaurant) as well in the same building a 55 seat Brew Pub (Walk In/First Come-Open Seating) where all our local beers are brewed. This is a upscale casual dinning place with a heavy shading towards barbecue. They do have other items as well. The service is typically good and the food is usually very good. Prices are a little upscale but as I said it is upscale casual.

Stick to the burgers and you can't go wrong. The fish in the fish and chips was mushy and the cole slaw was soupy. We found the background music to be loud before the rest of our party arrived. The staff was helpful and friendly. I must say that the padded bench seat had padding in the wrong place for my 6' 3" frame. We like to come here as halfway point between the north and Columbus and there is a lively, youthly ambiance.

Reservation was honored and punctual. Service was timely and courteous. Food selections unique and excellent, especially fried mushroom and cauliflower wing appetizers and the return of "pig wings." The chorizo taco salad is excellent and just the right size. Draft beer selections are OK, but there is not enough description of about half of them to know what they really are, all being craft beers. All things considered, this place has been an asset to Mt. Vernon and well conceived and received.

Your restaurant had such great reviews. The service was average. My tavern burger was just ok but the Cobb salads were terrible. One other person ordered the brisket platter. He didn’t say anything but his meat was dry. We were with friends and typically meet at the Kenyon Inn. Both couples from out of town. We decided to meet at your restaurant this time. Totally disappointed

Yes it is the holiday season, but we booked a high top because that was the only thing available, check in and are informed there are no high tops.....ummm, but that's what we booked...ok no problem, we had a table,way in the back....service was slow, food took a long time to come out and though it was good, it was cold. We brought friends from out of town...not sure if they were too impressed.

I Made the reservation and when my son arrived before me they were trying to put us in a booth with a booster seat for my granddaughter who has one. We then had to wait while they changed and try to accommodate us with a highchair so they moved us from the dining room to the taproom stuck us in a booth for six people with a highchair on the end it was inconvenient because there was only one way out of the booth so if you had to go to the restroom change a diaper on a baby it was a little crazy. It was very noisy in the taproom more like a bar atmosphere which is not at all what we were looking for. That was the first time I had been there And the last time as well. The service was very slow it was so noisy overall a very bad experience

I love Reuben sandwiches, but this one was horrible. The smoke flavor was so strong, you couldn't taste the rye bread nor the sauerkraut. My grandson loved his burger.

We had a large party, 16 in total. I made reservations through OpenTable( which I do all the time for when we go to the Stein Brewing Company because they are one of the popular restaurants around. We had another great meal at Stein Brewing Company! I chose the smoked sausage platter and my husband had the pulled pork platter. Our friends each had the brisket platter (which was new to them) and enjoyed it very much. We've never had a bad meal at Stein and will continue to return!

Menu is mostly bar food, with some entrees above that. Cauliflower wings with not chili sauce very good. Decent beer selection. Service was good, but not outstanding. It is good to see, relative to other restaurants, that their wait staff is somewhat stable with at least three of the ladies there for quite a while and personable. Reservation taken and honored. The talk level is pretty high. They consistently have families there with children as well. All in all, this place is a welcome addition to Uptown Mt. Vernon.

We always enjoy going to Stein. The food always tastes wonderful. Our server this visit was efficient… but not warm. The build your own burger is definitely not as good of a value when compared to the other specialty sandwiches on the menu. We will be back again though.

I was drawn by a picture of the PNB whiskey milkshake on Instagram! We live about 40 minutes from SBC, it was well worth the drive! The milkshake was AMAZING! We got the fried mushrooms, they were lightly breaded and piping hot. My husband got a burger, which was delicious. I got the loaded baked potato, I thought that was the meal but it came with two sides! The potato was filling and enough food by itself. I wish we lived closer so we could go more often!
