First visit for my guests. They loved it. I’ll continue to visit.
Distracted and disinterested server. Especially annoying when there’s a mandatory 20% service charge. Spouse ordered mahi-mahi, it was replaced with albacore using the same sauce, but it was not well prepared — overdone and dry.
As always the Steelhead was excellent if a bit crowded and noisey, the food was very good, service with a smile and a nice time was had by all...
Steelhead Diner is consistently great. We love the variety of delicious different dishes, especially seafood, and friendly staff. They have a great bar menu and wine list. We brought our kids this time, and learned they have a great kids menu.
Nice spot to eat while on vacation in Seattle. We had a great window table with a view of the sound. The food was very good.
Our appetizers were great: Prosciutto, asparagus, beet salad. Our main courses were not so good: Marinaded Black Cod (bland fish and sauce, fish was a little mushy), New York Steak (not well seasoned--bland, pretty thin cut varied from rare--requested doneness--to medium depending on thickness, sauce was pretty but had little flavor, potatoes were good. Beer and wines were good. Service was excellent.
Great menu and excellent service.
I was able to book a large group within 2 days. They reminded us of happy hour specials and otherwise food was good and arrived in good time
Wine dinner with Brian Carter, fantastic food and wine pairings. The staff is top notch.
Fine, not as good as I remember from previous visits.
Great service from Chell. Wonderful food. Loved the orrecchiete pasta.
Great for casual, quick meal. Traffic delayed our arrival so we had a short time to eat. Server was superb in getting order in. Food came out promptly. The food was excellent. Eclectic menu that combines higher end main dishes, sandwiches, and New Orleans traditional. My wife and I were impressed.
We had a great meal and great service. Thanks!
Had a wonderful lunch with variety of choices for four in our party. Salads were very generous and half a salad was more than enough with a side of crab/shrimp taters. Disappointed that fabulous crab cake was not on the menu.
What a gem and right across the street from The Inn at the Market. So close that we easily could walk there. Even if I had to drive 50 miIes I would go back in a heart beat. Food delicious! Service excellent! Staff absolutely the best! We went twice in 4 nights while in Seattle. They have the best food for the soul and a wonderful variety from seafood to steak, chicken dishes or vegan if you perfer. This restaurant deserves an excellent. Making reservations is quick and easy by phone or on line. Go there, you'll be glad you did.
A regular spot for us to bring out=of -own company. Delicious food, with a wide variety; great service, reasonable prices, perfect location. We have never been disappointed!
Great staff and service. Very understanding of allergies... Food was all very well thought out and we will definitely be returning.
We had a large group of 14 for bunch. They were awesome! Everything went perfect, handled all our orders seamlessly. Drinks were fast. Food was right on time. Perfect day.
We’ve been there several times, and unfortunately we will not go back. The service was bad. The waitress got my order wrong and it was finally served 10 minuets after everyone else was finished their meals. My father in law’s soup was served cold. We ordered a bottle of wine, and they didn’t refill the glasses. The restaurant did not comp either meal. Plus, they automatically charge you a 20% tip. I paid a $46 tip for poor service, which makes me feel overcharged and unhappy.
I think the food was a little disappointing. As my dish just tasted bland and I could only taste the spice. The texture was alright, but the sauce was dreadful. There was so much oil under my pasta! :( the service was okay, I thought the waitress was a little rude/impatient, and we were forced to pay 20% tips at the end. Would recommend if you're going for lunch. Not dinner.
. The server was good but the fish and chips were a rip off and sitting in a puddle of oil. We had ordered Mac and cheese and the cream was burnt so it tasted gross, easily could have been prevented if the person cooking it tasted the cream sauce before it went to our table. The crab tots were very good and really the only saving grace for the meal. We ended up paying $75 for an appetizer and one entree split between two people plus a drink each. Not worth the cost
Enjoyed the Louisiana-inspired dishes on the menu, including gumbo and collard greens. A wide selection of food, nice server and a great location to Pike Place Market.
Wonderful seats looking out over Puget Sound. The food was wonderful and while waiting for out orders we notices lots of things that looked delicious going to other guests.
Everything was outstanding including the food!! The fish and chips are the best ever! But next time I'm going to try the crab benedict (or what ever they call it there). It looked outrageously good!
We were visiting Seattle and it was close to our accommodations and seemed to have good reviews. We felt it was very overpriced for what we got. Average quality and presentation, at best.
Fish and chips over priced for the quality of the food. Mostly breaded batter little amount of fish, lots of fries.
Always a great spot to meet up with friends!
We have been to several restaurants that add a 20% gratuity to the check. This is the first one where the waitstaff appears to be taking advantage of it. The food was brought to our table, but we were never once asked how it was. Water glasses weren't filled. In general not great service...but a pretty nice tip.
Service was awesome and the Ciopinno was top notch!
Always a great experience at the Steelhead Diner. All of our dishes were excellent. A party of six and everything came out together and we were all very happy. From pork tenderloin to fish and chips to paella.
My colleagues and I in a group of 10 were visiting Seattle for business. We called around to make reservation a week ahead. One restaurant I called (Matt's) just hung me up after speaking for a couple of mins because they didn't have table for a large group! How rude! On the other hand, booking at Steelhead Diner was such a breeze! Thank you for making it easy for your guests.
Of course we were more impressed with the drinks and food! The cocktails were delicious. Every dish was nicely prepared with fresh ingredients. The whole trout was amazing. In fact everything was amazing. We enjoyed the dinner very much.
Excellent food and service in a casual atmosphere, with a very creative if slightly limited menu.
Honestly, I was expecting a diner sort of vibe, but it's a restaurant with a bar. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and quick! Definitely recommend.
Such a great dining experience in the market! Our server was phenomenal with great recomendations and a friendly smile. We ordered a dozen oysters, tequila lime mussels, and olive crusted halibut. Each of these items were absolutely scrumptious! Portion sizes are generous, so while the price point is a little high you feel like you get your money's worth.
Excellent food and pleasant, efficient service. We absolutely love dining here.
Outstanding service, food was excellent, very kid-friendly.
Overall good experience
Steelhead is a fun, quirky twist on the old run of the mill diner. The main difference is that the menu is anything but diner fare. The seafood was the best we had in 3 days of Seattle chowing. Our waitress was extremely courteous and went beyond the call when there was a mix up in the wine menu. Great place to take a meal or an adult beverage.
Our waitstaff was very pleasant. Our po’boys were good but wouldn’t win any awards; I felt the same about the razor clam chowder.
My only disappointment was that despite having reservations, we ended up at the least desirable table in the restaurant. It was right on the corner with a lot of traffic and not much room to maneuver. I also shared a booth seat with a 4-top next to us who were pretty loud. Even though the table was on opposite side from the front door, it was propped open despite a cold wind pouring into the restaurant which made it chilly and uncomfortable.
I’ve been to Steelhead in the past and sat at the bar and those experiences were pleasant, but I wouldn’t return for table service.
While on vacation in Seattle, my wife and I dined at the Steelhead Diner prior to heading out to the theater. We were able to get a reservation and let our server know that we needed to be out by a certain time, which she was more than happy to accommodate us. My wife ordered the salad with pears and goat cheese, while I had the flash fried pork belly, which were both excellent. For our entrees, my wife ordered the black cod, while I had the fish and chips. While we typically share our appetizers and entrees, we both found ourselves not wanting to share as we both felt what we ordered was so good (we shared any way). The dinner was great and we were out of there with plenty of time to spare. The restaurant was a bit noisy, but that's to be expected on a Saturday night.
Consistently EXCELLENT fresh fish choices - a "10" every time!
