Great view, terrific food, friendly service. Copper River salmon was outstanding. Lots of great appetizer options too.
Fantastic food, great space!
Poor service and greasy fish n chips. Wouldn’t have left a 20% tip were it not included in the bill. Won’t go back.
We went for lunch here on a Sunday. It was understandably busy but I Tre impatient as the host was absent for about 10 minutes. Once we were seated, the food was fast and delicious. Somewhat pricey for a lunch but the seafood was fresh and decadent.
Simply awesome. Went to brunch on mother’s day and Wanted to eat everything on the menu! The Dungeness crab tater tots were outstanding as were the Sequimbled Eggs. My wife’s burger was beyond killer. And the fish and chips yummy.
Mother’s Day brunch
Had the opportunity to sit out on the patio and was lovely. Great service and amazing food!
Very loud. Average food. Nothing special or creative. It could be so much more.
Food was excellent! Service was not polished at all - not great communication; heard specials described very differently from two different servers; server was not very intuitive or observant of our needs. Anxious to take our order before we were ready, then clearing plates too quickly without asking if we were finished, then did not box up everything we asked for. Very polite - just not real tuned in and for that 20% service charge, I expected better service.
Delicious food. Fun and casual environment. Great location.
The fish Tacos were amazing!! Don’t let the outside of this restaurant deceive you as the food and service was great. The location is just before Pikes Market so it’s a popular choice and seemed busy for a Tuesday night.
Steak salad came with extremely (rare) and equally rare when politely asked to have it cooked. Asked for Tabasco from different server who was very rude and annoyed by the request. One person had food allergies and got toast 5 minutes after everyone else was served and it was charred on one side but flipped for plating to hide the charcoal. Lastly, after chatting for 1/2 hour after meal we were asked to ‘wrap things up’. Host was kind/courteous and professional. Server started off great but when you clear a plate that still has very rare meat after already trying to get it corrected, you should acknowledge that the steak was still on the plate bright red. Maybe close on Easter if everyone isn’t on their A game?
The waiter forgot one of our dishes, brought it out quite late when reminded, but did also remove the charge from our bill. Perhaps restaurants like Steelhead that automatically add a 20% service charge don't strive as hard to deliver excellent service? Food was good; ambiance is lively. Overall a good experience for a casual night out, and Steelhead's location is a big plus.
Great menu and great food with excellent service, highly recommended.
Food wasn’t enjoyable. Too much of cheese and hollandaise sauce.
Enjoyable food and an inviting energetic ambiance above Pike Place with an engaging staff. The olive encrusted halibut was exceptional, the char and crab cake very tasty, the Theo’s chocolate pecan pie divine. Would we go back, yes. 5 stars.
I was extremely dissatisfied with food and service. A 20% gratuity is automatically added to the bill, the service should have been better. The server brought the wrong beer to the table. We noticed the new beer sitting on the bar for at least 5 minutes before it was brought to the table. The fish and chips were mushy. Go to Lowell's at Pike Street Market
Eclectic menu that’s accessible for all ages and stages. This visit combined fish, buggers, and gumbo. All were top notch.
With a focus on local(ish) seafood, Steelhead Diner does a great job of providing delicious yet simple meals. My Atlantic Char (not exactly local), was perfect. Accompanied by a tasty polenta and a wonderful brown butter sauce, it become quite memorable. My friend had the pork chop, which looked a bit thinker than one might like, and was a bit dry.
Absolutely amazing climate and the food always is a treat.
Our waitress was attentive and available when we needed anything. She was very knowledgeable about the restaurant week menu. The selection was perfect for sharing and a wonderful location right in the market. Thank you for making restaurant week a fun experience for us to team build. It was relaxed and comfortable. We will be back!
Food and wait service were excellent. Been here about 6 times and the meals are always on point and the restaurant week special was no different this go around.
The hostess was the weak link in this experience. Seemed upset to actually greet people and show them into the restaurant. We watched multiple parties experience the same.
All fried food (Chicken & Fish) was so full of grease it was not very edible. Clam Chowder had minimal Clams.
During SRW this spring, I ventured in to dine alone at lunch. I was welcomed as a friend, provided any seat I chose, served fresh, appealing, exquisite food and drink. I normally cannot afford dining in spaces such as this. I am grateful the owners offered their passions on the discounted menus for me to enjoy.
I heartily recommend the grilled fish and seductive potato dish. Fried options can be had anywhere, but the grilled platter was masterful.
Our server was great! They had a wonderful wine list that featured some excellent Washington wine. The food was great. We had a party of 9 and everyone enjoyed their food. The key lime pie was also excellent for dessert. We also enjoyed the view of the Sound and the Market. We will go again.
Steelhead Diner has been my favorite restaurant for four years. Love their salmon, but this last visit was really disappointing. No salmon and menu was very limited.
Did well with a large group. Some kisses on the food but more people than not loooved what they had
Delicious! The swordfish is phenomenal
Our waitress Chelle completely made our meal experience wonderful. From the moment we walked in she was funny, kind, and extremely welcoming. The food was fantastic (I recommend the shrimp and crab tater tots and the crab cake) and the flourless brownie to end the meal was perfection.
I have been to the Steelhead Diner a number of times and always had a really good meal. This last visit was disappointing. We ordered crab cake for appetizer. It was moist to the point of seeming undercooked. Unremarkable as it did not reach Northwest standard with great crab flavor with a lightly crusted exterior. For main course we ordered the halibut which was the special of the day with halibut season just having opened. A well cooked and prepared halibut is a beautiful thing. This however was very forgettable actually. It was ok. But just ok. The fish itself was not very flavorful and the bed of white bean sauce under it was cold. And for $44 not really value. For fresh halibut and at a very “market” price I came away feeling like it was pretty average when I wanted to be knocked out. Could have been in Denver.
The food was good, but not really a huge variety. We were walking around looking for a place that would seat a large group quickly and they did. Outstanding service.
I have eaten at the Steelhead Diner three to four times. The food and the service have been very good every time.
Cool location. Service was not great because they were working on serving another large party. Food was pretty good.
The food was good, but even with a reservation we were sat in a booth that backed to the kitchen with a swinging door that banged against the wall every 3-4 minutes. It felt like someone was kicking us in the back all night.
I really like this place. Its just a shame that not every table has a view towards the market and the water!
Really enjoyed Steelhead Diner! I had the fish and chips - excellent! Will definitely go back on our next visit to Seattle.
Brought my friends in for fish and chips, and that what we order
They were perfect. I love this dish here.
My husband had the gumbo and the house salad. I had clam chowder and house salad. Next time, we're going to share the that lovely salad! It easily serves two. Our table looked out upon Pike Place Market and the water. Overall, a wonderful dining experience. Oh, and the margaritas were great!
Great food! Only issue we had was that we happened to have arrived at the same time as two huge parties, so our food was slightly delayed in getting to us. However, wonderful waitress made (and amazing food) made up for the wait.
Dining out with friends before leaving town.
