We really enjoyed our annual company dinner in the backroom at Steelhead Diner. The server (can't remember her name but she was from Kentucky originally) was excellent and very kind and considerate.

Really disappointed with this choice in a city with so many great restaurants. Saturday evening dinner with reservations...
- Steelhead Diner was out of salmon “their best dish” at 6:30 pm
- although we are a fan of the tip included; you feel a bit fleeced when the service is poor
- 15 minutes from drink order (beers) to receiving, never asked if we would like another
- entrees came out separately...as did apps
- seated in likely the worst table even though we had reservations and it was not that busy
- calm chowder and salads were fine, steak was poor cut and chewy, chicken was good.
Would look elsewhere when in Seattle.

This restaurant consistently delivers on fresh fish and other NW favorites, as well as having a professional and dedicated service staff. One of a handful of my go-to places in the PNW.

The menu had so much interesting food. We are already planning for our next trip. We had the fried chicken sandwich and the clams and prosciutto/apple salad. All delicious! Wait staff was friendly and efficient! We will definitely go back and try for dinner. The menu made me want to try a little bit of everything. Great local place! Sit at bar for great view of public place market sign.

Consistently excellent regional cuisine. The fish was expertly prepared and everyone had a very good dinner. Terrific clam chowder and Steelhead has one of the best Mac and Cheese's in Seattle. The Gumbo dish is better than any we tried in New Orleans. Definitely will recommend to friends!

Went for the gumbo because we are native South Louisianians. I'm always disappointed when people up here try to cook Cajun. I was NOT disappointed! Finally someone who knows how to cook a proper roux! Best gumbo I've had in 3000 miles.

Fantastic food ! Our first restaurant in Seattle and we loved it. The reviews here were spot on. We loved the clam chowder, tots, black cod, and diverse cocktails! Service was very attentive! I also liked that they allowed my daughter and I to share a plate and separated it for us. A must for tourists like us!

The fish and chips and the trout and the chowder are awesome. I have been here several times and everyone at the table has loved their meal. This is a very comfortable and family friendly restaurant with excellent food and reasonable prices, especially considering the location. The waitress was very nice and friendly. The food does take some time so if you have a large group don’t expect to be in and out quickly. It’s a good place for a delicious and relaxing meal.

They did not recognize our reservation and wanted to split our party up into 2 tables. We had friends visiting from out of town, so they thankfully put a table together to us in the back room. But then our waitress seemed a bit off (maybe tipsy?) and spilled our wine 4 times while pouring glasses. Food and wine as amazing though!

Food was overpriced. The cod which came in a broth with vegetables was $42. The New York steak was so full of fat that it was almost inedible. Waitresses seemed distracted. 20% gratuity is automatically added to the bill. This didn’t seem to encourage diligent service.

So yes this place is a diner - a little on the pricey side because it's at Pikes Place. So it's also a tourist place - and we were hungry tourists. The thing we all liked the best were the "Naughty Clams" in a wine butter broth which we mopped up with sourdough bread. Would order them again for sure. Don't bother with the crab and bay shrimp tater tots - they were really 90% breaded with a hint of seafood and deep fried. Wouldn't order them again. My son had cioppino and he loved it. I tried it and could not get over how much oil was in the brother - like the kind you can see floating at the top - but he really liked the flavor. Son #2 had the crispy buttermilk fried chicken sandwich and fries. He said it was good but not great. My husband had Kasu marinated black cod. It was good and only second to those clams! Very casual. Waitress was a nice lady but literally spilled water on my son every time she refilled his water glass. It became a joke as it happened about 4 times during dinner (yes he drinks a lot of water).... "ooopsy - sorry about that!" she was nice but he ended up pretty damp during dinner. Not sure we'd go back here again.

First time at Steelhead. But since we knew it was owned by the Orfeo bunch, we were assured the food would be wonderful. And we were not disappointed. The pasta with cauliflower was yummy, as well as, the salad and the gumbo. Never a disappointment. Thanks Chef Kevin!

Very nice meal for brunch on Christmas eve with family. Food was quite good, especially the hangar steak and eggs, and my son thought the fish and chips was the best he'd ever had. I don't know if the included service was a new policy or because we were a party of 5, but I don't love that. The service was good overall, though there was a pause of several minutes between the first few entrees coming out and the last two bringing up the rear. Not a huge deal.

Overall, nice meal and setting in a terrific, energetic location.

Wonderful clam chowder!! Some of the best my husband and I have tasted (and we are natives of the area and have experienced many different chowders).

Espresso creme brûlée was also very good and a Ballard pilsner was great with our fish and chips and fish tacos.

Never heard of it before using the Open Table website. Really had a pleasant time, good diner food, super service. All of the servers were helping each other so the water glass was never half empty. I'd definitely go there again.

Our waiter was horrible. Not ONCE did our water glasses get refilled. We had to ask for bread and our order took over 50 minutes to arrive after order was taken. The oysters on the half shell had no sauce or vinegarette, just the oysters in a weird salt. The fried chicken was WAY too salty. For four people without any appetizers OR ALCOHOL and 2 entrees were dinner salads, the bill was over $100!

We had read about this place and gave it a try. We arrived early for our reservation but were pleased that we were seated immediately even on a busy Saturday evening. The craft beer selection was not as extensive as I had hoped but did include a satisfactory choice. I had the Alaska razor clam chowder, which was rich and tasty. Entree choices were the whole trout, which was excellent, and the fish and chips. The ling cod fish was nicely battered and melt-in-your-mouth, accompanied by a very good tartar sauce (the server had thoughtfully also asked about, and provided, malt vinegar) and nondescript fries. We also ordered a side of broccoli with cashews and dried chilies. Warning--do not make my mistake. I bit off and swallowed half of a dried chili, and then spent several minutes trying to douse the flames in my mouth and throat. I don't know where they get their chilies, but that one was the hottest thing I have ever eaten. Other than that incident, the experience was generally a good one.

Enjoyed our waiter and appreciated his enthusiasm for the food. It was our first time dining at Steelhead Diner, so we were eager to try it all. So glad we sampled the gumbo, the collard greens and the crab and shrimp tater tots. The tots were especially good with the table top vinegar. Best surprise, however, was the black cod. Will come back, again, simply for that dish. We had only wished it was served with a side of rice, to soak up all the delicious sauce.
